Aldrick Rosas nails two FGs in Giants' pre-season opener
Aldrick Rosas, signed to a reserve/future contract in the off-season, nailed two field goals in the Giants' pre-season opener on Friday night against the Steelers, one of which was a 52-yarder. Rosas has impressed the Giants' coaching staff in the off-season and drawn high praise. His performance on Friday did nothing to dissuade the Giants from naming the 22-year old as the starting K for 2017.
Matt Harvey, who has been on the DL since June 15 due to a right shoulder stress injury, will begin a rehab assignment on Saturday for the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones. The Mets have indicated that if all goes well on Saturday, he will make at least one more rehab start in the minors before coming off the DL and rejoining the Mets. As such, Harvey could be back as soon as late-August.

AJ Ramos with second save for Mets in 7-6 win over Phillies
AJ Ramos picked up his second save with the Mets on Friday working a clean ninth inning in the Mets' 7-6 win over the Phillies. Ramos struck out one in his lone inning of work. He now has 22 saves on the season against just two blown saves.
Seth Lugo with pedestrian start against Phillies on Friday
Seth Lugo lasted just 5 1/3 IP against the Phillies on Friday, allowing five earned runs, four walks and eight hits. While his ERA and WHIP suffered, he did manage to strike out eight in his short appearance. The Mets went on to win 7-6, though Lugo did not factor into the decision.
A.J. Ramos was dealt to the Mets on Friday night in a quite surprising trade. The Mets, who are sellers, bought in on Ramos who is 2-4 this season with 20 saves, a 3.63 ERA and 47K's in 39 2/3 innings of work. The Marlins pick up two minor leaguers from the Mets in the deal.

Steven Matz shellacked by Padres in 6-3 loss
Steven Matz lasted just three innings against the Padres on Wednesday night allowing six earned runs and nine hits, while striking out four, in the Mets' 6-3 loss. It was the fourth consecutive poor start for Matz who is now 0-3 over that period with a brutal 14.18 ERA (13 1/3 IP).
Addison Reed with another shaky save against Padres
Addison Reed picked up his 18th save of the season on Tuesday, preserving the Mets' 6-5 win over the Padres. Although he notched the save, Reed was touched up for a run and two hits in his one inning of work, marking the second game in a row that the Padres got to Reed and made things interesting.
Seth Lugo with a QS in win over Padres on Tuesday
Seth Lugo went six innings against the Padres in the Mets' 6-5 win on Tuesday allowing eight hits, four runs (three earned), walking none and striking out one. After last night’s win, Lugo is now 5-2 with a 4.10 ERA, 4.25 FIP and 1.348 WHIP on the season. In 52 2/3 IP, Lugo has walked 14 and struck out 34.
Addison Reed picks up his 17th save in gut-wrenching fashion
Addison Reed closed out the Mets' 5-3 win over the Padres on Monday night, but not before giving the Mets and their fans a huge scare in the process. Called on to preserve a 5-2 lead in the ninth inning, Reed entered the game and promptly allowed a lead-off home run to Hunter Renfroe. After allowing two of the next three batters to reach base, Jabari Blash hit what appeared to be a three-run walk-off home run to win the game for the Padres. The ball, however, sailed barely foul - a call which was upheld on video review. Reed rallied to strike out Blash and subsequently retired Matt Szczur for the final out of the game.
Jacob deGrom wins his eighth straight start
Jacob deGrom won his eighth straight start going eight solid innings against the Padres on Monday night in the Mets' 5-3 win. deGrom allowed only five hits, two walks and two earned runs while striking out eight. He improved to 12-3 on the season and became the first Mets' pitcher to win eight straight starts since Bobby Jones accomplished that feat in 1997.
Jacob deGrom wins seventh straight start
Jacob deGrom won his seventh straight start as the Mets defeated the Cardinals 7-3 on Wednesday night. deGrom went 6 2/3 innings allowing seven hits, one walk and just one earned run, while striking out three. After 125 2/3 IP on the season, deGrom now has a 3.37 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and an excellent 144/40 K:BB ratio.
