San Antonio Spurs

Western Southwest

Spurs C Jakob Poeltl (rest) will miss his first game of the season Saturday night vs. the Suns. (Source: Tom Orsborn on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Poeltl has played in all 54 Spurs games so far this season, so he’ll get a much needed night off on the second night of a back-to-back. Look for Drew Eubanks to get the start in his place, and he makes for a great DFS target tonight.

Spurs G/F DeMar DeRozan (rest) won’t play Saturday vs. the Suns on the second night of a back-to-back. (Source: Paul Garcia on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: DeRozan has been playing in back-to-backs, but he’ll sit this one out Saturday night. This could be the case with a few Spurs down the stretch. Look for Dejounte Murray and Derrick White to see increased usage offensively Saturday night.

Derrick White scored 13 points (4-11 Fg, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 Ft) three rebounds, three blocks, and two assists across 32 minutes in the Spurs 107-106 loss to the Blazers on Friday night in San Antonio.

Fantasy Impact: White only attempted 11 shots after averaging 15 field-goal attempts over his prior two games. The fourth-year player out of Colorardo Springs is enjoying his best season in the NBA averaging 14.9 ppg. The Spurs will travel on Saturday to Phoenix to take on the Suns.

Dejounte Murray scored 13 points (5-13 Fg, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 Ft) 11 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal across 33 minutes in the Spurs 107-106 loss to the Blazers on Friday night in San Antonio.

Fantasy Impact: Forget the triple-double, Friday night was the first time in the last 16 contests that Murray went for a double-double. The last time it happened for him was back on March 15th against the Pistons. The Spurs will have to rest as they travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns on Saturday night.

San Antonio Spurs SF/PF Keldon Johnson scored 20 points (7-10 FG, 2-2 3PT, 4-5 FT) with 10 rebounds and a block across 31 minutes during Saturday's 139-133 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Fantasy Impact: The second-year forward out of the University of Kentucky secured a 20-point double-double during Saturday's overtime loss to the Pacers. Johnson shot a blistering 70 FG% while collecting 10 rebounds and forcing a block to produce significant production in fantasy lineups. Anyone looking to add a sure-handed shooter with great defense will be satisfied with Johnson on their roster, as he averages 13.2 points and 6.4 rebounds across 29 minutes in 44 games for the Spurs this season.

Fantasy Impact: It will likely come in the team's second game against Sacramento on Wednesday, March 31. "You play hard, you play well, you are going to play," Dieng said. "If not, you are not going to play. That’s the way I see things."

Former San Antonio Spurs PF/C LaMarcus Aldridge is now a free agent after the team bought out his contract and released him, per Shams Charania. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Aldridge has not played since the team mutually agreed to seek a contract buyout for the 35-year old center earlier in March. He averaged 13.7 points and 4.5 rebounds across 25.8 minutes in 21 games for the Spurs this season and could become a good value in season formatted leagues, as he is available on 49 percent of ESPN waiver wires. Continue to monitor Aldridge and the potential landing spots he will seek as an older free-agent in search of a new home.

Spurs' PG Patty Mills scored 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3PT), to go along with three assists in a Spurs victory over the Detroit Pistons on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Mills has been a solid contributor to a Spurs team that has been dealing with injuries and COVID-19 absences this season, averaging 12.2 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 rebounds over his last 10 games. However, despite his consistency, with Dejounte Murray seeing most of the minutes at PG for the Spurs, Mills should remain on waivers with perhaps the exception of deeper leagues.

Rudy Gay scored 19 points ( 5-9 Fg, 3-5 3Pt, 6-6 Ft) one rebound, one assist, one steal, and two blocks in 20 minutes of action in the Spurs 104-77 win over the Magic on Friday night in San Antonio.

Fantasy Impact: Gay has come out of the All-Star break pretty nicely averaging 16.0 in the last two games. Whether or not he can remain this relevant remains to be scene but with LaMarcus Aldridge no longer on the roster it could be possible. The Spurs will next take on the Sixers in Philly on Sunday.

Trey Lyles scored 15 points (7-9 Fg, 1-2 3Pt) 10 rebounds, one assist, and one steal across 26 minutes in the Spurs 107-102 loss to the Thunder at home on Thursday night.

Fantasy Impact: Lyles had a first half of the season to forget but did manage to finish strong as he averaged 16.5 ppg in the last two games. The Spurs are now off for the All-Star break and return to the court next Wednesday on the road against the Mavs.
