Takeaways
- Robert Suarez regains the top spot. He closed out the first half with five scoreless appearances, allowing a single baserunner and zero runs with six strikeouts. He struggled in 10.1 innings in June, but has completely bounced back. We’re looking for him to be more consistent in the second half this year compared to last.
- As of July 19th, Jeremiah Estrada has not allowed an earned run in a month. In his last 11 innings, he’s allowed four hits and three walks with a save, seven holds and a win. He has a 13 K/9 and 1.26 FIP in that span.
- Trevor Megill ended the first half with four scoreless innings, allowing only two baserunners and picking up eight strikeouts. He has held the closer’s job all year despite some early struggles. However, Abner Uribe could get some opportunities, having a phenomenal season himself.

Biggest Risers
Felix Bautista (RP – BAL) | +6
Felix Bautista has quietly returned to his pre-injury form. Since June 1st, he’s only allowed one run in 15 innings, giving up three hits and six walks, while striking out 24 batters. He ranks eighth among all relievers in strikeout-minus-walk rate (K-BB%) in that period, and has the third-best strikeout rate of that same group.
Alex Vesia (RP – LAD) | +7
I’ve had a hard time ranking Alex Vesia. He’s pitched great this year, but is one of two high-leverage lefties in the Dodgers’ bullpen. Traditionally, we don’t see two lefties getting high-value looks in fantasy. However, Dave Roberts does not care about that, and Vesia has been the second-most valuable pitcher in their bullpen.
Vesia has the best ERA (2.50), WHIP (0.91) and second-best K/9 (12.7) among Dodgers relievers. His 21 saves plus holds ranks only second to Tanner Scott, who has a 4.09 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.
Biggest Fallers
Chris Martin (RP – TEX)| -6
Chris Martin has been solid since returning from the injured list in early June. In the past month and a half, he’s pitched 13 innings, given up 15 hits and two walks, while allowing four earned runs.
However, he’s only picked up four saves plus holds and 11 strikeouts, while giving up three home runs in that timeframe. He still has the best numbers in their bullpen, but his WHIP has been increasing each month.
Shelby Miller (RP – ARI) | Injured List
Shelby Miller joins A.J. Puk and Justin Martinez on the injured list (IL) with a potential season-ending surgery. His season line sits at a 1.98 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 18 saves plus holds and a 9.9 K/9. He was working on his third-straight sub-1.00 WHIP season.
Kevin Ginkel and Kendall Graveman have some closing experience and could see opportunities the rest of the way. Ginkel has an 8.18 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 22 innings. Graveman has a 7.84 ERA and 2.13 WHIP in 10.1 innings. Neither are targets in saves plus holds leagues as of now.
