It’s the annual Scott Fish Bowl, and it’s one of the rare opportunities that allows the top brass of fantasy football experts and fans to compete for ultimate fantasy supremacy.

Scott Fish Bowl 15 Draft Strategy
Roster Setup
Most of the leagues are set up on Sleeper, but some play on MyFantasyLeague.com (MFL). Most have received their league invites, so make sure you’re all set, or your spot could be given away.
It’s a 22-round slow draft (eight-hour time limit), snake style with a third-round reversal.
In previous years, you had set positions you must fill, but this year, that is all thrown by the wayside. Now you will have nine Flex spots and two Superflex spots; most importantly, no kickers or team defenses.
Basic Rules
There are the standard rules and playoff setup for this year’s tournament.
- No trading allowed.
- Waivers: $100 blind bidding.
- You can get into the playoffs by either winning your division or having enough total points from the regular season.
- There are six playoff rounds, where you must score over a certain number of points to advance each week.
- No stat corrections in the playoffs.

Scott Fish Bowl 15 Draft Strategy
Now that you know how this tournament is set, let’s go dissect draft strategies to give yourself the best chance of winning this illustrious tournament.
Volume Is King
It says it right in the scoring system that you’re looking for players who will get the ball a lot. Only on MFL, your player doesn’t even have to catch the ball, as you get a point just for a target.
Here are the 2024 target leaders:
- Ja’Marr Chase – 175 targets
- Malik Nabers – 170 targets
- Drake London – 158 targets
- Justin Jefferson – 154 targets
- Garrett Wilson – 154 targets
- Brock Bowers – 153 targets
- CeeDee Lamb – 152 targets
- Trey McBride – 147 targets
- Jerry Jeudy – 145 targets
- Amon-Ra St. Brown – 141 targets
- Davante Adams – 141 targets
Look At The Tight Ends
The tight end premium applies to both platforms, so a reception for the position on MFL is worth three points and on Sleeper it is 3.5. This could be a position that drafters go after early, so it might be wise to lock down a tight end who has a heavy target share.
Here are the top 10 tight ends in receptions in 2024:
- Brock Bowers – 112 catches
- Trey McBride – 111 catches
- Travis Kelce – 97 catches
- Jonnu Smith – 88 catches
- George Kittle – 78 catches
- Zach Ertz – 66 catches
- Pat Freiermuth – 65 catches
- Sam LaPorta – 60 catches
- Mark Andrews – 55 catches
- Tucker Kraft – 50 catches
Do not be surprised if these tight ends are drafted in the early rounds. With there now being zero requirements to have certain positions filled, we could have teams taking multiple tight ends in the draft.
Feature Backs Are Important
Not many leagues give you points for running backs carrying the ball, but you can be rewarded if you have a running back who is leaned on.
Here are the top 10 leaders in carries in 2024
- Saquon Barkley – 345 carries
- Derrick Henry – 325 carries
- Kyren Williams – 316 carries
- Bijan Robinson – 304 carries
- Jonathan Taylor – 303 carries
- Josh Jacobs – 301 carries
- Najee Harris – 263 carries
- Tony Pollard – 260 carries
- Aaron Jones Sr. – 255 carries
- D’Andre Swift – 253 carries
All of these running backs remain with their teams from last season and should continue getting the same amount of volume.
There will be one newcomer who could also be valuable in this format. Ashton Jeanty is coming off a historic season at Boise State with 374 carries for 2,601 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. He is a much-needed upgrade for a Raiders team that finished last in rushing yards per game and should be the backbone of this offense.
The Benefits of Two-Way Players
We have a first in the Scott Fish Bowl: Individual Defensive Player (IDP) scoring. There is a set of IDP points for this year’s tournament, but the problem is that there are no slots for strictly defensive players.
This means you need an offensive designated player who always takes defensive snaps — Travis Hunter, who enters the league projected to play wide receiver and cornerback.
If you do not get Hunter, then you’re likely out of luck in this category. In 2024, Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard was the only player to record defensive snaps and a reception, but he only had one catch for two yards and a touchdown.
Charity
Do not forget that the most important aspect of the Scott Fish Bowl is raising money for charity. Please consider donating today if you can.
