Ildemaro Vargas drives in both runs in victory over Mets
by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Sun, May 10th 1:02am EDT
Ildemaro Vargas went 1-for-4 with a two-run single, lifting the Diamondbacks to a 2-1 win over the Mets on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact:
Vargas' two-run single in the third inning off of Mets' starter, Clay Holmes, proved to be all of the offense the Diamondbacks would need as three Arizona pitchers combined on a three-hitter. Vargas has cooled off a bit, but has still hit safely in five of his last six games after seeing his 27-game hitting streak come to an end on May 2. The veteran is hitting .350 with six home runs and 24 runs batted in through 31 games. He has already tied his career high in home runs and is just eight RBI away from surpassing his career best of 31 he had back in 2023.
