Fantasy Football Injury News
Logan Thomas (calf) being treated with ‘caution’ in return
Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said the team is “maybe … being overly cautious” with veteran TE Logan Thomas, who hasn’t practiced in a week due to a calf strain.
Fantasy Impact
Thomas is dealing with a calf strain, much like the one QB Joe Burrow suffered, so his timeline for recovery is a couple of weeks. Part of the abundance in caution for Thomas is his age, as the veteran TE is already 32 and has been no stranger to injury the last few years. Thomas had 323 yards in 14 games in 2022, played 68% of the team’s snaps last season – the lowest of his career in Washington – and is multiple years removed from his PPR TE3 finish in 2020. It’s hard to have optimism in Thomas in 2023, especially with rumblings about TE Cole Turner – who led the team in targets in preseason Week 1 – and the recent signing of Kaden Smith.

Miles Sanders continues to deal with groin injury
Miles Sanders is continuing to deal with a groin injury, per Panthers’ head coach Frank Reich.
Fantasy Impact
Sanders tweaked his groin in practice last Wednesday and it is continuing to bother him. Sanders also missed the team’s first preseason game against the Jets. He currently ranks as the RB17 in ECR, but will need to get healthy prior to the start of the regular season to begin building chemistry with rookie QB Bryce Young.

Mike Gesicki exits Monday’s practice early
Mike Gesicki exited Monday’s practice with an apparent injury.
Fantasy Impact
Gesicki was helped off the practice field Monday after being injured in a one-on-one tackle drill. Based on practice reports, it appears that he may have injured his shoulder while taking the brunt of the tackle. The Patriots should release information on the severity of his injury soon.

J.K. Dobbins activated from PUP list Monday
The Ravens activated RB J.K. Dobbins off the PUP list Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Dobbins will now be eligible to practice for the first time during training camp. Dobbins underwent another surgery on his knee last season and was limited to just eight games in 2022. The 24-year-old currently ranks as the RB23 in ECR, according to FantasyPros. Fantasy managers should expect Dobbins to continue to split time with Gus Edwards in 2023.

Jonathan Taylor returns to camp, remains on PUP list
Jonathan Taylor has returned to Colts’ camp after spending time away rehabbing his ankle. He remains on the PUP list and his stance with the Colts has not changed.
Fantasy Impact
Taylor still wants the Colts to honor his request to be traded and will not participate in practice until he is 100% healthy. The star running back took time away from the team to rehab his ankle, an injury that impacted his performance last season. Taylor would have to be removed from the PUP list prior to the start of the 2023 season or be required to sit out the first four games. Fantasy managers will want to monitor the situation heading into fantasy drafts, with Taylor currently ranking as the RB9 in ECR.

Kendre Miller (knee) likely to miss a few weeks
Kendre Miller underwent tests that confirmed he suffered a knee sprain Sunday. The third-round pick is expected to miss a few weeks, but the team is optimistic he will be ready for Week 1.
Fantasy Impact
The good news for Miller and the Saints is that he will not require surgery. Considering he had surgery last year to repair his MCL and meniscus, there was cause for concern. Fantasy managers should expect the Saints to turn to Jamaal Williams in Week 1 if Miller is not healthy enough to suit up and with Alvin Kamara serving a suspension.

Zach Ertz fully cleared, expected to start Week 1
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, veteran TE Zach Ertz has been cleared for full football activity and is expected to be ready to start Week 1.
Fantasy Impact
Ertz tore his ACL and MCL in Week 10 of last season after starting off the year strong. He finished 2022 with 47 catches for 406 yards and four touchdowns in less than 10 games. The worry is how Ertz, who is almost 33, will be able to perform physically after two major ligament tears, but he will immediately have a role with the team. Second-year TE Trey McBride got the starter treatment in the preseason opener, being rested, but he may be relegated to TE2 duties.
