Dear Diary,
Existence without fantasy football is pain. It’s as hellish as when you ask for a Coke but then you get served a Pepsi. And even though you’d rather blowtorch your own face off rather than suffer through a vile glass of barely carbonated gutter seepage, you understand that society expects you to behave, so you force a sip of the devil’s pit sweat and try not to completely die on the inside. Or maybe that’s just me.
Anyway, the endless devastation of prolonged reality without fantasy football is why I love the FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulator Tool (which can be accessed through FantasyPros.com or by downloading the Draft Wizard App). With the powers of the Simulator at my fingertips, there’s nothing that can stop me from metaphorically disemboweling every fantasy opponent I face in 2021.
You may ask, “how does the FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulator imbue one man with such skill, such soul-snatching prowess?” Silly, Diary. Now shut up and listen.
The Mock Draft Simulator is built upon the combined knowledge of hundreds of fantasy analysts working as one. It’s like when the Fellowship is first formed in Lord of the Rings, except somehow the Mock Draft Simulator uses even more nerd power. #nerdpower
The tool gives you options for any kind of league that you want: Dynasty, Redraft, PPR, half-point PPR, Non-Pepsi (just kidding but seriously). You can even adjust the style of draft to be Snake, Linear, Auction, or your mom’s house. Or you can use your own custom settings. Draft with 4 total teams, or as many as 32 teams (if that sort of torture is what you’re into, you little freak.) If you’re in a league with obscure positions or forms of scoring, your time has come. You can upload your league info directly to the FantasyPros Mock Draft Tool and let the experts take care of the rest.
I prefer 12 team snake redraft mock drafts, with randomized draft position, using the most recent ECR. Let me show you my latest mock draft so that you can see the power of this fully armed and operational battle station-er, I mean-Mock Draft Tool. You can also use this as a historical record you can use to publicly chastise me in the future. Yippee!
I drafted from the 12 spot in my mock draft. In years past, I would have bludgeoned my head with the nearest wall for having to pick at the turn. Lo, ‘twould’ have been wrong of I. For one does not simply walk into September drafts and win a league in the first round alone, but by finding value throughout the draft. Let’s do this thing.

Here’s my draft. Please note the Draft Pick vs ECR:
1.12. Ezekiel Elliott (RB – DAL). ECR #8.
2.1. Tyreek Hill (WR – KC). ECR #9.
3.12. Julio Jones (WR – ATL). ECR #31.
4.1. David Montgomery. ECR #43. This pick represents my first reach, but I learned something. Montgomery is the #20 RB in ECR, and I took him as the 20th RB off the board. He also finished 2020 with six consecutive 100 yard games. The experts know all. Long live the experts.
5.12. Myles Gaskin (RB – MIA). ECR #65.
6.1. T.J. Hockenson (TE – DET). ECR #52. The Mock Draft Simulator reacts to you! For example, I chose Hock here and the Simulator started a run on TEs. Mark Andrews, Tyler Higbee, and Dallas Goedert were all taken right after I made this pick. It made me feel excited and devoutly insecure at the same time. Like high school. And college. And marriage. Oh boy.
My remaining picks were nearly all ECR bargains and they played out like this: (ECR/Overall pick #)
Raheem Mostert (RB – SF) (74/84), Ronald Jones (RB – TB) (72/85), Noah Fant (TE – DEN) (75/108), Joe Burrow (QB – CIN) (98/109), T.Y. Hilton (WR – IND) (126/132), J.D. McKissic (RB – WAS) (161/133), Tom Brady (QB – TB) (94/156), LAR Defense, and Tyler Bass (K – BUF).
It’s okay if you disagree with those selections. Some might say you’re out of your mind to second guess the totality of fantasy analysts, but I think that’s the whole point of this exercise. The Mock Draft Tool is powerful in ways even unicorns can’t imagine.
Here’s where the FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulator becomes truly magical.
When you finish a mock draft, the Simulator grades your draft out of 100 and compares your team to the other simulated teams. My team ranked as the third best, received a rating of 93 out of 100, and was considered one of the most valuable for selecting players at a discount compared to their ECR. Remember this was the result of picking at the turn! There is hope!
If you’re thinking, “why go through a draft just to learn you can follow the experts?” Thanks for asking so politely! Gold star for you! You can review the entire draft and even redo the draft from certain picks. For example, if I wanted to redo my T.J. Hockenson pick, I could observe that instead of grabbing Hockenson in the sixth, I could instead use that pick on Travis Etienne, who was still available at that time. I can go back, switch my pick and redux the rest of the draft from there.
By doing mock drafts like this, you learn how to use current ECR to your advantage. You learn who to target and when.
Think you know the best draft strategy? RB-heavy early? No RBs? Maybe you want Kelce in Round 1? Test your strategy in the Mock Draft Simulator and see what the experts think.
My mock draft took six minutes. SIX MINUTES. That’s ten mock drafts per hour. 240 in a day. 27,000+ by the time the season starts. Sleep is overrated! Time to slam this Coke and win my league before I get to my first pick. You in?
