NFL Dynasty Buy Low/Sell High

Which player are you buying now in dynasty leagues and why? Also, what are you willing to give up to get him?

Terry McLaurin (WR – WAS)

Terry McLaurin seems like a great buy for me. He’s currently ranked as WR23 in dynasty ECR, but I think he has a top-10 WR ceiling. Sure, he’s 29, but wide receivers don’t hit their age cliff as hard as running backs do. On top of that, he’s coming off of his best season yet (WR7 in PPR scoring) and hasn’t missed a game since 2020. Jayden Daniels will pepper him with targets again this season, making him worth adding at his current cost.”

Chase Brown (RB – CIN)

“The Bengals did their homework on the running back class, leading many to think they would draft one on Day 2 to replace Chase Brown. Instead, Cincinnati waited until the sixth round to add Tahj Brooks, meaning Brown’s role as the lead guy is safe for the 2025 season and potentially beyond. Furthermore, the Bengals used a third of their draft picks to improve their offensive line, including Dylan Fairchild, who should start at guard as a rookie. Last year, Brown was the RB6 from Week 4 through Week 17, averaging 16.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game as the starter. I would happily trade an early 2025 second-round pick or a late 2026 first for the former Illinois star.”

Trey Benson (RB – ARI)

“Typically, buying veteran RBs in dynasty formats nets a poor return, but targeting second-year RBs has been profitable. Arizona Cardinals RB, Trey Benson, was a non-factor during his rookie season because James Conner stayed healthy. But long-time veteran just turned 30, coming off a career-high in touches. With positive coach speak from Jonathan Gannon for Benson out of the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, in addition to no drafted RBs by the Cardinals, I project him to take the RB sophomore leap. Acquire him with Travis Etienne Jr., or a mid-to-late second-round rookie pick.”

Christian McCaffrey (RB – SF)

Christian McCaffrey is currently being drafted as the RB15 in dynasty startups. I think people are scared of the injury he is coming off of, but CMC has RB1 overall upside when he is on the field. In a recent press conference, the 49ers’ offensive coordinator said that McCaffrey “looks awesome” and that they plan to “get him the ball as much as they can.” I like to view players in dynasty leagues in three-year windows, and McCaffrey has arguably the highest upside of any running back in football. I would trade Jonathan Taylor straight up for CMC, as I recently did in one of my dynasty leagues.”

Ricky Pearsall (WR – SF)

“All day. Every day. Ricky Pearsall. I always preach to invest in talented second-year wide receivers who have flashed big-time upside in their rookie season. I know the flash was brief for Pearsall, but we still got it. In the final two weeks of the regular season, Pearsall finished as the WR7 and WR14 in weekly scoring while seeing a 21.7% target share and 30.4% first-read share and producing 2.84 yards per route run (per Fantasy Points Data). With Brandon Aiyuk‘s availability and effectiveness up in the air for 2025 and Deebo Samuel gone, Pearsall has a clear runway to break out in 2025. I’d give up a late 2025 first-round rookie pick or a 2026 first-round rookie pick for Pearsall. ”
Derek Brown (FantasyPros)

Isaiah Likely (TE – BAL)

“An investment in Isaiah Likely now could pay off handsomely in a year. Likely and fellow Ravens TE Mark Andrews are both in the final years of their contracts. There’s a good chance the Ravens part ways with Andrews, who’s entering his age-30 season, and re-sign Likely, who just turned 25. Even if Baltimore lets Likely walk, he’ll probably have a more prominent role as a full-time player in 2026. In Likely’s first three NFL seasons, he’s averaged 3.4 catches, 50.3 yards, and 0.7 touchdowns in the nine games Andrews has missed. That would work out to 58 catches, 855 yards, and 11 touchdowns over a full season. Not that we’re confidently projecting Likely for that sort of a season when he’s finally decoupled from Andrews, but Likely does offer TE1 upside. If you’re not going to be a realistic title contender, see if you can acquire Likely in exchange for a veteran like Cooper Kupp or Travis Kelce.”

