Fantasy Impact:
Lovullo said he spoke with Gurriel on Wednesday, and Gurriel told him he expected to be ready for Opening Day, highlighting how well he’s feeling after undergoing ACL surgery in September. However, Lovullo confirmed Gurriel will not be ready to start the season. With Corbin Carroll (hand) also recovering from surgery, the Diamondbacks will lean on Alek Thomas and Jordan Lawlar in the outfield, with Tim Tawa and Jorge Barrosa likely competing for left field in spring training.
