Trade Advice
How high is too high for Puka Nacua? Drake London + Emeka Egbuka? My other wide receivers: George Pickens, Xavier Worthy, Tetairoa McMillan and Matthew Golden. They are struggling for depth: Marvin Harrison, Cooper Kupp, Jakobi Meyers and Jerry Jeudy.
In a vacuum, this is too high a price to pay for Puka Nacua. You are giving up two WR1s in Drake London and Emeka Egbuka. Granted, Nacua is the WR1, but that’s a steep price. I would try to include either London or Egbuka and then one of your other wide receivers, if possible.
My personal preference would be Egbuka and George Pickens because they are bound to experience some touchdown regression at some point. CeeDee Lamb and Mike Evans will also return soon, which could impact their volume to some extent.
Thoughts on trying to trade Zay Flowers for Tetairoa McMillan in a dynasty league?
That is a reasonable deal depending on your goals. Zay Flowers obviously has the better quarterback, and Baltimore’s nonexistent defense should give him a pretty safe weekly floor.
However, Tetairoa McMillan is a stud. Even if I don’t fully trust Bryce Young to support a WR1, he has already proven he’ll be the focal point of Carolina’s game for the foreseeable future.
Would you trade Tyler Warren and Cam Skattebo for Bucky Irving? I have Darren Waller, Michael Carter/Quinshon Judkins/Chase Brown to hold it down while he gets healthy.
I would reverse that and trade Darren Waller instead of Tyler Warren. As good as Waller has been, there are durability concerns. Obviously, anything can happen from an injury standpoint, but Warren should be in much better shape to withstand the rigors of an NFL season than Waller.
I’m also not 100% sure I would rather have Chase Brown than Cam Skattebo at this juncture. I’m probably in the minority on that, but Cincinnati’s run game is a mess. Brown has fewer rushing yards this season than Patrick Mahomes. But either way, at least try to sub Waller for Warren in that deal.
Is Jake Ferguson + a handcuff to receive Derrick Henry a fair redraft trade? The Henry owner is starting atrocious waiver wire adds and is last in the league, and tight end waiver options actually look decent.
Fair for whom? Certainly not for the other manager. Listen, shoot your shot, right? If you can get Derrick Henry for a tight end and a backup running back, do it. I can’t imagine a scenario where I am that pressed for a tight end upgrade that I trade Henry. But, hey, stranger things have happened.
2-QB PPR dynasty trade. Which side wins? Justin Herbert and Kaleb Johnson (owner has Ladd McConkey and Jaylen Warren) or Chuba Hubbard & Jordan Mason?
This depends on each team’s options at the quarterback position. If the team trading Justin Herbert has two serviceable options, then this is a no-brainer for me. I wouldn’t get too hung up on the dynasty factor concerning those running backs.
If I had Kaleb Johnson in a dynasty league, I would be worried about his long-term outlook considering his current role. That is not the kind of situation that changes magically overnight, considering how Pittsburgh generally operates. But again, I wouldn’t be doing this deal if your other two quarterbacks are both outside of the top 20 or so.
I’m 1-4. Would you trade Rashee Rice for Davante Adams?
Yeah, I think so. It sucks because if you have Rashee Rice, you have waited this long to get something out of him. And you should see the payoff beginning in Week 7. But Davante Adams is not exactly a slouch. It would not shock me if Adams outscores Rice once he returns.
As much as I like Rice as a player, I think his role might be a bit overblown based on last year’s small sample size. The Chiefs hadn’t really integrated Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown into the fold yet. I still think Rice is their most productive wideout as we advance. But I don’t think the gap between him and the rest of Kansas City’s wide receivers is as wide as it was on a per-game basis last year.
Waiver Wire & Lineup Advice
Finally dropped David Njoku yesterday… Mason Taylor did alright. Do I roll with Taylor or pick Njoku back up? His schedule is pretty sweet over the next two weeks.
Ah, a fantasy manager after my own heart. I, too, dropped David Njoku last week in my salary cap league. I picked up Jake Ferguson, so no complaints. But it was hilarious (sarcasm) watching Njoku finally look like his old self right after I dropped him. I understand your frustration. At least you also picked up someone who had a solid week.
As far as Njoku versus Mason Taylor goes, I prefer Njoku going forward. He led the team in all receiving categories last week, and his target share was higher than Taylor’s, even though the Jets trailed for basically the entire game. A lot of Taylor’s work is coming in garbage time.
To be fair, the Jets will likely be playing in garbage time a lot. However, that will be very frustrating to have to rely on each week. The Jets still want to run the ball for as long as they can remain competitive in a game. There could be games where Taylor only gets a few targets. That is the case for most tight ends, but I trust Njoku a bit more.
Would you rather add Michael Carter or Rhamondre Stevenson?
I prefer Rhamondre Stevenson simply because Michael Carter will be relegated to a backup role once Trey Benson returns. Stevenson is ahead of TreVeyon Henderson on the depth chart despite his fumbling issues. Until that changes, he should be serviceable in a pinch.
Stevenson also has solid matchups the next two weeks against New Orleans and Tennessee. Ironically, the Cardinals are off in Week 8, when Stevenson faces the Browns, so there is no advantage there.
Which defense would you target from New England, Washington, Chicago and Pittsburgh for Week 6 and beyond?
Pittsburgh. I know Dillon Gabriel looked halfway decent last week, but he’s still a rookie and will be making his first real road start of his career. Pittsburgh is most likely the best long-term as well. New England is probably second on that list in both instances.
