DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Thursday (6/8)

We have a fun little four-game slate to navigate tonight with three reliable pitchers in good matchups and tons of lefty pitchers which provide us loads of value at the plate. There are no weather issues so let’s take a look at the lineup.

Pitcher

David Price (BOS): $9,400 @ NYY
Jake Odorizzi (TB): $7,900 vs CWS

This marks the first time all season that I’m not starting Lance McCullers when I have the chance. No, it has nothing to do with his matchup. Rather, he should still be great, but his price is a full $2,000 more than Price and $3,500 over Odorizzi. Both should be superb tonight for their price points. Odorizzi is a (-147) favorite with just 3.85 implied opponent runs allowed. He has been cruising since he came back from injury. That price is way too low for this type of matchup. Price, meanwhile, will end up $11k any week now so roster him at this value while you can!

Catcher

Brian McCann (HOU): $3,200 @ KC

The Astros are expected to score 5.32 runs by Vegas tonight. That’s a huge total against Jason Hammel who has been getting torched all year. McCann will be in the middle of the run parade with loads of RBI opportunities tonight and at a crazy low price.

First Baseman

Tommy Joseph (PHI): $3,200 @ ATL

This is one of the fastest players in Phillies history to ever reach 30 home runs. He is batting 4th against R.A. Dickey tonight in a 4.81 implied total lineup. I’d spend $3,800 on a hitter like that, so this price point makes it obvious to me.

Second Baseman

Brian Dozier (MIN): $3,900 @ SEA

In a talent-starved position tonight, Dozier stands out as a terrific option at less than 4k. He will be batting leadoff against the subpar Christian Bergman and has a shot to put a ball or two in the bleachers.

Third Baseman

Evan Longoria (TB): $3,600 vs CWS

Any time Longoria bats third against a crummy lefty, he is always on my radar. Add in the incredible price and he is my must play of the night. Tampa is expected to score 4.65 tonight against Derek Holland.

Shortstop

Trea Turner (WAS): $5,400 vs BAL

The Nationals lineup is expected by Vegas to crush Alec Asher tonight to the tune of 4.98 runs. As you know, Turner bats leadoff and could both steal a few bases and score multiple runs. This is the weakest position of the night so if you are ever going to pay up for Turner, this is the night to do it.

Outfielders

Bryce Harper (WAS): $5,400 vs BAL

The difference between McCullers and David Price‘s salaries gives us the opportunity to move up from a punt play at outfield all the way to Bryce Harper who is the top overall play of the night. If you are looking for a double dong game, Harper has the best odds of anyone on the slate.

Mookie Betts (BOS): $4,100 @ NYY

This is the lowest I’ve ever seen his price despite the ballpark upgrade tonight and going against a home run prone pitcher. Mookie hasn’t quite been himself this year, but the price is just too good to pass up for this type of talent in a decent matchup.

Matt Adams (ATL): $3,900 vs PHI

Since the trade, Adams has been one of the best hitters in all of baseball and that is not hyperbole. I don’t expect it to keep up by any means, but his price still needs to rise $500 before I consider him accuratley priced. Tonight, the Braves are implied for 4.69 runs against Lively and again, Adams will be right in the middle of that party.

  1. Anthony Rizzo (1B – CHC): $4,900 vs COL
