Gregory Soto secures second consecutive save Thursday
by David Leisering | Pirates Correspondent | Fri, May 8th 8:06am EDT
Gregory Soto pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning, with a strikeout, for his third save of the season as the Pirates defeated the Diamondbacks, 4-2, on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact:
With Dennis Santana struggling and used in the seventh inning on Thursday, Soto was called upon for the second straight day to preserve a lead. And, for the second straight day, he handled the job with ease, retiring the Diamondbacks in order in the ninth. Soto has not been scored upon in his last six outings - and in 17 of his 19 appearances this season. The lefthander has held opponents to an .097 average with a 25:7 K:BB ratio in 19 innings. Overall, he has a 1.42 ERA and a 0.68 WHIP with three saves and six holds and, at the moment, appears to be the closer in Pittsburgh. Grab him if you can.
