San Antonio Spurs

Western Southwest

Guard Joe Wieskamp is returning to San Antonio on a 2-year, $4.4M deal. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: In 29 games last season for the Spurs, Wieskamp averaged just over two points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game in extremely limited minutes. After ping-ponging between the NBA and the G-League, the 2021 second-round pick will look to earn a role in the Spurs rotation in 2022-23. For fantasy players, he’s well off the board until that happens.

Free agent center Gorgui Dieng has returned to the Spurs on a one year deal after a short stint with them in 2020-21. In 44 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, he averaged 3.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game as a role player. (Source: Shams Charania via Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Dieng doesn’t project to be much other than a back up center for the Spurs, likely playing light minutes. He’s off the board for fantasy except for the deepest of leagues.

Danilo Gallinari is expected to be waived by the San Antonio Spurs after the trade with Atlanta is official according to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Gallinari will be waived and hit the free agent market. He will be free to sign with any team of his choosing in either conference and will likely look to catch on with a contender. Last season in Atlanta, Gallinari averaged 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 38.1% from beyond the arc.

Dejounte Murray has been traded to the Atlanta Hawks for Danilo Gallinari, three future first-round picks, and a pick swap. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: After a complacent offseason last year, the Hawks make a big time move to bring in the all-star guard. The blockbuster deal will pair Murray with Trae Young to form one of the league's most dynamic backcourts. Murray will likely take a backseat to Young, but with not a ton of scoring on the roster beyond him, he should still have ample opportunity to produce. I would expect there to be more roster turnover for Atlanta, so it will likely have to wait until free agency is over to fully assess Murray's new value.

According to Spurs reporter Tom Osborn, the Spurs have decided to guarantee Zach Collins' $7.35 million contract for the 2022-23 season. (Source: Tom Osborn)

Fantasy Impact: After appearing in 28 games with the Spurs last season, the veteran averaged 7.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. On Friday, the Spurs made the commitment to extend and guarantee the contract of Collins which will net him $7.35 million in 2022-2023.

Spurs G Romeo Langford is considered probable for Wednesday’s Play-In Tournament game against New Orleans as reported by KENS 5 - San Antonio’s Tom Petrini. (Source: Tom Petrini on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Romeo Langford missed extended time over the past couple months with hamstring issues and other ailments. Despite all that, Langford appears likely to be available for Wednesday’s Play-In Tournament game against New Orleans. If he goes, he will likely only play about 10 minutes or so but with only two games on the slate, Langford could be a cheap flyer that allows you some financial flexibility to stack studs.

Spurs F Doug McDermott has officially been ruled out for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against New Orleans as reported by KENS 5-San Antonio's Tom Petrini. (Source: Tom Petrini on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Doug McDermott has been dealing with a sprained right ankle since mid-March and he will miss his 15th straight game Wednesday. It is unclear how close he is to returning and how far into the playoffs his Spurs would have to make it for his return to be plausible. Lonnie Walker IV and Josh Richardson will continue to see increased run as long as McDermott is sidelined.

According to the NBA Injury Report, Lonnie Walker IV (back) has been ruled out Sunday vs. the Mavericks. (Source: NBA Injury Report)

Fantasy Impact: Walker came into Sunday listed as questionable but has been downgraded to out. He continues to deal with a back injury that will now mark his fourth straight game. The team is a bit thin at guard which should lead to more minutes for Tre Jones and Keita Bates-Diop.

Devin Vassell scored 18 points (6-14 FG, 4-8 3PT, 2-2 FT) to go along with two rebounds and two steals on Thursday against the Timberwolves.

Fantasy Impact: Vassell finished only behind Keldon Johnson for the team-high in scoring. He has scored at least 18 points in four of his last five games.

Tre Jones scored 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-5 FT) to go along with three rebounds, eight assists and one steal on Thursday against the Timberwolves.

Fantasy Impact: Jones continues to produce well in the starting lineup with Dejounte Murray (illness) sidelined. The Spurs have two games in the regular season against the Warriors and Mavericks left before heading to the play-in where they will be headed to New Orleans.

