Tier 1
Todd Gurley (LAR @ TEN)
Expert Consensus: RB #2
Forty-eight DKP later, and Gurley’s stock is rising as he heads into yet another tough matchup in Week 16 against the Titans. With the volume likely to continue being there, I look for Gurley to be another strong producer this week.
Kareem Hunt (KC vs. MIA)
Expert Consensus: RB #4
Well, that didn’t take long. After consecutive outings of 25.8 DKP and 42.6 DKP over the last two weeks, Hunt appears to be back on the rise. He draws another plus matchup at home this week against the Dolphins, so don’t be afraid to go back to the well again as the Chiefs push toward the playoffs. Miami has allowed an average of 107 rushing yards and one score per game over their last four, so the upside is certainly there.
Tier 2
Mark Ingram (NO vs. ATL)
Expert Consensus: RB #7
The Saints continue to thrive with their two-headed rushing attack, and I don’t expect them to change things up much going forward. This is a critical divisional showdown in which the Saints are currently favored by five and a half points. The matchup doesn’t jump off of the paper in favor of Ingram, but I’m not sure that it matters with the way he and Alvin Kamara are playing.
LeSean McCoy (BUF @ NE)
Expert Consensus: RB #8
The Patriots have only allowed one rushing touchdown over their past four games, but they are allowing an average of 128 rushing yards per contest during that span. The Bills are double-digit underdogs on the road this week, but McCoy is typically insulated from these risks due to his abilities in the passing game.
Tier 3
Melvin Gordon (LAC @ NYJ)
Expert Consensus: RB #6
The Jets have been exposed by opposing rushing attacks over the last four weeks, as they’ve allowed 1.3 touchdowns and 118 yards per game during that timeframe. Gordon continues to see solid volume in both the rushing and passing games, which gives him a nice floor. He’s scored a touchdown in consecutive weeks, and he will look to make it three in a row in a favorable road matchup.
Kenyan Drake (MIA @ KC)
Expert Consensus: RB #11
The Chiefs have allowed five rushing touchdowns over the last three weeks. With Drake continuing to display his playmaking abilities on a weekly basis, he figures to add to that total this week. Drake has scored at least 23.3 DKP in three straight. With the volume he’s likely to continue seeing, he should eclipse 20 DKP yet again in Week 16.
Tier 4
Cam Newton (CAR vs. TB)
Expert Consensus: QB #1
The stars are aligned for a big game from Newton at home this week against a poor defense. The Buccaneers have been all over the place lately against the pass, but things have gotten markedly worse on the road for them all season. With the Buccaneers unable to generate any sort of pass rush and battered with injuries, Newton should have all day to throw.
Tom Brady (NE vs. BUF)
Expert Consensus: QB #3
Everyone seems to be focused on the New England running game this week, but don’t sleep on the likely MVP frontrunner either. While this isn’t a great matchup on paper, Brady is as close to matchup-proof as it gets. After struggling in Week 14 against the Dolphins, Brady bounced back with a solid outing against the Steelers last week, which is more of what we should expect as the season winds down.
Tier 5
Matthew Stafford (DET @ CIN)
Expert Consensus: QB #6
The Bengals are a hot mess right now and with the Lions right in the thick of the playoff race, I look for Stafford to produce on the road this week. The Bengals have allowed an average of 266 passing yards and 1.3 touchdowns per game over their last four, so the matchup certainly isn’t anything to avoid.
Philip Rivers (LAC @ NYJ)
Expert Consensus: QB #8
Rivers and the Chargers’ offense flopped last week against the Chiefs, but they are poised to bounce back this week. The Jets have allowed an average of 254 passing yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game over their last four, so don’t be afraid to target Rivers on the road in a meaningful game with playoff implications.
Tier 6
Dion Lewis (NE vs. BUF)
Expert Consensus: RB #13
With Rex Burkhead banged up and out of the picture, for now, Lewis could see an increased role moving forward. It’s always tough to decipher this backfield, but with one prime option out of the way, it does clear things up a bit. There’s always a risk Mike Gillislee gets reintroduced to the picture, but he has been a healthy scratch since Week 8, so I wonder how much he will be involved this week. The Bills rank dead last in fantasy points allowed per game to opposing running backs, and Lewis provides solid profit potential in a great matchup as a result.
Christian McCaffrey (CAR vs. TB)
Expert Consensus: RB #15
The Buccaneers have been plagued by injuries as their disappointing season comes to a close, so I look for the Panthers to put up a big number as they try to keep pace with the Saints for the division title. McCaffrey’s involvement in the passing game gives him a nice boost in point per reception formats, so look for him to take advantage of a great matchup this week.
Tier 7
Devonta Freeman (ATL @ NO)
Expert Consensus: RB #9
The Falcons backfield will be back to full strength this week with the return of Tevin Coleman, but I think this should only benefit Freeman this week. It will be all hands on deck as the Falcons look to pull off the upset on the road in what is shaping up as a favorable matchup for Freeman.
Jordan Howard (CHI vs. CLE)
Expert Consensus: RB #14
The Browns are still seeking their first win in a long time. While I actually think they find that elusive win this week, I’m still not completely deterred from using Howard. Howard’s usage can be downright maddening at times, but he showed in Week 14 that he still has plenty of upside when utilized properly.
Tier 8
C.J. Anderson (DEN @ WAS)
Expert Consensus: RB #18
The Redskins have been gashed by opposing running backs over the last few weeks, which aligns perfectly with Anderson’s bump in touches over that same span. He’s seemingly back to being the lead dog out of the backfield for Denver, and he should be able to parlay his increase in volume into a big fantasy day in Week 16.
Joe Mixon (CIN vs. DET)
Expert Consensus: RB #27
All signs point to Mixon being cleared to play this week. Provided that holds true, I like him at home against the Lions in Week 16. While he hasn’t played since Week 13, this looks to be a good spot for him to get things rolling again. Short of last week against the Bears, the Lions have been very beatable on the ground and that figures to be the case yet again this week.
