Valdez is the No. 9 prospect in the Pittsburgh organization and will bring a big power bat to the Pirates, along with the ability to play in the outfield or at first base. The 22-year-old has slashed .253/.381/.506 with 10 homers and 29 RBI in 46 games at the Triple-A level this season.
