Merrill Kelly tosses seven strong innings in win over Mets
by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Sun, May 10th 1:12am EDT
Merrill Kelly allowed one run on three hits, walked three, and struck out six over seven innings on Saturday as the Diamondbacks defeated the Mets, 2-1.
Fantasy Impact:
Kelly finally put it all together on Saturday and easily had his best outing of the season as he held the Mets to a run on three hits in seven innings. He had allowed 19 runs on 24 hits and an 11:11 K:BB ratio in 13.2 innings in his prior three starts and Saturday was also the first time this season he had not allowed a home run. Kelly still has an unsightly 7.62 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP in five starts, but Saturday's performance was, obviously, a major step in the right direction. He'll look to keep it going in Colorado on Friday.
