Black Friday Fantasy Football Deals: Discount Trade Targets (2023)

Black Friday Fantasy Football Deals: Discount Trade Targets (2023)

It’s Week 12 of the 2023 NFL season. That means it’s Thanksgiving week. Hopefully, you can spend Thursday with your family, stuffing your face full of food, watching football, and not arguing about politics. On Friday, everyone loses their minds over Black Friday shopping.

While your aunt is determined to get a bargain on kitchenware, and your uncle wants a 25% discount on new golf clubs, you already did all your Black Friday shopping online at midnight. Therefore, you can afford to spend Black Friday watching the amazing matchup between the Miami Dolphins led by Tua Tagovailoa, and the New York Jets led by Tim Boyle. On second thought, maybe you want to get stuck in traffic and head to the mall for Black Friday shopping instead.

With most fantasy football trade deadlines only days away, here are seven players you should consider trading for at a Black Friday-type discount.

Black Friday Fantasy Football Deals: Players to Trade for at a Discount

Jordan Love (QB – GB)

Love has had an up-and-down first year as the starter. He averaged 2.3 passing touchdowns and 22.5 fantasy points per game over the first three weeks. Then, the former Utah State star had over 15.3 fantasy points once over the next five contests. However, Love has played well lately. He is the QB10 over the past two weeks, averaging 305.5 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 18.8 fantasy points per game.

Meanwhile, his rest of the season schedule is appealing. He faces the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. Then Love takes on the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the young quarterback takes on the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, and Minnesota Vikings to close out the fantasy season. He might be on the waiver wire or the No. 2 quarterback on someone else’s team. Love is an excellent replacement option if you lost Joe Burrow or Kirk Cousins over the past few weeks.

D’Onta Foreman (RB – CHI)

The Bears offense hasn’t been consistent this year. However, Foreman has been the best running back on the team. After sitting out four consecutive games, the former Longhorn took over as the starter when Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson got hurt. The veteran was the RB9 as the starter from Week 6 through Week 10, averaging 16.2 rushing attempts for 70.2 yards, 0.8 scrimmage touchdowns, and 13.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.

Unfortunately, Foreman suffered an ankle injury last week against the Detroit Lions. Yet, he scored a rushing touchdown on his 18 snaps. More importantly, the veteran outperformed Herbert in his return to the lineup. The Bears have an excellent Week 16 matchup against an awful Arizona Cardinals run defense. Even if your league’s trade deadline has passed, Foreman might end up on the wavier wire over the next few weeks. Keep an eye out for the former Longhorn.

Jerick McKinnon (RB – KC)

McKinnon is rostered in under a third of ESPN leagues, making him potentially a league-winning addition off the waiver wire. Every year, the Chiefs limit his workload early in the season before turning him loose in the second half. McKinnon has played under 42% of the snaps in every game this year. By comparison, he played at least 47% of the snaps in all but two games over the final eight games of the fantasy football season in 2022.

Furthermore, he played most running back snaps during the playoffs last year. More importantly, the veteran faces the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals over the final four weeks of the fantasy season. Three of those teams rank in the top half of the league in receptions allowed to running backs. With Kansas City’s passing attack struggling lately, expect McKinnon to see his workload increase.

Adam Thielen (WR – CAR)

Many wrote off Thielen entering the year. However, the veteran is the WR11, averaging 13.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game in 2023. Yet, he has a potential buy-low window after struggling lately. Thielen had 11.4 fantasy points last week despite a tough matchup. Unfortunately, the veteran had only 12.6 fantasy points over the previous two games and averaged 7.9 fantasy points per game over the first three matchups since the bye week.

Hopefully, your league mate wants to sell after the solid performance against the Dallas Cowboys in fear that Thielen is over the hill and will struggle the rest of the year. Yet, that won’t be the case. The veteran has a fantasy-friendly rest of the season schedule. Furthermore, he has played better when Frank Reich has called the plays, something the head coach did on Sunday. More importantly, Thielen remains the focal point of the passing attack, seeing double-digit targets in six of the past eight games.

Demario Douglas (WR – NE)

While the Patriots’ offense has been a disaster, Douglas has been outstanding the past few weeks. Since returning from a concussion, the rookie has been the WR32, averaging 7.3 targets and 8.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game heading into the team’s bye week. More importantly, the former Liberty star has been New England’s best weapon in the passing game since losing Kendrick Bourne to a torn ACL. Over the past two games, Douglas led the team in receptions (11), targets (16), and receiving yards (139).

Meanwhile, the Patriots’ 2023 season is all but officially over. If the season ended today, they would have the third-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Therefore, New England will be playing for the future. Douglas should be their featured target in the passing game, regardless of who plays quarterback. More importantly, the rookie has an excellent rest-of-season schedule. He faces the New York Giants this week, the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14, and the Denver Broncos in Week 16.

Odell Beckham Jr. (WR – BAL)

Unfortunately, the Ravens will be without Mark Andrews for at least the rest of the regular season. Therefore, Lamar Jackson must find a new go-to weapon in the passing game. Zay Flowers has been inconsistent as a rookie. Meanwhile, Isaiah Likely won’t replicate what the superstar tight end does in the offense. However, Beckham has been a superstar in the past and a go-to wide receiver. More importantly, he has played well lately.

The veteran is the WR11 over the past three weeks, averaging 3.3 receptions on 5.3 targets for 70.7 receiving yards and 12.1 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, scoring double digits every week. Furthermore, Beckham has seen seven targets in three of the past five games, including last week when Andrews got hurt. Yet, he can be even better. The veteran has played fewer snaps than Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor in every game over the past three weeks. Hopefully, Beckham can turn into Jackson’s new go-to receiver.

Trey McBride (TE – ARI)

Hopefully, fantasy players grabbed McBride off the waiver wire a few weeks ago and don’t have to trade for him. The former Colorado State star has been outstanding. He has been the TE3, averaging 6.5 receptions on 8.8 targets for 72.3 receiving yards and 12 half-point PPR fantasy points per game over the past four weeks despite playing with multiple quarterbacks. More importantly, McBride has been outstanding in the two games with Kyler Murray under center.

Over the past two weeks, the second-year player is the TE3, averaging 12 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he led the team in targets (16), target per route run rate (25%), and yards per route run (2.76) in those two contests. More importantly, McBride’s fantasy playoff schedule is appealing. He takes on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15. However, the former Colorado States star faces the Chicago Bears in Week 16 and Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17. They have been two of the more fantasy-friendly teams to tight ends this season.
