Michael Conforto hits game-tying home run in ninth Sunday
by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Sun, May 17th 11:04pm EDT
Michael Conforto hit a game-tying three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning as part of a two-hit day on Sunday. The White Sox, however, won the game, 9-8, in 10 innings.
Fantasy Impact:
Conforto connected on his third home run of the season off of White Sox' closer, Seranthony Dominguez, with two on and one out in the ninth to tie the game at 7-7. It was Conforto's second hit of the day as he added a single in the fifth, and also drew a walk in the third. The veteran has been swinging a hot bat and, as a result, has seen his playing time increase over the past couple of weeks. Conforto is batting .400 (10-for-25) with four doubles, three home runs, and six runs batted in over the course of 10 games this month. Overall, Conforto is hitting .345 with a 1.111 OPS in 55 at bats this season. He should continue to see regular action as the Cubs' designated hitter against right-handed pitching.
