Zack Wheeler gave up eight runs on nine hits and five walks while striking out four over four-plus innings in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Mariners.
Fantasy Impact:
Wheeler just did not have it Monday. The veteran righty surrendered four long balls, including back-to-back shots to the first two batters he faced in the fifth inning, which ended his frustrating night on the mound. Wheeler has uncharacteristically struggled with his control over his last four outings, issuing 15 free passes across 19 1/3 innings. He has registered 22 strikeouts during that span but also an ugly 8.38 ERA. Though no health issue has been reported to date, something definitely seems off with Wheeler.
