NFL Rumors

Jonathan Taylor drawing trade interest

Jonathan Taylor is reportedly drawing trade interest from several teams.

Fantasy Impact

This remains a situation to monitor as Taylor remains on the PUP list with the Colts. It still feels like it will be difficult for a team to not only want to trade for Taylor, but also extend him. The start of the regular season is in just over a month, so hopefully this situation gets cleared up soon.

Alvin Kamara expected to face suspension, length unknown

Alvin Kamara is expected to be suspended by the NFL, but the length of the suspension is still to be determined.

Fantasy Impact

Kamara is expected to meet with Roger Goodell on Wednesday at which point we should know how long Kamara will be suspended. This will be a situation to monitor over the next 24 hours or so.

Injury News

J.K. Dobbins: Harbaugh uncertain when RB will return

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that he talked to RB J.K. Dobbins, who is currently on the PUP list and has missed a week of practice, on Tuesday night and does not know when he will return to the field.

Fantasy Impact

Dobbins has a history of injury, including a pre-season injury that cost him his entire sophomore season and part of his third year in the NFL. Dobbins is also looking for a new contract, as he is entering the last year of his rookie deal. Harbaugh says both he and Dobbins are on the same page about wanting to return to the field, but an exact date is unclear for both parties. It appears as though Dobbins may be conducting a hold-in to earn that next deal, which brings immediate concern for fantasy managers that it could last into the regular season. If he misses time, RB Gus Edwards – who is quietly one of the most steadily contributing RBs in the NFL – would see an increased role as the team’s RB1.

Cooper Kupp (hamstring) expected to miss a few weeks

Cooper Kupp is expected to miss a few weeks after an MRI revealed a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact

The team is going to be cautious with their star wide receiver this early in training camp. It appears the Rams and fantasy managers avoided losing the 30-year-old to a long term injury considering he is expected to only miss a few weeks and could be back for scrimmages, per Adam Schefter’s reporting. Kupp currently ranks as the WR3 in ECR, according to FantasyPros.

Calvin Ridley‘s toe injury related to cleats

Calvin Ridley‘s toe injury was reportedly related to the cleats he was wearing.

Fantasy Impact

Ridley switched his cleats on Wednesday, which is expected to solve the issue. He should be back to being a full-go in practice soon.

Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) expected to be cleared for contact by August 20

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco is expected to be cleared for contact by August 20.

Fantasy Impact

Pacheco’s hand is reportedly all good. It is his shoulder that still needs to be cleared. Nonetheless, he remains on track to be fully healthy heading into Week 1.

Rookie Watch

Dalton Kincaid will be used often in 12 personnel

Dalton Kincaid will be used in 12 personnel sets with Dawson Knox, something the team plans to do often in 2023 according to the Bills GM.

Fantasy Impact

Dalton Kincaid has been impressive so far in camp and has shown to be a more than capable pass catcher. While the presumptive No.2 target in Buffalo is the inconsistent Gabe Davis, Kincaid may overtake him for that spot at some point. Rookie tight ends have a steep learning curve stepping up into the NFL, so it may not be this season. But he has the potential to be the next man up behind Stefon Diggs in the future.

Anthony Richardson takes all first-team reps in practice

Anthony Richardson took all of the first-team reps at Colts training camp on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

This report comes after Richardson reportedly took second-team reps in practice behind Gardner Minshew last week. It would be quite a surprise if Richardson does not start for the Colts in Week 1.

Bryce Young unconcerned with early interceptions in camp

Panthers QB Bryce Young and HC Frank Reich remain unconcerned despite the rookies turnover problems early in camp.

Fantasy Impact

Young threw an interception for the fourth straight practice on Tuesday as the Panthers continue to work on red zone offense. “I’m big on controlling what I can control and turn the page,” Young said. He remains on track to start for Carolina in Week 1 next month.

Zay Flowers continues to solidify himself in camp

Zay Flowers has continued a strong training camp and has solidified himself alongside Odell Beckham as the top-two wide receivers for the Ravens this season.

Fantasy Impact

Flowers reportedly had his most impressive practice on Tuesday. He won all three of his one-on-one battles, showcasing his route running and caught two touchdowns from Lamar Jackson in the redzone. The rookie seems primed for a big immediate role.

NFL Training Camp Notes

Jahan Dotson off to a fast start in camp

Jahan Dotson has been turning heads in Washington camp thus far and could be in line for a big season, according to ESPN.com’s John Keim.

