Fantasy Football Injuries to Know for Week 8
A.J. Brown (WR – PHI)
A.J. Brown (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday.
A.J. Brown has been unable to practice all week due to a hamstring injury, so he was ruled out for Week 8 against the Giants. Expect DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert to get peppered with targets in this matchup. The Eagles have a bye in Week 9, so it makes sense to rest Brown for a return in Week 10.
Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL)
Lamar Jackson (hamstring) is questionable for Week 8.
Lamar Jackson has been able to get in full practices this week, but he’s still listed as questionable for Week 8. I’m betting that he’ll play, especially since it’s a must-win game for the Ravens if they want to remain in playoff contention. Perhaps Jackson won’t be as dominant as usual, but you still have to fire him up if you have him.
Cole Kmet (TE – CHI)
Cole Kmet (back) is out for Sunday.
Cole Kmet has been ruled out for Week 8 due to a back injury. The stage is set for rookie tight end Colston Loveland to make an impact for the Bears’ passing game. Loveland was the 10th overall pick for good reason. This is a player who can win downfield. I have Loveland as one of my favorite TE streamers for Week 8.
D’Andre Swift (RB – CHI)
D’Andre Swift (groin) is questionable for Week 8.
D’Andre Swift is at risk of missing Week 8 due to a groin injury. If Swift misses this game, expect to see Kyle Monangai have a heavy workload. You can fire up Monangai as an upside RB2 if that happens. The risk here is that if Swift does play, we could see a reduced role compared to usual because he’s not at 100%.
Alvin Kamara (RB – NO)
Alvin Kamara (ankle) will play in Week 8.
Despite being limited with an ankle injury all week, Alvin Kamara is set to suit up for the Saints this week. With the veteran showing signs of decline and dealing with injuries, it makes sense to pick up Devin Neal as a stash, especially since Kendre Miller is out for the season. It will be interesting to see what Kamara’s workload looks like this week.
Deebo Samuel Sr. (WR – WSH)
Deebo Samuel Sr. (heel) practiced on Friday.
Deebo Samuel looks ready to return, just in time for a tough matchup on the road against the Chiefs. The Commanders need all the help they can get for this one, especially since Marcus Mariota will be starting. The good news is that Mariota in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense is one of the best backups in the NFL, so perhaps Samuel can still provide WR2 value here.
Terry McLaurin (WR – WSH)
Terry McLaurin (quad) practiced on Friday.
It looks like we’re finally going to get the long-awaited return of Terry McLaurin for this Monday Night Football contest against the Chiefs. With the Chiefs starting to look like the best team in the NFL, the Commanders desperately need their deep threat back in the lineup. There’s WR2 upside here, especially with the Commanders likely playing from behind.
Calvin Ridley (WR – TEN)
Calvin Ridley (hamstring) ruled out for Week 8.
Calvin Ridley is going to miss a second consecutive game with a hamstring injury. Expect the Titans to continue to struggle in a tough matchup on the road against the Colts. Either Elic Ayomanor or Chimere Dike has some WR4 upside due to increased opportunity.
