Hey, everyone. Jared from Fantasy Cruncher here. I’ll be writing the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday FanDuel MLB Lineup Advice articles every week for FantasyPros this year. Really excited to share my thoughts and recommended plays with you throughout the season!
We have a solid 12 game slate to consider tonight.

Overall Thoughts
There are some options to consider below the $10,000 mark – but I love what Keuchel brings to the table tonight. I’ll be rolling with him as I see a handful of mid-range value bats on the board that I have no problem rostering. I feel this lineup is well-positioned for cash game deployment rather than GPPs, though. My priority is to have exposure to St. Louis and Minnesota bats today as I love the spots they are in, while sprinkling in some other one-offs as well.
Pitcher
Dallas Keuchel (HOU): $10,900 @ KC
Keuchel has a higher opponent total than one would think considering the Royals have a .278 team wOBA vs LHP on the year, but it’s still in a great spot overall. From a pure skills perspective, I would take him over Greinke any day of the week thanks to an elite ground ball rate (78% over the last month) and a mere 18.2% hard hit rate in that span as well. The Royals have limited Ks vs LHP all year (18.7% K rate for the split), but that doesn’t really bother me. I expect 7-8 IP of 1-2 run ball and a win against KC today and will happily pay up for him in this spot.
Other Notables
Catcher
Manny Pina (MIL) : $2,300 vs SF
Ty Blach isn’t the kind of guy you necessarily want to go heavy against as he does limit his hard contact – but for a middle-of-the-order bat that allows the opponent to put the ball in play, it’s hard to argue with the $2,300 price point for Pina today. He has hits in 4 of his last 5 and brings a solid floor to the table at a thin position tonight.
Other Notables
First Base
Matt Carpenter (STL) : $3,000 @ CIN
Attacking Bronson Arroyo as long as the Reds throw him out there is high on my DFS priority list, and even though Carpenter hasn’t been seeing terrific results of late, this is the kind of value and match-up that I want to take full advantage of. He continues to be a high-OBP skill bat in an advantageous split tonight vs a hittable RHP and will likely hit in the #2 hole like he usually does. For $3,000 you can’t go wrong.
Other Notables
Second Base
Brian Dozier (MIN): $3,400 @ SEA
The other weak SP that I want to attack here is Yovani Gallardo who is pitching his way into a new low these days. The Twins mash RHP and Dozier is coming off a game where he homered and now has 5 hits in his last 6 games. For a leadoff hitter on a high-powered offense against a soft SP, sign me up for $3,400.
Other Notables
Third Base
Jedd Gyorko (STL): $3,300 @ CIN
Gyorko is an attractive mid-range power bat today who is making solid contact of late and should hit in the #4 spot for the Cardinals against Arroyo today. He provides one of the best ISO:FD salary ratios on the board for the 3B position, and his team’s total of over 5 runs vs CIN makes him a prime target in DFS.
Other Notables
Shortstop
Elvis Andrus (TEX) : $3,500 vs NYM
Andrus is a bit more expensive than I want him to be, but I need a piece of the Rangers offense tonight vs Wheeler. He hits in the 2-hole for Texas and is on some kind of tear over the last couple weeks. He has hits in every game since May 24 (vs Chris Sale) and Texas is projected for 5.3 runs vs the Mets tonight. There are a couple punt options at SS you can consider, but it’s hard to ignore how well he’s been playing, considering he brings a solid OBP and SB skill to the table.
Other Notables
Outfield
Robbie Grossman (MIN): $3,400 @ SEA
On our Fantasy Cruncher Optimizer tool, I forced in two Twins bats as I was constructing my lineup. Grossman is a little more expensive than I want him to be, but he’s been a high floor producer lately and continues to hit in the middle of the order for Minnesota. As a high-OBP , uy his match-up against Gallardo makes him a nice under-the-radar play that fits this lineup well. He’s a prime GPP option today as well as I don’t expect him to be highly-owned.
Hernan Perez (MIL): $2,900 vs SF
The sub-$3,000 price for Perez is attractive for me here, especially since we are talking about a multi-talented guy that has been on a nice run of late. He has 9+ FDP in 3 of his last 4 games and 6 of 8, thanks in large part to run-scoring and RBI production as a middle-of-the-order bat. He’s a better cash game than GPP play, though.
Chris Young (BOS): $2,200 @ NYY
This price is a steal for Chris Young vs C.C. Sabathia, who I expect to have some trouble against the Red Sox tonight. He’s a prime value option that should be popular thanks to the elite SPs available and positive LHP vs RHB split numbers that Young holds – but I have zero issue making him a part of this roster as the value is too good to ignore in a nice spot.
