2024 NFL Free Agency Signings Tracker

Mike Williams Signs With Jets

Mike Williams was signed to a one-year deal worth $15 million by Gang Green, but he’s going to be 30 years old coming off a Week 3 torn ACL. It’s another band-aid fix that shouldn’t dramatically alter the Jets’ draft plans on a WR.

For what it’s worth, Big Mike was productive before he got hurt. Ranked as WR15 overall and WR17 in points per game. But it’s the same story every year with Williams. WR20 in points per game in 2022, but missed four games. At this point, it seems Williams will never fully put together a truly epic WR1 season that he has teased every year since 2018. He’s effective enough when healthy to post massive weeks that we know will not endure the length of the season.

Jerry Jeudy, Browns agree on three-year extension

The Cleveland Browns and newly acquired WR Jerry Jeudy have come to terms on a three-year contract extension to keep the former Alabama product through the 2027 season. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Jeudy will make up to $58 million on his three-year extension with $41 million fully guaranteed at signing. Considering the largely insignificant capital needed to make the trade, Jeudy inks a solid extension to keep him in Cleveland before even playing a snap. He will be paired alongside WRs Elijah Moore and Amari Cooper and TE David Njoku with QB Deshaun Watson, arguably giving him the best supporting cast he’s had in a while.

Rico Dowdle re-signs with Dallas

The Cowboys are expected to re-sign RB Rico Dowdle. (Source: SportsTrust Advisors on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Dowdle will rejoin a backfield that no longer includes starting RB Tony Pollard. Fantasy managers should wait and see if the Cowboys add depth at running back before looking at Dowdle’s fantasy value in 2024.

Alexander Mattison signing with Las Vegas

Alexander Mattison is signing with the Las Vegas Raiders after visiting with the team. (Source: Jordan Schultz on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It’s been quite the journey for Mattison, who started his career as the backup for Dalvin Cook then earned the starting job for the Vikings in 2023 before being released in 2024. His main competition for touches as of now is from Zamir White, who showed great ability at the end of 2023 while filling in for former Raider Josh Jacobs. Things could change during the draft, so fantasy managers should keep close tabs on this situation.

K.J. Osborn signs with New England

The Patriots have signed WR K.J. Osborn. (Source: Tom Pelissero on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Osborn will join the Patriots on a one-year contract as the Patriots look to rebuild their receiving corps. Osborn should see plenty of targets in 2024, but the Patriots still have a major question mark at quarterback.

Justin Fields Traded to Steelers

Justin Fields was traded to the Steelers for a 6th-round pick that can turn into a 4th-round pick depending on playing time.

The initial reports claim that Russell Wilson will start in Pittsburgh and Fields will back him up.

Seeing Fields dealt to the Steelers doesn’t come as too much of a surprise after the team sent off Kenny Pickett to Eagles. But the fact that Fields is already viewed as the backup and his trade value was only that of a 6th-round pick – none of which the Commanders, Patriots, Vikings, Giants, Titans, Broncos, or Raiders felt compelled to match/exceed – tells you all you need to know about Fields in the eyes of NFL teams.

For more on the Justin Fields trade: Justin Fields Traded to Steelers

Kenny Pickett traded to the Eagles

The Eagles have acquired QB Kenny Pickett form the Steelers in a pick swap. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Pickett figured to likely be headed towards a backup role with the Steelers in 2024 after the team signed QB Russell Wilson, but he will now head to Philadelphia to backup QB Jalen Hurts. The move confirms that Wilson will be the starter in Pittsburgh and that Pickett will have very little fantasy value next season, barring an injury to Hurts.

Michael Gallup released by Dallas

The Cowboys have released WR Michael Gallup. (Source: Michael Gehlken on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: The move is designated as a post-June 1 cut to save the team $9.5M in 2024 cap space. The Cowboys have been quiet in free agency as the team has limited cap space to work with, making this more necessary in order to fill needs at other positions.

Jimmy Garoppolo inks one-year deal with Rams

The Rams have signed QB Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year deal. (Source: Mike Garafolo on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Garoppolo with join the Rams and serve as the backup QB to Matthew Stafford. The veteran will also have to serve a two-game suspension for a violation of the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy and will join the active roster in Week 3.

Marquise Brown Signs One-Year Deal With Chiefs

Hooray for Hollywood. The Chiefs are signing WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The addition of Brown bolsters a Chiefs WR corps that was undermanned in 2023. Rashee Rice was a rookie revelation for Kansas City, but Rice is a short-area, catch-and run receiver whose average depth of target last season was 4.8 yards. The speedy Brown, who had an average depth of target of 11.9 yards last season, gives Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes a badly needed vertical threat.

