Carlos Santana (groin) on IL after Sunday injury

Santana strained his right adductor during Sunday's game against Atlanta and will need at least a week and a half to recover. With Pavin Smith (elbow) also on the injured list, Arizona is thin at both first base and DH. (Arizona Diamondbacks)

The Diamondbacks placed Santana on the 10-day IL Tuesday. Ildemaro Vargas is starting at first base and Adrian Del Castillo at DH against the Mets on Tuesday.