Fantasy Impact

Dotson has been connecting with quarterback Sam Howell throughout camp. On Tuesday, Dotson showed off his route-running skills and had little trouble gaining separation. Dotson sets up as a quality WR3 target in fantasy drafts heading into the 2023 season.

James Cook seeing heavy work in passing game

James Cook is seeing heavy work in the passing game through the first week of the Bills’ training camp, catching five of Josh Allen‘s 12 completions during Tuesday’s team drills.

Fantasy Impact

The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia wrote that Cook was Buffalo’s best offensive player on the first team during Tuesday’s practice session. Buscaglia is predicting that Cook is in line to see at least half of the Bills’ offensive snaps if he continues to play well in camp. The news out of Buffalo for Cook has been all positive early on. He could finish as an RB1 in fantasy if he is in fact heavily involved in the high-powered Buffalo offense this season.

Hunter Henry standing out in training camp

Hunter Henry has reportedly been Mac Jones‘ favorite target in the red zone so far in training camp. Henry appears to be playing faster after dropping some weight and coming into camp lighter.

Fantasy Impact

Henry stated that he feels like his moving good and that being lighter has allowed him to make more plays in training camp. The veteran tight end struggled last season, tallying 509 yards and two touchdowns on 59 receptions. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Henry at training camp, as it appears he could be poised for a large role in Bill O’Brien’s new offense.

Patriots managing Rhamondre Stevenson‘s workload

Rhamondre Stevenson has spent three of the first seven practices working out on a separate field as the team looks to limit his workload to start training camp.

Fantasy Impact

Stevenson himself is unsure of exactly why he is being held out of practices, and his absence has given Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris additional opportunities. The team has also brought in marquee veteran running backs for visits but have not replaced James Robinson after his release prior to training camp.

Ryne Eberle

Ty Chandler lacking consistency early in camp

Ty Chandler has reportedly lacked consistency early in training camp with the Vikings.

Fantasy Impact

With Alexander Mattison leaving practice early on Tuesday, Chandler saw more reps and he fumbled once. Seventh-round rookie DeWayne McBride is also competing for a role, but it is expected to be tougher for him to catch up to the whole offense. It is still possible the Vikings sign one of the veteran free agent running backs available, but for now Mattison still appears to be the clear lead back for Minnesota heading into Week 1.

A.J. Brown providing highlights in Eagles camp

A.J. Brown has been lighting up the field early in Eagles camp as his rapport with Jalen Hurts from last season carries over into this year.

Fantasy Impact

In his first year with the Eagles last season, Brown caught 88 passes for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns. His dominance continued into the playoffs all the way to the Super Bowl where the Eagles fell to the Chiefs. Brown should remain a WR1 for fantasy managers this season.

Najee Harris expected to be utilized heavily in the run game

Najee Harris is expected to be heavily utilized in the run game after the Steelers’ offensive line additions this off-season. Though their passing game should improve on last year’s disappointing efforts, Pittsburgh is poised to “lean heavily on the ground game.”

Fantasy Impact

Harris is a bruising back who has made up for a lack of efficiency with a sheer volume of touches. He’s a back-end RB1 in fantasy based on his projected volume alone, but if he can increase his efficiency behind a revamped offensive line, he could easily reach the top tier of fantasy running backs.

Jameson Williams expected to see ‘a ton’ of reps in preseason

According to Eric Woodyard of ESPN, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said they will “douse [WR Jameson Williams] with a ton of game reps” in the 2023 preseason.

Fantasy Impact

Williams missed the 2022 preseason and the first 11 games of his NFL career due to an ACL tear in college at Alabama that sidelined him. In 2023, he will miss his first six games due to a violation of the league’s gambling policy. Because of his lack of in-game experience, his reps in the preseason will be important for getting Williams back into game speed. Williams played just 78 snaps in 2022, receiving nine targets – of which he hauled in just one for a 41-yard touchdown.

Odell Beckham Jr. solidifying himself as one of top wide receivers in camp

Odell Beckham Jr. has solidified himself alongside rookie Zay Flowers as the top two wide receivers in Baltimore this season.

Fantasy Impact

Flowers has reportedly been super impressive early in camp, while Beckham has held his own as well. He missed all of last season after tearing his ACL in the Super Bowl a couple of years ago with the Rams. Rashod Bateman remains on the PUP list for Baltimore.