For more on the Marquise Brown signing: Marquise Brown Signs One-Year Deal With Chiefs

Keenan Allen Traded to Chicago Bears

Keenan Allen will walk into the Windy City to compete with D.J. Moore for the team lead in targets this season. Moore was a volume hog last year without anyone but Cole Kmet to challenge him for targets weekly.

He’s sure to see his volume numbers drop some from last year when he was 12th in target share (25.9%) and fifth in air-yard share (42.2%), especially since Allen didn’t show any signs of slowing down last year.

For more on the Keenan Allen trade: Keenan Allen Traded to Chicago Bears

Curtis Samuel Signs Three-Year Deal With Bills

The arrival of Curtis Samuel in Buffalo gives the Bills another option underneath to combat zone coverage and create yards after the catch. Last season, Samuel led Washington in yards per route run, fantasy points per route run, and targets per route run against zone coverage (per Fantasy Points Data). His signing bumps Khalil Shakir to the boundary or the bench, as Samuel played 70.2% of his snaps from the slot last season. Samuel was the WR48 in fantasy points per game last season despite finishing as a WR3 or better in weekly fantasy, scoring in 38% of his games. Samuel will be a boom/bust option in the Bills attack as he could fluctuate from second to fourth in the target pecking order, depending on matchups.

A.J. Dillon Re-Signs with Packers

The Packers have brought back A.J. Dillon to back up Josh Jacobs. Sadly, Dillon could see a reduced role in 2024 if Jacobs can bounce back and stay healthy. Dillon has declined to a lowly change-of-pace grinder. Last year, he was only 48th in yards per touch, 51st in breakaway run rate, and 54th in juke rate. He had four games last year in which he played at least 60% of the snaps; only once did he surpass 80 total yards, and he finished outside the top 30 running backs twice in weekly scoring (RB33, RB69). Dillon is a low-end handcuff in 2024.

Sam Howell Traded to Seahawks

Sam Howell will now compete with Chef Geno for the starting job in Seattle. Howell surprised the fantasy football community last season by finishing as a QB1 in weekly fantasy, scoring in 53% of his games played. He tailed off badly near the end of the season, though, as he didn’t finish higher than QB26 in any of his final four starts (QB26, QB29, QB38, QB31). If we’re looking at last season’s efficiency marks in multiple areas, Howell looks to be behind the eight ball versus Smith in this competition.

Player Yards per attempt CPOE Highly accurate throw % Hero Throw %
Geno Smith 14th 17th 29th 6th
Sam Howell  30th 20th 17th 19th

*ranks among 39 qualifying QBs per Fantasy Points Data

We’ll see if Howell can dethrone Smith as Seattle’s starter in 2024, but I expect the Seahawks to give him every opportunity to win the job. Smith isn’t a UFA until 2026, but Seattle can effectively get out of his contract after 2024 if they choose to. This transaction gives dynasty fantasy managers in Superflex formats a chance to trade away Sam Howell while they can, but it’s probably prudent to wait until Howell wins the job to maximize their returns.

Cardinals Trade Rondale Moore to Falcons for Desmond Ridder

Rondale Moore: With Zac Robinson in town, a rise in Atlanta’s 11 personnel usage was expected in 2024 as they had nowhere to go but up (32nd last year), but the arrival of Rondale Moore seals it. A starting trio of Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Rondale Moore will be fun in 2024. Last year, Moore’s numbers sagged as he only drew an 11% target share and 11.2% first-read share while producing 0.79 yards per route run as the WR72 in fantasy points per game (per Fantasy Points Data). Unfortunately for Moore, this move is a better real-life move for the Falcons and Kirk Cousins than it is for Moore’s value. He’ll slot into the fifth spot in the target pecking order behind Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Darnell Mooney, and Bijan Robinson. He’s an irrelevant fantasy asset for 2024 unless injuries strike in this depth chart.

Desmond Ridder: Desmond Ridder moves to Arizona to backup Kyler Murray. Before this trade, Arizona had only Clayton Tune on the roster. Arizona had to address the backup position, and why not add a mobile quarterback who can do “some” of the same things in Arizona’s offense as Murray? Ridder proved last season that he isn’t up to the task of starting in the NFL. Among 39 qualifying quarterbacks, he ranked 24th in CPOE, 31st in highly accurate throw rate, and 11th-highest in off-target throw percentage (per Fantasy Points Data). Ridder will ride the pine this year with the Cardinals. If he sees the field, it means something has gone terribly wrong in 2024.

