Team-By-Team Dynasty Roundup: AFC South (2021 Fantasy Football)

The AFC South is a division in flux. Indianapolis and Jacksonville have new quarterbacks. Houston is dealing with their own unique QB issues. Tennessee lost two-thirds of its receiving group from 2020. Each team entered the 2021 NFL Draft with a unique set of needs. Now that the draft is complete, how have their selections impacted the fantasy football dynasty value of each team’s skill players? Is the dynasty community bullish or bearish exiting the draft? HOUSTON TEXANS DRAFT RESULTS

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB1: Deshaun Watson. Stock: Down. Deshaun’s legal issues and lack of explosive offensive weapons are worrisome. His talent is not the issue.

QB2: Davis Mills. Stock: Up. Mills makes this list only due to the uncertainty surrounding Watson. He is not NFL-ready, but if Houston can get a fair return for Deshaun Watson, Mills could find himself under center before year’s end.

RB1: David Johnson. Stock: Down. Houston showed little confidence in Johnson when they brought in two veteran RBs to compete with him for carries this offseason. His stock is crashing.

RB2: Mark Ingram. Stock: Neutral. The days of Mark Ingram leading a backfield in carries are gone. At best, he remains a TD-dependent FLEX play in 2021.

WR1: Brandin Cooks. Stock: Neutral. Will Fuller’s departure turned Cooks into the defacto WR1 in Houston. If Watson avoids suspension and does not get traded, Brandin Cooks stock will rise a tick.

WR2: Keke Coutee. Stock: Neutral. A couple of veteran wide receivers, Andre Roberts and Randall Cobb, will limit Coutee’s upside. He had fine performances down the stretch in 2020, so wait and see.

WR3: Nico Collins. Stock: Up. Wise dynasty players are scooping up Collins as a value late in their rookie drafts. If Watson stays in Houston, Nico Collins has the size and speed to be a fantasy resource down the line.

TE1: Brevin Jordan. Stock: Neutral. Jordan is a playmaker with good size but is very raw. He will need to improve in many areas before he is a viable fantasy asset.

TE2: Jordan Akins. Stock: Neutral. Akins posted a lackluster 2020. Just like every other pass catcher in Houston, his value will pend on Deshaun Watson’s future.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: Houston deals Deshaun Watson before the season, leaving Davis Mills to start at QB in more games than current backup Tyrod Taylor.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS DRAFT RESULTS

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB1: Carson Wentz. Stock: Down. 2021 will make it or break it for Wentz – the dynasty community believes it will be the latter.

RB1: Jonathan Taylor. Stock: NeutralTaylor is locked inside the top five dynasty running backs as he works behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

RB2: Nyheim Hines. Stock: Down. In 2020, Hines finished outside of the top-30 running backs in half-PPR, scoring 10 times. This inconsistency accompanied by Jonathan Taylor’s touch dominance has his stock low.

WR1: Michael Pittman Jr. Stock: Neutral. Pittman was not a total bust in 2020 but did not break out as some expected. He possesses the ingredients for a high-level NFL WR. Can Carson Wentz mix them properly?

WR2: Parris Campbell. Stock: Neutral. Injuries are a concern with Campbell, but his speed fits perfectly into Frank Reich’s crossing route system. Hopefully, the payoff for holders is coming in 2021.

WR3: Ty Hilton. Stock: Neutral. If not for three weeks in 2020, Weeks 12-14, where Hilton collected 17 catches for 277 yards and three TDs, his stock would be headed further down.

TE1: Jack Doyle. Stock: Neutral. The Colts front office moved 2021 money around to assure Doyle would not be a casualty of the salary cap. Carson Wentz would be wise to utilize Doyle as an experienced safety valve.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: Parris Campbell stays healthy for all 17 games and constructs a 75 reception, nine touchdown season.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS DRAFT RESULTS

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB1: Trevor Lawrence. Stock: Up. Lawrence to Jacksonville has been a done deal since January. Still, seeing him taken number one helped convince the dynasty holdouts that his stock is high.

RB1: James Robinson. Stock: Down. After an incredible 2020, Robinson now has to contend with a first-round draft pick for touches. His stock is in a freefall.

RB2: Travis Etienne. Stock: Up. Urban Meyer used the 25th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft to get his new QB1 a familiar weapon. Etienne’s relationship with Trevor Lawrence and on-field versatility will lend to plenty of opportunities to produce in Jacksonville.

WR1: D.J. Chark. Stock: Neutral. “Best shape of his life” reports are already pouring in from the Chark camp. The Jaguars upgrade at QB should help cement him as a WR2.

WR2: Laviska Shenault Jr. Stock: Up. Shenault will slide immediately into Urban Meyer’s game plan as a helpful weapon through the air and ground. The steam on this stock is only just begun.

WR3: Marvin Jones Jr. Stock: Neutral. Jones is a boom or bust in fantasy every week. That profile will not change in Jacksonville.

TE1: Tyler Eifert. Stock: Neutral. The Jaguars tight end cupboard is bare. So much so, they have been linked to Tim Tebow. Tyler Eifert has been a fantasy unicorn since scoring 13 touchdowns in 2015.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: Trevor Lawrence leads the Jacksonville Jaguars in rushing touchdowns with seven.

TENNESSEE TITANS DRAFT RESULTS

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB1: Ryan Tannehill. Stock: Neutral. Tennessee lost their WR2 and WR3 in the offseason, leaving Tannehill’s target tree bare. His stock hasn’t moved yet, but it is one to keep tabs on this summer.

RB1: Derrick Henry. Stock: Neutral. Henry is among the safest selections in fantasy football every season. 2021 is no different.

RB2: Darrynton Evans. Stock: Neutral. Evans isn’t listed as RB2 on the Titans depth chart, but he would be the most significant gainer should an injury happen to Derrick Henry. Dynasty players are holding.

WR1: A.J. Brown. Stock: Up. Brown may lead the NFL in targets in 2021. His upside is the number one wide receiver in fantasy football in all formats. He could be the most coveted dynasty wide receiver.

WR2: Josh Reynolds. Stock: Neutral. Reynolds appears to be the early favorite to land the vacated targets of Corey Davis in the Titans offense. Tennessee did not invest early in the 2021 NFL Draft at wideout so that he could turn into a natural source of value.

WR3: Dez Fitzpatrick. Stock: Up. Rookie wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick’s fantasy value scored a big win on draft day. The Titans wide receiving corps is getting a facelift, and his raw abilities could be on display sooner rather than later because of the team’s glaring need.

TE1: Anthony Firsker. Stock: Up. Firsker will appear on many TE sleeper lists in 2021. He drew a high volume of targets from Ryan Tannehill when he was on the field in 2020. This stock will creep up all summer.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: Derrick Henry blows away his career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. His receiving numbers finish at 30/290/5.
