Smash Spots
Max Fried (SP – NYY) vs. CLE
Max Fried has been dominant this season, putting up a 1.29 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 16 walks and 67 strikeouts in 70 innings.
This is a great matchup against the Guardians, who have a 24.6% strikeout rate versus lefties (22nd).
Robbie Ray (SP – SF) vs. SD
Robbie Ray has been on a roll lately, allowing one earned run or fewer in four of his last five starts. The veteran lefty now has a 2.56 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 27 walks and 69 strikeouts in 63.1 innings.
This is another good spot at home in a pitcher-friendly environment against a Padres team that has a 79 wRC+ in the last 14 days (28th).
Hunter Greene (SP – CIN) vs. MIL
Hunter Greene has been much better at home this season, putting up a 1.86 ERA and 0.69 WHIP with seven walks and 38 strikeouts in 29 innings.
This is an exploitable matchup against the Brewers, who have an 87 wRC+ in the last 14 days (22nd).
Risky Starts
Sonny Gray (SP – STL) vs. LAD
Sonny Gray is in a tough spot at home against a Dodgers offense that is starting to wake up, putting up 20 runs in their last three games.
It’s always a challenge to face such a stacked lineup filled with superstars, making Gray a risky play this week. While you’re still starting him, there’s a risk of an underwhelming outing.
Tanner Bibee (SP – CLE) @ NYY
Tanner Bibee hasn’t been himself this season, as highlighted by a 19.2% strikeout rate, which is a sizeable decrease from last year’s 26.3% number.
Going to Yankee Stadium is always a risky start, especially for a righty who has a 4.33 SIERA on the season.
Tyler Mahle (SP – TEX) @ TB
Tyler Mahle has been fantastic this season, registering a 1.64 ERA, but this feels unsustainable given his 4.52 SIERA.
Negative regression is coming soon, and it’s likely to hit hard. There’s a reasonable chance that this happens in this tough matchup in a hitter-friendly environment at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Two-Start Pitchers
Lance McCullers (SP – HOU) @ PIT, @ CLE
Lance McCullers is coming off a dominant outing against the Athletics, where he struck out 12 hitters in only six innings.
Up next are a pair of exploitable matchups against the Pirates (29th in wRC+ versus righties) and the Guardians (19th in wRC+ versus righties).
Dustin May (SP – LAD) vs. NYM, @ STL
Dustin May has performed well lately, recording eight or more strikeouts in three consecutive outings.
That’s why you have to fire up the Dodgers righty in a two-start week, even though the matchups aren’t great against the Mets and Cardinals.
George Kirby (SP – SEA) vs. BAL, @ LAA
George Kirby has struggled in two starts since coming off the injured list (IL), allowing 11 earned runs in 8.2 innings.
But this feels like two matchups to get back on track, including a home outing against the struggling Orioles and a road game against a strikeout-prone Angels team.
Top Streamers
Shane Smith (SP – CWS) vs. DET, @ KC
Shane Smith has allowed three earned runs in each of his last two outings, but this is a two-start week where you can pick him up off the waiver wire to rack up at least 10 combined strikeouts.
While the first matchup against the Tigers is tough, the second one against the Royals is good (26th in wRC+ versus righties).
Landen Roupp (SP – SF) vs. SD
Landen Roupp has allowed one earned run or fewer in three consecutive starts, so it’s clear he’s starting to get back on track for the Giants.
Next up is a good spot at home against the Padres, who have one of the coldest offenses of late.
Max Meyer (SP – MIA) vs. COL
Max Meyer has hit a wall for the Marlins, allowing four or more earned runs in four of his last six starts.
But this is the perfect get-right spot at home against the Rockies, who have the second-highest strikeout rate against righties this season.