Joe Flacco Signs With Colts

Joe Flacco has agreed to a one-year deal with the Colts that could be worth up to $8.7 million and includes $4.5 million in guaranteed money, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. A 16-year NFL veteran, Flacco put himself back on the fantasy map last season with five late-season starts for the Browns in place of the injured Deshaun Watson. Flacco averaged 323.2 passing yards over those five games and threw 13 TD passes. He also had eight interceptions, plus two more in a playoff loss to the Texans.

The 39-year-old Flacco will now back up second-year Colts QB Anthony Richardson, who played only four games last season. Richardson missed one game with a concussion and landed on IR with a shoulder injury. As a backup, Flacco is undraftable in most redraft leagues, though Richardson investors will have Flacco on speed dial. Flacco’s handcuff status might make him rosterable in dynasty leagues despite his age.

Calvin Ridley Signs With Titans

In his first year back after a long layoff due to a gambling suspension, Ridley secured a pivotal role in the Jaguars’ offense, catching 76 passes on 136 targets for 1,016 yards, averaging 13.4 yards per reception. Nearly 1,800 air yards on a 22.5% target share and 36% air yards share. He scored 8 touchdowns, highlighting his red-zone effectiveness (3rd in red-zone targets).

Across 17 games, he totaled 191.9 fantasy points, averaging 11.3 points per game, making him a solid WR2 in fantasy formats. WR17 overall but WR26 in points per game.

For more on the Calvin Ridley trade: Calvin Ridley Signs With Titans

Mack Hollins Agrees to Deal With Bills

Mack Hollins is entering his age 31 season (wait what) and signed with the Buffalo Bills this offseason, presumably to operate as a field-stretcher and downfield blocker. Our new cardio king.

Hollins has only had one productive season in the NFL (2022 with the Raiders as the fantasy WR41) when finished 10th in routes run per dropbacks (93%) and commanded 1,153 air yards as the clear-cut No. 2 wide receiver.

The journeyman new landing spot will likely be completely overlooked by fantasy managers, but a WR running a route on 90% or more of Josh Allen’s dropbacks (the Gabe Davis role) is pretty tantalizing, especially at a free price tag.

Just don’t get carried away with Hollins as anything more than a depth fantasy WR4/5 a best. Worth an addition in deeper WR formats.

Austin Hooper to Sign With Patriots

The Patriots are expected to sign TE Austin Hooper. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Hooper is set to earn $4.25M on his one-year deal. The 29-year-old veteran tallied 234 receiving yards on 25 receptions in 17 games with Las Vegas last season. Hooper will provide a security blanket for a potential rookie quarterback.

Diontae Johnson Traded to Panthers

The Steelers are trading WR Diontae Johnson and a seventh-round draft pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for CB Donte Jackson and a sixth-round draft pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The 27-year-old Johnson has spent all five of his NFL seasons in Pittsburgh and is entering the final year of a two-year, $36.7 million deal.

A third-round pick in the 2019 draft, Johnson has averaged 78.2 catches, 872.6 yards and 5.0 TD catches a year over his five seasons with the Steelers. His best year was 2021, when he had 107 catches for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns. Johnson missed four games with a hamstring injury last season and finished with a career-low 51 catches for 717 yards and five touchdowns.

For more on the Diontae Johnson trade: Diontae Johnson Traded to Panthers

DeVante Parker Signs With Eagles

Entering his age 31 season, DeVante Parker is definitely on the back nine of his NFL career. His arrival in Philly means more for DeVonta Smith than it does for Parker. With Parker in town, Smith likely gets more slot reps and we could see the Eagles increase their 11 personnel usage some (third highest last season, 69.9%).

More slot time for Smith would be a boost for this talented receiver. Last season, Smith ranked 15th in yards per route run and fifth in passer rating when targeted in the slot (minimum ten slot targets per PFF). Parker doesn’t hold a ton of intrigue as a standalone fantasy asset. Last season, he surpassed 60 receiving yards on a barren depth chart only twice while earning a yawn-inducing 13.6% target share and 21.1% air-yard share while producing 1.28 yards per route run.

Take some stabs on Parker in best-ball leagues in the final rounds if you draft Jalen Hurts, but outside of that, I’ll be passing on him in 2024.

Gerald Everett Agrees to Deal With Bears

The Chicago Bears have agreed to a deal with TE Gerald Everett, according to Jeremy Fowler and Adam Schefter of ESPN. The two-year deal reportedly has a base value of $12 million and a maximum value of $14 million, with $6.1 million guaranteed. Everett had 51 catches for 411 yards and three touchdowns with the Chargers last season. His 8.1 yards per catch were a career low.

