| Emilio Pagan | CIN | 26 |
| Andres Munoz | SEA | 25 |
| Alex Vesia | LAD | 25 |
| Aroldis Chapman | BOS | 25 |
Takeaways
- The Padres made a lot of noise at the trade deadline, but Robert Suarez remains top dog in the bullpen. He’s picked up two saves and a win since acquiring Mason Miller, without allowing a run. Mason Miller is probably the closer of the future for the Padres, unless they decide to try him in the rotation, but they can’t remove the league leader in saves from the role right now.
- Emilio Pagan and Tony Santillan have been two of the biggest reliever surprises this year. Pagan’s put up a 2.98 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 10.6 K/9. Santillan has a similar line with a 2.56 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 8.7 K/9. They’ve combined for 27 saves and three wins across 101 innings.
- The number of high-quality relievers the Dodgers have on the injured list (IL) is ridiculous. However, Alex Vesia has remained a constant this year. His 2.33 ERA ranks sixth among the group above, while his 0.86 WHIP ranks third. His 12.2 K/9 is the second highest of his career.

Biggest Risers
Randy Rodriguez (RP – SF) | Unranked
Randy Rodriguez stepped into the closer role after Camilo Doval was traded to the Yankees. He has been unbelievable this season, but has been behind Doval and Ryan Walker in the pecking order. On the season, he has a 1.54 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 12.3 K/9. In save-only leagues, his value took a major boost.
Kyle Finnegan (RP – DET) | +10
Kyle Finnegan was traded to the Tigers and is all of a sudden a great pitcher again. In two games with his new team, he’s allowed zero runs or walks, one hit, struck out three and recorded two saves in 2.1 innings. Will Vest took a blown save on the day Finnegan was acquired, and it looks like bad timing on his part.
Biggest Fallers
Devin Williams (RP – NYY) | -10
Oh, what to do with Devin Williams. He struggled to start the year and was usurped by Luke Weaver. Then Weaver dealt with injuries, and Williams resumed the role. The Yankees added two high-level relievers at the trade deadline in David Bednar and Camilo Doval to further muddy the waters.
In Williams’ last 3.2 innings across four outings, two before the trade deadline and two since, he’s allowed six runs. In those 3.2 innings, he’s walked four batters while striking out only two and giving up two homers. The Yankees are fighting for a Wild Card spot and have too many options to keep him in the closer’s role.
Jeremiah Estrada (RP – SD) | -7
It’s not you, Jeremiah Estrada, it’s me. With the Padres acquiring Mason Miller at the deadline and not moving Robert Suarez, it’s a very crowded bullpen. The Padres and Yankees are the only bullpens with four relievers in the top 40, and that’s for good reason. It’s pretty hard for a team to win enough games and have enough bullpen innings for that many pitchers to be relevant.
In three appearances since the trade deadline, Estrada allowed one run while striking out seven in three innings. He will still see his chances, but there’s just a little more doubt about how often he’s used.
