Week 3 Buy Low

Who is your favorite buy-low trade candidate heading into Week 3 and why? Also, who are you willing to give up for him?

Terry McLaurin (WR – WAS)

“With Terry McLaurin off to a slow start and Jayden Daniels dinged up, it might be a good time to capitalize on a nervous opponent. McLaurin’s had slow opens before, and this specific start was to be expected after a limited summer. You could consider a challenge trade like Emeka Egbuka for McLaurin.”
Scott Pianowski (Yahoo! Sports)

Drake London (WR – ATL)

“This is the week to look for that owner who is frustrated because their team is off to a slow start. One reason could be Drake London. He is currently hovering around WR55 in many leagues, which isn’t what owners were expecting when drafting him in the 2nd round. He had 15 targets in week 1 and only four targets in week 2 against a stout Vikings defense. Michael Penix likes the young receiver, and London will bounce back, which makes this the perfect time to buy him at his season low cost. You can try to acquire him for receivers who are off to a HOT start, like Quentin Johnston, Wan’Dale Robinson, or Deebo Samuel.”
Adam Dove (The Fantasy Couriers)

A.J. Brown (WR – PHI)

“With a frustratingly slow start, A.J. Brown is an ideal buy-low candidate. Some fantasy managers might be panicking about the lack of elite productivity, but the Eagles’ offense is too powerful to keep him down for long. He’s still the top target in a high-powered offense, and it’s only a matter of time before he delivers WR1 production. This creates a perfect window to trade for him at a discount, especially with a desperate owner who is sitting at 0-2 and looking to turn their season around. In dynasty leagues, I would focus on recency bias surrounding either Quentin Johnston or Wan’Dale Robinson by packaging them with a future 2026 draft pick to acquire A.J. Brown, capitalising on those managers who are in an early-season state of panic.”

Brian Thomas Jr. (WR – JAC)

Brian Thomas Jr. is a fantastic buy-low after two straight meh weeks. The Jags offense is producing, yet BTJ has yet to hit its stride. The second-year receiver saw his targets increase in Week 2, and he gets a matchup at home in Week 3 against the Texans. Expect Derek Stingley Jr. to follow him around in a similar vein to what we saw Stingley Jr. do with Mike Evans in Week 2. The Jags offense is moving thus far, and it won’t be long before BTJ hits his stride. Any deal involving Deebo Samuel or J.K. Dobbins in a package for BTJ would be good enough to make the move to acquire the Jags star wideout.”

TreVeyon Henderson (RB – NE)

“I’ll break my rule against never rostering running backs who play for the Patriots and buy low on TreVeyon Henderson. He’s coming off a Week 2 performance that saw only a 32% snap share as Rhamondre Stevenson dominated the day. Starting now, however, New England has a schedule that should give them enough space for both RBs to outperform their rankings. They have home games against the Steelers and Panthers, neither of whom is stopping anything at this point, before a trip to Buffalo and a return home against the Saints. Week 3 is also when everyone who was SUPER hyped about rookies starts to freak out when they start slowly. In exchange, I would have no issue unloading D’Andre Swift for him.”

Omarion Hampton (RB – LAC)

“”These rookie running backs are terrible!” OK, friend. I’ll happily take Ashton Jeanty or Omarion Hampton off your hands. There seems to be an especially high degree of agita with Hampton. He’ll be fine; he’s an outstanding RB prospect. It’s been two games, the first of which was against the Chiefs, whose defense is ALWAYS tough against the run under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. If the Hampton investor in your league is freaking out, see if they’ll give him to you for a receiver such as Zay Flowers or Davante Adams.”

Week 3 Sell High

Who is your favorite sell-high candidate after Week 2 and why? Also, who would you try to get in return?

Travis Etienne Jr. (RB – JAC)

Travis Etienne is off to a smashing start, though a cushy schedule has helped. But Bhayshul Tuten has also looked pretty impressive. I’m thinking Tuten can keep pushing for work and maybe even steal the job at some point this year. Perhaps one of your opponents is frustrated by one of the sluggish rookie RBs and could overpay for Etienne’s juicy production thus far.”
Scott Pianowski (Yahoo! Sports)

Wan’Dale Robinson (WR – NYG) | Russell Wilson (QB – NYG)

“The New York Giants offense is looking like a team to own after putting up 37 points on the Dallas Cowboys! That makes all the playmakers, except Malik Nabers, players that owners should sell-high. Wan’Dale Robinson scored a touchdown on 142 yards! Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns! SELL NOW! They have a tough run of defenses coming up, and a return on immediate success will benefit teams. Sell Robinson for more proven WR2 players such as Tee Higgins, Davante Adams, or Deebo Samuel. Trade Wilson for a younger quarterback with job security like Bo Nix, Trevor Lawrence, or (in a dream world) Drake Maye. See what owners are willing to trade for two players who went world busters last week!”
Adam Dove (The Fantasy Couriers)

James Conner (RB – ARI)

James Conner is my sell-high candidate of the week. While his fantasy points look good at a glance, they’re inflated by a touchdown in each game and not supported by an efficient ground game, as per his 3.3 yards per carry average. He’s starting to show his age, and the emerging presence of rookie Trey Benson is eating into his “bellcow” status with the Cards. Now is the perfect window to trade Conner to a manager, still under the assumption that he’s a workhorse back. Given Conner’s misleading early-season production, I’d be looking to trade him away for a running back with a more secure role but who is currently underperforming, such as Tony Pollard. You would be acquiring a player who, despite a slow start, will provide a much safer floor and a higher ceiling moving forward.”
Luke Renton (The Franchise Tag UK)

“If you’re deep enough at running back and can afford to deal away James Conner, this might be a good time to move him. The 30-year-old Conner is ceding some work to second-year RB Trey Benson, who played only five fewer snaps than Conner in Week 2 and ran more routes. I’d happily trade Conner for Mike Evans, and I’d probably take Tetairoa McMillan for him.”
Pat Fitzmaurice (FantasyPros)

Jared Goff (QB – DET)

“After blowing out the Bears at home, Jared Goff reminded everyone that the Lions will be just fine. Or will they? The home/road splits associated with Goff are well documented, and three of his next four games are on the road. Perhaps most importantly, all of these contests are outdoors with Baltimore, Cincy, and Kansas City on the slate. With the number of QB injuries coming out of Week 2, Goff could be a very interesting trade candidate. If Goff managers can target the Burrow, Daniels, McCarthy, maybe Fields, managers and net a solid flex-worthy player such as Calvin Ridley or Chris Olave, that would be very solid business.”
Ed Birdsall (Talking Points Sports)

Deebo Samuel (WR – SF)

Deebo Samuel had a classic Deebo game against the Packers, featuring an 82% snap share, seven catches for 44 yards, and a touchdown. However, Terry McLaurin is ramping up after his preseason holdout, Jayden Daniels is banged up, and Austin Ekeler‘s season-ending injury may force Washington to realize that Bill (Jacory Croskey-Merritt) is, y’know, good. This offense could be messy for a bit, and if I could pry someone like Tetairoa McMillan, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, or Mike Evans for Deebo either by himself or in a small package (for Evans), I’ll do that, no problem.”
