Week 14 Mid-Range Passers with QB1 Upside
Patrick Mahomes (QB -KC) : ECR QB6
It’s insane to see Mahomes ranked this low, but I understand it. However, Mahomes gets a Raiders defense he shredded for 406 yards and five touchdowns a few weeks ago. Expect the Raiders to adjust, but this matchup is still juicy.
Aaron Rodgers (QB – GB): ECR QB8
Rodgers said it himself; he owns the Chicago Bears. Hopefully, coming off the bye week, his toe injury has healed, and he can dominate his rival again.
Russell Wilson (QB – SEA): ECR QB11
Wilson may have figured things out last week against San Francisco. Now he gets a Texans offense that doesn’t have the talent to keep up with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Expect Seattle’s offense to keep the momentum going.
Taysom Hill (QB – NO): ECR QB9
Hill’s finger injury is concerning, but he might not have to throw much against a Jets defense that can’t stop anything. I’m expecting Hill’s value to come primarily through his rushing. The return of Alvin Kamara can only help, so long as he’s not vulturing touchdowns.
Week 14 Streaming Options
Cam Newton (QB – CAR): ECR QB13
Starting Newton is a risk for a handful of reasons. First, he can’t throw. Second, the firing of offensive coordinator Joe Brady throws some uncertainty into what Carolina’s offense will look like. Third, like Hill, I expect Cam to provide a chunk of his value via the ground. And against Atlanta’s defense, there’s potential for a multi-touchdown game.
Teddy Bridgewater (QB – DEN): ECR QB18
Bridgewater’s fantasy appeal has fallen off a cliff, as Denver’s passing game is hard to trust right now. But a matchup with a poor Detroit defense that’s battling a flu outbreak could be just what the doctor ordered.
Baker Mayfield (QB – CLE): ECR QB22
Hopefully, the bye week gave Mayfield enough time to heal his wounds. We know he won’t be 100% the rest of the way, but hopefully, he’ll come out as healthy as he can be. If he is, he’ll get a Baltimore secondary that is so banged up. It forced John Harbaugh’s hand to go for two at the end of their loss to Pittsburgh last week.
Ryan Tannehill (QB – TEN): ECR QB17
Tannehill is an option because he gets a subpar Jaguars defense and could get Julio Jones back from injured reserve. He’s not a safe option, but there’s an upside.
