Jeff McNeil underwent thoracic outlet surgery

by Bruno Mulé | Mets Correspondent | Thu, Nov 13th 10:49am EST

Jeff McNeil’s agent, Garrett Parcell, revealed that the infielder underwent thoracic outlet surgery shortly after the regular season, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. Parcell noted that McNeil has regained good range of motion and is expected to be a full participant in spring training. The issue had caused discomfort with his swing late in the season, when he produced a .514 OPS in September after posting an OPS of at least .742 in every other month. (Joel Sherman)

Fantasy Impact:

Thoracic outlet surgery tends to have a greater impact on pitchers than position players, so McNeil’s recovery outlook is encouraging. The 33-year-old is expected to open the 2026 season as the Mets’ starting second baseman but also offers defensive versatility across multiple positions.
