The main slate on FanDuel provides 13 of the 15 games being played today. If you’re going to play in 50/50s or Head-to-Head contests, Chris Sale or Chris Archer are your safest options. Sale and Archer also make fine tournament options but there are other pitchers that are intriguing as well.

The run totals range from 6.5-8.5 with over half of the teams being heavy favorites. The Mets, Angels, Tigers, Pirates, Dodgers, Braves, Blue Jays, White Sox, and Cardinals all have a projected team total over 4.0 runs. The recommendations below will not feature one of the elite arms on the mound as this lineup is geared towards a tournament.

Every game looks to have good weather for baseball tonight. Pay attention to games with high temperatures or winds blowing out. Make sure to stay updated on the weather by following Kevin Roth on Twitter @KevinRothWx. He will have a full DFS forecast.

Pitcher

Miller has been incredibly unlucky for most of the season. Miller is a -140 favorite at home and draws a decent matchup vs. the Rockies tonight. The Rockies are ranked first overall in wOBA vs. right-handed pitching but most of that is due to playing half of their games in Coors Field. If Carlos Gonzalez is out of the lineup (knee), Miller gets an extra bump. Shelby owns a 3.29 FIP, 20.9 K% with a stellar 0.51 HR/9.

Other Notables

Catcher

Martin was back in the lineup yesterday after missing a couple of games due to a hamstring injury. Over his career he has hit righties better than lefties. Martin will most likely hit sixth in the lineup with the Blue Jays having the highest projected team total tonight. Martin has a .332 wOBA, 110 wRC+, .189 ISO this season.

Other Notables

First Base

All aboard the E5 train! Anytime Encarnacion is in the middle of a hot streak you have to try and get him into your lineup. E5 is white-hot right now with four HR in his last 10 games with 11 RBI. Take a look at his game log if you don’t believe me. Encarnacion has a .368 wOBA, 135 wRC+, .245 ISO this season.

Other Notables

Second Base

Hernandez is having a solid season for the Dodgers and has excelled hitting left-handed pitching. If he hits at the top of the order he gets an additional bump. The Dodgers have a high projected team total and get a ballpark boost in Cincinnati. Hernandez comes into this game with a .355 wOBA, 129 wRC+, .194 ISO.

Other Notables

Third Base

Frazier is at a huge discount due to his post All-Star break slump. If you take a look at him game log, he is starting to find his stroke again. Frazier will probably be the highest owned third baseman tonight but for a good reason. Sometimes the easy play is the right play and tonight Frazier will prove that to you. The Todd Father has raked at home vs. left-handed pitching, posting a .503 wOBA, 224 wRC+, .413 ISO. Those are video game numbers.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Just like Frazier, Peralta should be the highest owned shortstop and for good reason. Peralta’s price tag is way too cheap tonight. Peralta mashes left-handed pitching and would be the top option regardless of price. Peralta gets the ballpark boost in Arizona and comes into play with a .349 wOBA, 124 wRC+, .246 ISO vs. left-handed pitching this season.

Other Notables

Outfield

Bautista hit his 30th HR of the season in yesterday’s game vs. the Rangers. Colby Lewis won’t be able to overpower Bautista in today’s matchup and will have to pitch to him with Encarnacion being Bautista’s protection in the lineup. The temperature will be in the 90’s helping the ball carry a bit further. Bautista is posting a .373 wOBA, 139 wRC+, .280 ISO this season.

Martinez is a monster and on most nights he is lower owned than he should be. Martinez has 33 HR on the year and doesn’t seem to be getting nearly as much attention as some of the other big bats. J.D. comes into this game with a .384 wOBA, 147 wRC+, .266 ISO this season.

Puig always makes for a great tournament play, as he is somewhat of a box of chocolates. Puig quietly has an eight-game hitting streak and looks to be motivated and confident at the plate. Puig nearly hit one out yesterday as the ball hit off the wall. Puig draws another favorable matchup vs. the left-handed David Holmberg. Puig has a .378 wOBA, 145 wRC+, .246 ISO vs. left-handed pitching this season.
