Cam Gallagher (hamstring) activated from 10-day IL Monday

Cam Gallagher has been activated from the 10-day IL and RHP Matt Peacock has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move as reported by MLB.com's Sarah Wexler. (Sarah Wexler, MLB.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Cam Gallagher has been sidelined for seven weeks with a strained hamstring and a rehab stint in Omaha. In that time, MJ Melendez has been called up and cemented himself as the primary backup catcher to Salvador Perez and regular in the starting lineup, thus relegating Gallagher to third/emergency catcher status. That being said, Melendez has been used in the outfield and as DH so there are more paths to catching than there could be for Gallagher but he remains largely irrelevant for fantasy purposes, barring an injury to either of the aforementioned Perez or Melendez. The Royals don't have to carry three catchers, so it speaks to how they value Gallagher, but still, for fantasy purposes, he is a far cry from a regular option.
