Giants RB Devonta Freeman (ankle) worked with trainers off to the side during Tuesday’s practice session. (Source: Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Freeman had to leave last week’s game against Philadelphia early after injuring his ankle. Wayne Gallman was the primary beneficiary of Freeman’s absence, getting 10 carries and seeing five targets. If Freeman can’t go Monday night vs. the Buccaneers, Gallman is the likely starting RB and he should see heavy usage. The Buccaneers have one of the best run defenses in the league however, making Gallman nothing more than a flex play even if he’s named the starter.

RB Christian McCaffrey has been designated to return from injured reserve on Tuesday. He took off his non-contact red jersey in practice, and put on a regular one. (Source: Carolina Panthers on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: A change of events as McCaffrey was listed as a non-participant in practice and was seen wearing non-contact red jersey. He took off the red jersey and put a regular one on, signaling that CMC will practice in some fashion Tuesday. McCaffrey has yet to be ruled out for Thursday Night Football against the Falcons. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation, but McCaffrey is trending in the right direction towards playing Week 8. Stay tuned.

The Ravens have signed free agent WR Dez Bryant to the practice squad. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Bryant is officially back in the NFL. He hasn’t played in an game since 2017. The 31-year-old WR was with the Saints briefly in 2018, but suffered a torn Achilles during practice. He sat out 2019 rehabbing his injury. Bryant will join the Ravens practice squad and could be a potential late-season addition to Baltimore’s gameday roster.

Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds is expected to be the team's primary ball carrier while Kenyan Drake (ankle) is sidelined. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Arizona has a Week 8 bye, but Drake is still expected to miss a few weeks with his ankle injury. This positions Edmonds as a borderline RB1 in fantasy. The 24-year-old erupted for 145 total yards (including seven receptions) in Arizona's Sunday night victory over Seattle. Eno Benjamin will likely see some run as well, but Edmonds is the back to own for fantasy purposes.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick says QB Cam Newton isn't dealing with COVID-19 aftereffects. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: “I don't think so. We'd list him on the injury report if he was. I don't think he's had any symptoms the whole way," Belichick said. It's a fair question to wonder about, as Newton's play has declined sharply since his positive test. That could be the result of a variety of other factors, however. Newton is a fantasy QB2 in Week 8 against the Bills.

Sam Sloman hit 1-of-2 field goals from 22-yards out while having the other attempt blocked and connected on all three of his extra point attempts during the Rams' 24-10 win over the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact: Sloman was perfect outside of a blocked kick late in the game but he doesn't see enough volume to be considered an elite option. He will be a solid streamer, however, against the Dolphins in Week 8.

The Rams D/ST came away with four sacks and two interceptions during their 24-10 win over the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact: Although they are less potent than years past, the Rams D/ST did a nice job making things difficult for Nick Foles and the Bears offense. The only touchdown the Bears were able to put up came on defense as their offense was limited to just a field goal on the evening. The Rams D/ST will be an juicy streaming option against the Dolphins and rookie Tua Tagovailoa, who is making his first career start.

Johnny Mundt caught all three of his targets for 47 yards during the Rams' 24-10 win over the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact: Tyler Higbee's absence thrust Mundt into a larger role on Monday and his 47 marked a career high. A huge chunk of his yardage total came on an impressive 34-yard catch and run in the second quarter. Despite the impressive showing, Mundt will not be a recommended fantasy option going forward, even if Higbee misses more time.

Bucs' WR Chris Godwin underwent surgery after fracturing his left index finger and has been ruled out for the teams Week 8 game against the Giants. (Source: Dov Kleiman on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It's unclear when Godwin suffered the injury but it's just another disappointment in what's been a rather frustrating season. This is now the third unique injury that will force Godwin off the field and it's not yet known if he will be able to return for the Bucs' Week 9 matchup against the Saints. Coming off a six-catch, 109-yard performance, Scotty Miller should be busier than usual in Godwin's absence this week. If Godwin's absence is extended, the recently-signed Antonio Brown, who is eligible to return after Week 8, could jump into a significant role immediately.

Darnell Mooney caught three of seven targets for 40 yards in the Bears’ 24-10 loss to the Rams on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Mooney tied for team lead in targets in this one, and he could've had a bigger game had Nick Foles not missed him on at least one big play. The rookie has flashed upside this season, but the quarterback play is unfortunately holding him back.

