Injury News
Amon-Ra St. Brown suffers lower-leg injury during Lions’ practice
Lions’ standout receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is dealing with what seems to be a minor lower right leg injury early in practice and got his ankle taped.
Fantasy Impact
St. Brown did not head to the locker room and rather is working through his injury to the side, a good sign that he avoided a major injury. However, the Lions are likely to be very careful with their third-year wideout. Fantasy managers should monitor how quickly ARSB can return to the practice field, but there seems to be little concern about long-term complications. St. Brown is coming off his first pro-bowl selection and has developed an excellent rapport with Jared Goff. He is a safe, high-end WR2 with WR1 upside in 2023.

Russell Gage (knee) to miss the 2023 season
Buccaneers WR Russell Gage will miss the 2023 season with the knee injury he suffered in practice Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Gage was carted off the field during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Jets. Head coach Todd Bowles stated Gage suffered a “pretty serious” non-contact injury. Although the team did not provide details on the injury, the Buccaneers know they will be without the 27-year-old wideout this season.

Davante Adams (leg) returns to practice Wednesday
Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams will practice Wednesday, per head coach Josh McDaniels.
Fantasy Impact
Adams suffered an apparent leg injury in practice a few days ago, but the Raiders did not seem concerned. It appears that the injury was minor and Adams return to the practice field is a great sign for fantasy managers.

Aaron Rodgers suffers calf injury
Jets QB Aaron Rodgers suffered an apparent calf injury in Tuesday’s practice, but stayed in for the next play.
Fantasy Impact
Although the injury does not appear to be serious considering he stayed in for the next play, it is something to monitor moving forward. According to Rich Cimini, this was Rodgers’ “good” calf and not the one that he injured during OTAs.

Justyn Ross returns to practice Wednesday
Chiefs WR Justyn Ross is back at practice Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Fantasy managers will have to wait for practice reports to see Ross’ level of participation, but it is a great sign to see him back on the practice field. It appears that Ross has avoided any long term injury after exiting practice Tuesday on a cart. Ross is impressing in training camp and has a chance to carve out a role heading into the 2023 season.

Jameson Williams leaves practice with apparent leg injury
Jameson Williams “pulled up holding his right hamstring” during the Lions’ practice, according to beat reporter Kyle Meinke. The second-year wideout walked to the locker room under his own power.
Fantasy Impact
Williams’ tumultuous career continues as the former Alabama stand-out struggles to find his footing. After suffering a torn ACL during the 2022 CFP national championship game, and only managed one catch in his injury-shortened rookie season. Williams walking off under his own power is promising that he will be fully healthy by the time he has served his six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, but he could miss valuable preseason experience. Still, Williams’ mix of talent and the Lions’ upside in 2023 makes him an intriguing player to take a shot on in your drafts to help push you towards the fantasy postseason.

Tee Higgins (leg) returns to practice Wednesday
Tee Higgins is back at practice Wednesday wearing a compression sleeve on his right leg.
Fantasy Impact
Higgins landed awkwardly on his leg at practice Monday, but it looks like there is no concern of a major injury. This still may be a situation worth monitoring over the next few days, but there should be little concern at this point in time.

Cordarrelle Patterson to miss a couple weeks
Atlanta Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a soft tissue injury.
Fantasy Impact
Falcons’ head coach Arthur Smith added that the team will have more info on Patterson’s status the week before Week 1. The 32-year-old is a valuable piece on offense and special teams, so missing Patterson for Week 1 would be a big loss. Fantasy managers will need to continue to monitor his status as we head into the regular season.

Miles Sanders out for Friday’s game, may miss preseason
Carolina Panthers RB Miles Sanders will not play Friday and may miss the remainder of the preseason, per head coach Frank Reich.
Fantasy Impact
Sanders continues to miss time with a groin injury. With Reich already casting doubt on Sanders’ status for the final preseason game, fantasy managers should expect the 26-year-old to see his first game action in Week 1. Sanders currently ranks as the RB18 in ECR, according to FantasyPros.

Treylon Burks to miss a few weeks with LCL sprain
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, WR Treylon Burks suffered an LCL sprain in practice which should keep him out for a few weeks for recovery.
Fantasy Impact
Given the possibilities for Burks’ injury, this is a more positive result. He will miss a few weeks with his knee injury but could still be in play to be available for the Titans’ season opener on September 10, if not hopefully soon after. Burks was a popular “buy” candidate as there was anticipation for a sophomore-year rise. How he returns from injury remains to be seen, but he can be drafted on average as the half-PPR WR41.

Michael Pittman Jr. tweaks ankle at practice
Michael Pittman Jr.tweaked his ankle during practice and had it taped up.
Fantasy Impact
The report mentioned nothing about Pittman missing the rest of practice, so the taping was likely precautionary and he just suffered a minor stinger. However, it’s worth monitoring if the ankle flares up again.
Garrett Ball
Jordan Addison in concussion protocol
Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison is in conclusion protocol and did not practice Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Vikings’ head coach Kevin O’Connell stated that Addison had light symptoms and could be back as early as Monday. Fantasy managers should have no concern as Addison should be back at practice soon. The first-rounder currently ranks as the WR37 in ECR.

NFL Training Camp Notes
Cam Akers kicked out of joint practice after fight
According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Los Angeles Rams RB Cam Akers was kicked out of practice after throwing punches at Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, instigating a fight.
Fantasy Impact
The impetus of the scuffle came from a routine play where Crosby attempted to punch the ball out on a dead play, to which Akers presumably took offense. Akers is expected to be the Los Angeles Rams’ RB1 in 2023 despite his odd falling-out-of-favor drama from last season, where he played less than 40% of the snaps in seven games and was inactive for two. With RB Darrell Henderson out of the picture, Akers is expected to take back the lead. His ADP is half-PPR RB22, and his only competition for touches is Kyren Williams and Zach Evans.

Garrett Wilson returning to form at joint practice
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN NFL Nation, WR Garrett Wilson, who returned to practice on Thursday, was participating in the New York Jets’ joint practice with Tampa Bay, and he was reportedly tough for the Buccaneers to cover.
Fantasy Impact
Wilson missed time with an ankle injury, which he called “the longest two weeks of [his] life.” The Buccaneers and Jets had a joint practice, and Wilson looked to be healthy and back in sync with QB Aaron Rodgers. Wilson is going on average as the half-PPR WR9. He finished his rookie year with 83 catches, 1,103 yards and four touchdowns, good for the half-PPR WR19.

Josh Downs flashing in practice
Josh Downs flashed in practice during 1-on-1s and 7-on-7s. His performance was highlighted by a touchdown catch.
Fantasy Impact
Since returning from an offseason injury, Downs has been impressing in camp. He’s becoming a favorite target of Anthony Richardson in practice and was heralded by Colts’ wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne in the pre-draft process. Downs may take time to get up to NFL speed, but his future is looking bright. He’s a solid pick in dynasty leagues and a late-round flier in redraft formats.
Garrett Ball
Jonathan Taylor excused from team for personal matter
Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has left the team due to a personal matter.
Fantasy Impact
Taylor’s absence is excused as he attends to a personal matter. Taylor returned to the team Monday to continue rehabbing his injured ankle and remained on the PUP list. There is no timetable currently for Taylor’s return to the team, but the team should announce when he returns to the practice field.
