Week 3 Fantasy Football Discord AMA & Mailbag (2025)

Everyone loves an Ask Me Anything (AMA), especially the fantasy football community. You can put me at the top of the list of those who love fantasy football AMA. Answering questions for a specific individual fantasy player is so much fun. Not only am I helping that fantasy player improve their team, but it also challenges me to think outside the general box of who is higher in my rankings or who to start this year.

FantasyPros does an excellent job with their Discord AMAs, giving members a chance to have their questions answered by professionals. Please join the Discord channel and reach out to me anytime with any fantasy football questions.

Fantasy Football Discord AMA & Mailbag

So, without further ado, let’s dive into some of the questions and answers from my Week 3 Discord AMA.

Waiver Wire Questions

Who is your top running back waiver wire target this week?

Bhayshul Tuten is rostered in 40% of ESPN leagues and is the clear-cut top running back waiver wire target this week. After having three touches and 1.1 PPR fantasy points in Week 1, the rookie had 10 and 15.4 on Sunday after the Jacksonville Jaguars traded away Tank Bigsby. While he won’t replace Travis Etienne Jr. as the starter anytime soon, Tuten is the perfect stash candidate with flex appeal in the right matchup.

Is Troy Franklin the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver waiver wire claim?

Assuming guys like Keenan Allen, Quentin Johnston, and Cedric Tillman aren’t available on the waiver wire, Franklin is my favorite wide receiver target this week. The second-year pro is rostered in only 2% of ESPN leagues. He led the Denver Broncos’ wide receivers in snaps last week. More importantly, Franklin has 15 targets over the first two games, including nine in Week 2. The former Oregon star scored 24 PPR fantasy points against the Indianapolis Colts and was Bo Nix’s favorite target.

How do you feel about dropping Ollie Gordon and T.J. Hockenson?

The only way I’m holding onto Gordon at this point is if I also have De’Von Achane on my roster. The rookie has five touches for 16 scrimmage yards and 3.6 PPR fantasy points over the first two weeks. He is purely a handcuff despite all the last-minute preseason hype. Meanwhile, Hockenson has seven targets and 6.7 fantasy points this season. Fantasy players can drop him for another tight end like Juwan Johnson or Harold Fannin Jr.

Should I add Hunter Renfrow off the waiver wire in a deeper league?

I was a week early on Renfrow, calling him an injury replacement option in Week 1. Instead, the veteran was outstanding last week, totaling seven receptions on nine targets for 48 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and 23.8 PPR fantasy points against the Arizona Cardinals. While fantasy players should bet on him scoring once a week, let alone twice, Renfrow is a solid flex option in deeper leagues until Jalen Coker returns from a quad injury. The veteran is second on the team in targets (15) behind Tetairoa McMillan (19).

Who are your top Week 3 streaming quarterback options?

You can read more about this in my weekly quarterback streaming article. However, Daniel Jones (21.2% rostered) against the Tennessee Titans, Aaron Rodgers (20.5%) against the New England Patriots, and Sam Darnold (7.3%) against the New Orleans Saints are my three favorite options rostered in under 25% of ESPN leagues. All three have had some success over the first two weeks and have appealing matchups this weekend.

How much FAAB should I spend on Jake Browning in a superflex league?

While superflex leagues are a lot of fun to play in, you tend to have massive bidding wars for quarterbacks on the waiver wire when a starter gets hurt. Unfortunately, Joe Burrow is likely done for the season, meaning Browning will start the rest of the way. I would spend up to 75% of your remaining budget on the backup, especially if you lost Burrow or don’t have a solid QB2.

Trade Questions

Would you sell high on Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle?

I have no faith in the Miami Dolphins offense outside of De’Von Achane, so yes, I would sell high on Hill and Waddle. The New England Patriots were without their top cornerback, Christian Gonzalez , on Sunday. More importantly, Hill had seven targets while Waddle earned six on Tua Tagovailoa‘s 32 pass attempts. Meanwhile, Achane had 10 targets. If I can trade either for Tetairoa McMillan, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Is it time to trade away all of our Cincinnati Bengals?

Unfortunately, the loss of Joe Burrow hurts everyone’s value. Yet, I’m not panic selling Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, or Chase Brown. You would be selling low on all three as everyone worries about them following Burrow’s injury. However, Chase was a superstar on Sunday. Meanwhile, Higgins had a solid performance despite Jake Browning playing most of the game. Brown will get going eventually, so only trade away your Bengals if you can get fair value.

Should I sell high on Jacory Croskey-Merritt with Austin Ekeler out for the season?

This is a bit of a cop out answer, but it depends. Croskey-Merritt will see more rushing attempts with Ekeler out for the year. However, he likely won’t see an increase in targets, as the Washington Commanders signed Chase Edmonds to their practice squad and worked out other pass-catching running backs on Monday. So, if I can turn Croskey-Merritt into David Montgomery or Tony Pollard, that’s a move I would make. Otherwise, hold onto him and see what happens from here.

Panic Meter Questions

How panicked are you about Brian Thomas Jr. and his wrist injury?

I’m about a four on a scale of 1-10, worried about Thomas. The second-year star is dealing with a wrist injury, according to head coach Liam Coen. Yet, he wasn’t on the injury report last week, making me think the injury isn’t significant or a complete lie. Thomas has 19 targets over the first two games, earning a 24.7% target share and 27% target per route run rate. While the Jacksonville Jaguars’ passing attack has been ugly, I’m still starting Thomas this week.

Should I trade away Justin Jefferson if I’m worried about his quarterback situation?

Jefferson has been quarterback-proof his entire career with Kevin O’Connell on the sidelines. Yes, the superstar hasn’t been elite over the first two weeks, totaling 14.8 or fewer PPR fantasy points in both games. Furthermore, he has seven or fewer targets in both outings. Yet, the Minnesota Vikings faced two solid defenses and have a de facto rookie quarterback under center. Keep starting Jefferson, and don’t be surprised if he has a massive fantasy performance against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Am I screwed if TreVeyon Henderson is my RB2?

Hopefully, fantasy players drafted Travis Etienne Jr. as their RB3 after selecting Henderson as their RB2, as the rookie has been a bust over the first two weeks. He had 11.1 PPR fantasy points in Week 1, thanks to six receptions. Unfortunately, he had two receptions on Sunday, earning six fewer touches than in Week 1. Fantasy players should bench Henderson if possible, but hold onto hope that he will be a breakout player in the second half of the season.