FantasyPros Discord

Which player are you selling now in dynasty leagues and why? Also, what kind of return are you looking for?

De’Von Achane (RB – MIA)

“I’m not saying he can’t have a great year, but De’Von Achane seems a little too rich for me with a dynasty ECR of RB5. He finished as RB5 last year in PPR scoring, meaning this is pretty much his ceiling. Can he outperform RB5 value? Sure, but I’m fine selling him high and pivoting to other, hopefully ascending assets to make my team better for longer.”
Andrew Hall (FantasyPros)

Mike Evans (WR – TB)

Mike Evans has been one of the top wide receivers in fantasy football over the past decade. However, now is the time to move on from the veteran after he finished last season as the WR9, averaging 14.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game despite missing three contests with a hamstring injury. Evans was the WR13, averaging 12.3 fantasy points per game in his six healthy contests with Chris Godwin. By comparison, he was the WR2 from Week 12 through 17 without Godwin, averaging 17.9 fantasy points per game. The Buccaneers spent a first-round pick on Emeka Egbuka despite Jalen McMillan‘s impressive end to his rookie year. Now is the time to move Evans for an early 2025 second-round pick or a late 2026 first, especially with Godwin signing a long-term extension earlier this offseason.”
Mike Fanelli (FantasyPros)

George Pickens (WR – DAL)

“Former Steelers WR George Pickens recently landed in Dallas via trade, but he still has to prove his worth entering the last year of his rookie deal. I’m not overly optimistic about his long-term dynasty value compared to others, which is why he is a prime sell-high candidate. The Steelers have had an excellent track record of knowing when to bail on wide receivers, and I don’t want to be caught holding the bag with Pickens. Sell the idea of Pickens playing with the best QB of his career and acquire a late 1st/early second 2025 rookie pick or veterans such as Davante Adams or Khalil Shakir.”
Andrew Erickson (FantasyPros)

Brian Thomas Jr. (WR – JAC)

“A player that I would be looking to sell in dynasty leagues is Brian Thomas Jr. He is currently being drafted as the WR6 in dynasty startups after finishing 12th in FPPG last season. I believe Travis Hunter could overtake him as the WR1 within the next two seasons. Thomas Jr. is a very talented receiver, but I believe that Hunter has a higher ceiling, especially since he was barely in receiving meetings in college, and it is trending that he will primarily be playing receiver to start in the NFL. I would be looking to trade for a player like Drake London and a future 2nd-round pick.”
Nick Penticoff (Fantasy Football Astronauts)

James Cook (RB – BUF)

“I’m trading away James Cook everywhere that I have him. He was awesome last year. There’s no doubting that, but I do worry if he can thread the RB1 needle again in 2025 without even mentioning the worry that Buffalo doesn’t resign him. Last year, on the strength of 18 total touchdowns, he was the RB11 in fantasy points per game, but he was also the RB26 in expected fantasy points per game. If I can get the 1.07 or 1.08 for 2025, I’m doing it in a heartbeat with the idea of drafting R.J. Harvey and restocking with an uber-talented back with four years of certainty as a Bronco in an ascending offense. I’d also take a 2026 first-round pick with a small extra added (2026 3rd).”
Derek Brown (FantasyPros)

Josh Downs (WR – IND)

“It’s probably worth shopping Colts WR Josh Downs while his value is at or near its zenith. Fantasy gamers tend to overvalue small slot receivers — a phenomenon known as Jamison Crowder Syndrome. Downs is one of the better examples of this archetype … but still overvalued. He was WR30 last season in fantasy points per game. His average depth of target last season was just 6.9 yards. Downs has scored seven touchdowns in 31 career games. This profile comes with a limited ceiling to begin with. Then consider that the Colts are likely to have subpar quarterbacking this season, and that they spent their first-round draft pick on Penn State TE Tyler Warren, who could quickly become a focal point of the Indy passing game. The FantasyPros Dynasty Trade Value Chart says Downs’ value is commensurate with that of RBs Tony Pollard and Tyrone Tracy, and TE Dalton Kincaid. I’d rather have any of those players than Downs.”