Van Jefferson caught one pass for 14 yards during the Rams' 24-10 win over the Bears.

Fantasy Impact: Jefferson made an impressive 14-yard reception while falling out of bounds in the first half but was otherwise unheard from. He is clearly behind Josh Reynolds in the pecking order and isn't a trustworthy fantasy option going forward.

Cam Akers was only on the field for 3 snaps and didn't see a carry or a target in the passing game during the Rams' 24-10 win over the Bears.

Fantasy Impact: It's now been two weeks since head coach Sean McVay told reporters that Akers' workload will begin to ramp up and he has seen the field 4 total times since those remarks. It appears either the Rams' are comfortable with Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown running the show or Akers isn't fully healthy but either reason doesn't bode well for his fantasy value. He is droppable until further notice.

Jimmy Graham brought in five of six targets for 31 yards in the Bears’ 24-10 loss to the Rams on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Graham continues to be a favorite target of Nick Foles, though the future Hall of Famer isn't putting up the receiving numbers to be fantasy-relevant unless he finds the end zone. Regardless, he's safe to keep rolling with as a TE1/2.

Chicago Bears D/ST totaled one sack and scored a fumble-return TD in the Bears’ 24-10 loss to the Rams on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: This one was turning into a true stinker until Eddie Jackson housed a fumble mid-way through the fourth quarter. That defensive tuddie made this a respectable line for Chicago D/ST, but next week's matchup with New Orleans will be a tall order indeed.

Gerald Everett caught 4-of-5 targets for 28 yards and a score during the Rams' 24-10 victory over the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact: With Tyler Higbee (hand) sitting this one out, Everett was the clear TE1 for the Rams. His ceiling was limited due to the low pass volume the Rams' needed in order to win, though he was able to hook up with Jared Goff for a 12-yard score late in the third quarter. If Higbee is forced to miss any more time, Everett will be a solid streaming option in Week 8 against the Dolphins.

Josh Reynolds caught 4-of-8 targets for 52 yards and a score during the Rams' 24-10 win over the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact: Due to the extra attention afforded to both Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, Jared Goff looked Reynolds' way early and often. The duo connected three times for 31 yards and a score in the first two quarters, though the Rams' built a big lead and sat on it for much of the second half. Reynolds is clearly ahead of Van Jefferson, who only caught one pass on Monday, but long ago are the days when this passing offense was able to support three fantasy relevant receivers. Reynolds is not a recommended fantasy option in Week 8.

Malcolm Brown rushed 10 times for 57 yards and a score during the Rams' 24-10 win over the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact: Brown operated behind Darrell Henderson in this one but was the beneficiary of a goal line carry that he turned into a one-yard score in the third quarter. Henderson is the back to own on this offense, though heavy volume should keep Brown in the FLEX/RB4 conversation ahead of the teams Week 8 matchup against the Dolphins.

Cairo Santos made his only field goal attempt and his only extra point attempt in the Bears’ 24-10 loss to the Rams on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Santos accounted for Chicago’s only offensive points of the night, as he knocked through a 42-yarder in the second quarter. Chicago’s only other points of the game came on an Eddie Jackson scoop-and-score in the fourth quarter, and Santos drilled the PAT following that touchdown.

Robert Woods caught 3-of-5 targets for 22 yards and rushed four times for 23 yards during the Rams' 24-10 win over the Bears. He also lost a fumble late in the fourth quarter that was scooped up for a touchdown.

Fantasy Impact: This was easily Woods' worst performance of the season and it's possible he wasn't entirely healthy after nursing a groin injury throughout the week. Outside of 13 yard catch on the Rams' opening drive and a 25-yard run in the third quarter, Woods' name was barely mentioned and his five targets were behind both Cooper Kupp (6) and Josh Reynolds (8). To make matters even worse, Woods' also lost a fumble late in the fourth quarter that was returned for a Bears' touchdown. He should have better days than this but the low volume was going to catch up to him sooner rather than later. Consider him a low-end WR2 against the Dolphins in Week 8.

Cole Kmet corralled both of his targets for 45 yards in the Bears’ 24-10 loss to the Rams on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Kmet finished second in receiving yards Monday, but he only drew two targets compared to six for Jimmy Graham. Kmet’s highlight came on an early 38-yard catch on the sideline where he elevated over the smaller defender to bring down the catch. He’s got plenty of potential, but with Graham in the picture, Kmet should be off the radar in most redraft formats.
