Chicago White Sox manager Will Venable confirmed Munetaka Murakami has begun baseball activities. (MLB.com)

Murakami suffered a right hamstring strain on May 29 against the Detroit Tigers and has since progressed to running, throwing and hitting off a tee. Venable said the club plans to gradually increase the difficulty of his hitting work before determining the next steps in his recovery. The manager also noted that Murakami does not have a firm timetable for a return.
