Fantasy Football Player Notes

2020 Rest of Season Rankings
Robert Woods Note

There is a pretty big disconnect between what the average fantasy football player thinks about Woods and what the expert consensus thinks about him, with the latter being significantly higher. Woods scored just three touchdowns last year but there is bound to be positive regression, and he's seen at least 130 targets in each of the last two years. With Brandin Cooks gone, and with how Woods came on toward the second half of the season, he's much closer to a WR1 than fantasy managers are giving him credit for.

Cam Akers Note
Cam Akers photo 64. Cam Akers RB - (vs . ARI)
Akers unfortunately simply did not look as good as Malcolm Brown in the first game against the Cowboys, and lost work to the veteran as the game went on. If there's one back to roster for the Rams, it's still Akers at this point, but it's much more of a long-term play at the moment. Brown has a chance to run with the role, but if he doesn't, Akers should eventually take control. But don't start him for the foreseeable future.

Malcolm Brown Note

Brown not only got the start in Week 1 against the Cowboys, but looked great doing so, scoring two touchdowns and factoring in everywhere. Whether it continues throughout the season is anyone's guess, but for now, Brown should be added in all leagues and shoot up your rest-of-season rankings. He'll need to rattle off another big game or two to cement his role, but his potential is surprisingly high.

Darrell Henderson Note

Henderson was an afterthought after Week 1, but then proceeded to have a monstrous Week 2 against the Eagles. It's the same story as it was with Malcolm Brown after Week 1: Henderson has a chance to be an incredibly valuable fantasy running back, or he could return to part of a committee in the near future. He should be rostered, but he needs to perform well in the next game or two to solidify his role.

Tyler Higbee Note

Higbee had one of the most unexpected and dominant short-term breakouts in recent memory last season. Over the final five games, he averaged 8.6 receptions and 104 yard per contest after being essentially a fantasy afterthought for his entire career prior. There are questions about heading into the season, including whether the Rams will continue running more of the 12 personnel they ran late in the year and the impact of a healthy Gerald Everett. But, there just aren't many tight ends who are even capable of doing what Higbee did at the end of last year, meaning he needs to be viewed as a mid-tier TE1, albeit with a bit of a skeptical eye.
