Fantasy Football Player Notes

2021 Rest of Season Rankings

CeeDee Lamb Note

Lamb has seen a combined eight targets over Dallas' past two games, which isn't what fantasy managers had in mind after Michael Gallup's injury seemingly opened the door for more opportunities. The reason for his decreased number of looks isn't due to anything other than the Cowboys reverting to a run-heavy offense as of late. The second-year receiver is one of the most talented offensive skill players in football. The looks will come. Buy low on Lamb.

Ezekiel Elliott Note
Ezekiel Elliott photo 21. Ezekiel Elliott RB - (at PHI)
It was reported over the weekend that the Cowboys are considering giving Elliott "time off to heal" his nagging knee injury. Dallas plays on Thursday night in Week 13 and it sounds as if the team might want to rest him for that. IR isn't currently being considered, but Zeke's fantasy managers should be nervous at the thought of Tony Pollard operating as a bell-cow RB with him sidelined even for just one game. Regardless of how many games Zeke misses, we should expect Pollard to play more down the stretch.

Tony Pollard Note
Tony Pollard photo 54. Tony Pollard RB - (at PHI)
Ezekiel Elliott once again looked slow during Thursday's Week 13 game against the Saints. Per PFF, he ranks near the bottom of the league in advanced metrics like elusive rating and breakaway rate. Pollard, meanwhile, has been far more explosive this season. The Cowboys aren't going to turn away from giving Zeke meaningful touches for as long as he's healthy enough to play in games, but betting on Pollard is as much of a bet against Elliott's health if anything.

Amari Cooper Note
Amari Cooper photo 59. Amari Cooper WR - (at PHI)
Cooper took a backseat to CeeDee Lamb's heroics in this one, and he hauled in just 5-of-8 targets for 55 scoreless yards. The 27-year-old hasn't finished as a top-24 fantasy wideout since Week 1, but now isn't the time to sell. Dallas has a bye in Week 7, and there should be better game environments moving forward.

Michael Gallup Note
Michael Gallup photo 75. Michael Gallup WR - (at PHI)
Both Amari Cooper (reserve/COVID-19) and CeeDee Lamb (concussion) are either out or questionable for Thursday's Week 12 game against the Raiders. Gallup is suddenly the top receiving option in a Dak Prescott-led offense. Week 11 was rough, but we're chasing volume here.

Dalton Schultz Note
Dalton Schultz photo 100. Dalton Schultz TE - (at PHI)
The return of Michael Gallup could wind up having a major impact on Schultz, who took a backseat in the receiving game in Week 10. Schultz saw just 6.1% of the targets after being at 19.8% from Weeks 2-9 sans Gallup. Game script was weird in this one as Dallas didn't need to do much in the second half, but this isn't what Schultz managers were hoping for. He's still tied to an elite offense, which keeps him in the low-end TE1 conversation, but expectations should be tempered with all of the Cowboys pass catchers healthy at the moment.
