Closer News & Notes

Robert Suarez continues to lead the way in baseball with 29 saves. He has posted a 1.29 ERA with six saves across eight appearances in July as he remains the most consistent closer for fantasy managers.

We had the first trade involving a reliever on Friday, with the Mets acquiring Gregory Soto from the Orioles. Edwin Diaz will remain in his closer role, but Soto should hold a high-leverage role. He has struggled in July, but has still posted a respectable 3.96 ERA on the season with one save over 36.1 innings across 45 appearances.

Related to the Orioles, Baltimore placed Felix Bautista on the injured list (IL). It will likely be a committee for saves in his absence between Seranthony Dominguez, Andrew Kittredge and Yennier Cano.

While Kyle Finnegan is still in the top 15 with 19 saves on the season, he has only logged one save since June 7th and two saves since the start of June. His opportunities have been limited as the Nationals continue to struggle.

David Bednar is a closer to monitor who could be on the move within the next week. Griffin Jax of the Twins is another high-leverage reliever who could draw some interest from a contending team.
