Smash Spots
Logan Webb (SP – SF) vs. PIT
Logan Webb is poised for a strong outing with heavy volume against one of the worst lineups in baseball. The Pirates currently rank 28th in wRC+ against right-handed pitching.
Logan Gilbert (SP – SEA) vs. TEX
Logan Gilbert has found his groove lately, racking up 19 strikeouts in 11.2 innings in his last two outings. This includes only two unearned runs allowed. Expect Gilbert to keep it going in an exploitable spot at home versus the Rangers.
Sonny Gray (SP – STL) vs. MIA
Sonny Gray has fallen on hard times of late, giving up 14 earned runs in his last two starts. But don’t be surprised if he gets back on track against the Marlins at home.
Risky Starts
Jack Flaherty (SP – DET) @ PHI
Jack Flaherty has been inefficient all year long, so it’s hard to trust him against a Phillies lineup that is loaded with disciplined hitters like Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.
Ryan Pepiot (SP – TB) @ NYY
Even with Aaron Judge injured, Ryan Pepiot is still in for a daunting task in taking on the Bronx Bombers at Yankee Stadium. The Rays righty comes into Saturday with eight earned runs allowed in his last two outings.
Nick Lodolo (SP – CIN) vs. LAD
Nick Lodolo dominated the Nationals in his last start, but it’s a lot harder to trust him against a loaded Dodgers lineup. Los Angeles currently ranks third in wRC+ against lefties.
Two-Start Pitchers
Jacob deGrom (SP – TEX) @ LAA, @ SEA
Jacob deGrom has been as good as advertised for the Rangers this season, set for a two-start week in two exploitable matchups against strikeout-prone lineups, the Angels and Mariners.
Cristopher Sanchez (SP – PHI) @ CWS, vs. DET
Look for Cristopher Sanchez to keep the good times rolling in a two-step against the White Sox and Tigers. The Phillies lefty has given up one earned run in six straight outings.
Drew Rasmussen (SP – TB) @ NYY, vs. LAD
Drew Rasmussen is talented enough to overcome tough matchups, but you have to be slightly concerned in having to take on the Yankees and Dodgers this week.
