Takeaways
- Andres Munoz has yet to allow an earned run through 17 innings. According to a quick Google search, he is only seven innings away from tying the longest scoreless inning streak to start a season. He joins Robert Suarez, Lucas Erceg, Jason Adam, Reed Garrett, Hunter Gaddis, Luke Weaver, Tommy Kahnle, Nick Mears, Erik Miller and Justin Sterner with sub-1.00 ERAs. Sterner has gone 18.1 scoreless innings himself for the Athletics in middle relief.
- Evan Phillips returned from the injured list (IL) and picked up three saves plus holds. He didn’t allow any runs and picked up six strikeouts in his 5.2 innings pitched. However, he returned to the IL on Wednesday after experiencing forearm discomfort, leaving the opportunities for Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia and Kirby Yates.
- Robert Suarez, Andres Munoz, Cade Smith, Jason Adam, Mason Miller, Reed Garrett, Hunter Gaddis and Alex Vesia have a greater than 9.0 K/9. These pitchers have a little more upside than most because of their potential to rack up strikeouts.
- Kyle Finnegan is second in the league in saves and saves plus holds. He’s pitched 60+ innings each of the last four seasons and has 28+ saves in the past two. The Nationals aren’t thought to have many winning opportunities, but Finnegan has turned lemons into lemonade over the last couple of seasons.

Biggest Risers
Andres Munoz (RP – SEA) | +2
Andres Munoz has been the best reliever in baseball. The only knock on him is his walk rate (12.5%), but he’s able to overcome it with an elite 36% strikeout rate. Munoz leads with his slider, which has an insane 56.5% whiff rate and an unfathomable .033 batting average. With all the uncertainty around the league’s top relievers, he’s inarguably a top-three reliever the rest of the way.
Camilo Doval (RP – SF) | Unranked
Camilo Doval has found his way back into the mix at the backend of the Giants’ bullpen. He’s having success, but he’s doing it differently than we’ve seen in the past. Doval has traded in his elite strikeout rate for better quality-of-contact metrics and run suppression.
Doval’s strikeout rate ranks in the 25th percentile, whereas when he was at his best in 2023, it was in the 92nd percentile. Still, he’s managed a 1.53 ERA and 0.68 WHIP with 10 saves plus holds and two wins.
Felix Bautista (RP – BAL) | Unranked
Felix Bautista makes his way back into the top 40 after picking up two saves in two scoreless innings in the past week. He’s compiled a 1.80 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in 10 innings with six saves plus holds. While his strikeouts aren’t quite back to where they were just yet, he’s done an excellent job keeping the runs off the board.
Biggest Fallers
Justin Martinez (RP – ARI) | -26
Justin Martinez was placed on the IL with a shoulder issue. This is a big blow to a Diamondbacks bullpen already without A.J. Puk for the foreseeable future. Martinez was having a marvelous season in terms of hard contact. His hard hit rate and average exit velocity would rank in the 99th percentile of pitchers if he qualified. Hopefully, he’ll be back pitching before too long.
Matt Strahm (RP – PHI) | -17
Matt Strahm has been solid, but the opportunities haven’t been there for him. He only has two saves plus holds in his past 10 innings over the last month. The Phillies like to use him in ways that aren’t always best for fantasy, and it’s showing during this stretch.
Despite the lack of saves plus holds, Strahm has put together a 3.07 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 18 strikeouts in 14.2 innings with five saves plus holds and a win.