Jakob Poeltl scored 15 points (7-11 FG, 1-2 FT) to go along with 17 rebounds, three assists and three blocks on Thursday against the Timberwolves.

Fantasy Impact: Poeltl tied his season-high of 17 assists in the loss against Minnesota. The Spurs will head to New Orleans for the play-in after closing the regular season against the Warriors and Mavericks on Friday and Saturday.

Keldon Johnson scored 20 points (7-15 FG, 2-6 3PT, 4-7 FT) to go along with six rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block on Thursday against the Timberwolves.

Fantasy Impact: Johnson has been on fire as of late as a scorer, averaging over 22 points over his last eight games. He will look to carry this momentum into the play-in after the Spurs close the regular season on Saturday against the Warriors.

According to Bruno Passos, Jock Landale (foot) is out for Thursday vs. the Timberwolves. (Source: Bruno Passos)

Fantasy Impact: The Spurs, who are competing for a play-in spot, have a rather full injury report on Thursday as they take on the TWolves. Dejounte Murray and Jock Landale have been listed out, Lonnie Walker is listed as questionable, and Romeo Langford and Devin Vassell are listed as probable. With Murray out and potentially Walker, Langford could see his minutes go in the mid-10s while Zach Collins and Keita Bates-Diop could see an increase in minutes.

Keita Bates-Diop (back) is considered questionable to play in Friday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. (Source: NBA Injury Report)

Fantasy Impact: Bates-Diop is dealing with a back-issue that has given him trouble for a little while now, but he seems to be getting better and has a solid shot to play Friday. If he can't go, Lonnie Walker could be a key fantasy beneficiary of his absence.

Josh Richardson recorded 25 points (8-12 FG, 3-5 3PT, 6-6 FT), two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 27 minutes of action in Sunday's win over the Warriors.

Fantasy Impact: Richardson had the hot hand for the Spurs on Sunday. The Tennessee product has the talent but his inconsistency in minutes and scoring makes him hard to trust in fantasy. Last Monday, the veteran guard recorded only two points in 23 minutes. The 28-year-old will look to stay hot when the Spurs play the Trail Blazers in Portland on Wednesday.

Joshua Primo (illness) is available to play in Saturday night's game against the Indiana Pacers. (Source: Matthew Tynan on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Primo is dealing with an illness that has kept him sidelined for the last couple of game, but he is now off the injury report and is expected to be able to suit up on Saturday. Look for him to see a sizeable workload with the Spurs having multiple inactive starters against the Pacers.

Tomas Satoransky has agreed to a contract buyout with the San Antonio Spurs, and is expected to sign with Wizards for the remainder of the season. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Sato will now compete for minutes with Raul Neto and Ish Smith, but it is safe to say all three will play each night. Satoransky returns to Washington after playing there for three years. If one of these players separates themselves, they will have fantasy value, otherwise this looks to be a messy backcourt.

Per Shams Charania on Twitter, Goran Dragic has agreed to a buyout with Spurs (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: News dropped early Monday that Dragic would be "likely" be bought out by the Spurs after being shipped to them in a deal that sent Thad Young to the Raptors last Thursday. The 14th year veteran will now hit free agency and have a potentially robust market for his services. Teams like the Lakers, Celtics, and Hawks are presumed to have an interest in the veteran.

Per Shams Charania, the Spurs have traded Derrick White to the Celtics for Josh Richardson. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: White was seeing a career high 30.3 minutes per game this season as a starter with the Spurs. The 27-year-old will now be joining a Celtics backcourt that already features Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, and Dennis Schroder. Expect his minutes and usage rate to drop a sizeable amount compared to his time on the Spurs.

Thaddeus Young is headed to Toronto as part of the trade that sent Goran Dragic to the Spurs. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Young has only seen minutes in one of the Spurs last seven games, so a change of scenery was likely needed for the veteran. It is not clear what role he might play with the Raptors, but that will be worth monitoring. For now, Young is not a "must" pick up in season long leagues, but his role will be worth watching.