It’s hard to imagine Everett being a valuable fantasy asset in 2024 when he’s joining a team that already has Cole Kmet at tight end. Everett has topped 500 yards only once in seven NFL seasons, and his single-season high in touchdowns is four. Everett’s best-ever fantasy season was a TE15 finish (half-point PPR) in 2022. Everett won’t be the Bears’ top tight end, and he’ll likely be playing with a rookie quarterback. For fantasy purposes, consider the 29-year-old Everett a TE3, which means he’ll be undraftable in all but the deepest leagues.

DeeJay Dallas plans to sign with Cardinals

Former Seattle Seahawks RB DeeJay Dallas plans to sign with the Arizona Cardinals when the new league year starts. (Source: Jordan Schultz on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Dallas, a former fourth-round pick who has spent the last four seasons with Seattle, is set to join the Cardinals, staying in the NFC West. The former Miami Hurricane will likely occupy a similar role in the desert as he did in Seattle: depth RB who serves as a returner and special teams contributor. Dallas has played over 50% of his team’s special teams snaps each of the last three seasons and will provide depth alongside James Conner, Emari Demercado and Michael Carter.

Irv Smith Jr. signs with Chiefs

The Chiefs have signed TE Irv Smith Jr. to a one-year deal. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Smith operated as a backup with the Bengals last season and will join the Chiefs in the same role. The 25-year-old tallied 115 yards and one touchdown on 18 receptions in 12 games last season.

Drew Lock Agrees to Deal With Giants

Drew Lock has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with the New York Giants, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Lock is expected to back up Giants starter Daniel Jones, although Jones might not have a stranglehold on the starter’s job after five topsy-turvy NFL seasons. A second-round draft pick in 2019, Lock spent his first three seasons in Denver, making 21 starts but failing to seize a longer-term starter’s role. He spent the 2023 season in Seattle, where he made two starts in place of the injured Geno Smith. For his career, Lock has completed 59.7% of his passes and averaged 6.7 yards per attempt, with 28 touchdown passes and 23 interceptions. Lock is undraftable in all but the largest of redraft leagues, but he might be worth a roster spot in dynasty superflex leagues.

Derrick Henry to Sign With Ravens

Free agent and former Titans RB Derrick Henry agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Former Ravens RB Gus Edwards agreed to a two-year, $6.5M deal with the Las Angeles Chargers during the NFL’s first day of the legal tampering period on Monday, while J.K. Dobbins is a free agent and is recovering from an Achilles tear that ended his 2023 season after just eight carries.

For more on the Derrick Henry signing: Derrick Henry Expected to Sign with Ravens

Darnell Mooney Agrees to Deal With Falcons

WR Darnell Mooney has agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Falcons in which he will provide another weapon for the newly acquired Kirk Cousins. He joins a strong cast of playmakers, including WR Drake London, RB Bijan Robinson, and TE Kyle Pitts.

The 26-year-old Mooney is coming off a frustrating season in which he finished with 31 catches for 414 yards and one touchdown in 15 games. The Bears had the second run-heaviest offense in the league last season, running the ball on 48.7% of their offensive snaps. When Bears quarterbacks did throw, it was often to D.J. Moore, who commanded a 28.5% target share. Mooney missed the last two games of the season with a concussion.

For more on the Darnell Mooney signing: Darnell Mooney Agrees to Deal With Falcons

Joe Mixon Being Traded to Texans

The next addition to the RB market frenzy sees the Bengals trading Joe Mixon to the Texans. He will join an up-and-coming team with exciting playmakers, including QB C.J. Stroud, WR Tank Dell, and WR Nico Collins.

Mixon was RB12 in points per game and RB5 overall through 18 weeks in 2023. He played all 17 games and finished 8th in RB snap rate (69%). Also ended the year fourth in red zone carries.

The former Bengal was essentially a three-down bell cow from Weeks 1-12 until the Bengals started to feature rookie Chase Brown more in the backfield. Mixon’s target share (11%) stayed the same, but his route participation (42% vs 48%) dipped with Brown in the lineup.

With a three-down skill set entering his age-28 season, it’s very plausible Mixon still has plenty left in the tank to be productive for Houston. Their OL was ravaged by injuries a year ago and should be much improved.

Dameon Pierce is a zero in the passing game, setting Mixon up for a high snap share and fringe fantasy RB1 status. Adding a back of Mixon’s caliber made the most sense for Houston, given it can take the offense to another level. We saw a three-down back in CMC go nuclear in the 49ers offense the past two seasons. With the Texans under OC Bobby Slowik, we could see this offense take off with Mixon (and his fantasy managers) as a main benefactor.

Update: Joe Mixon signs three-year extension with Texans

2024 NFL Draft Guide

Aaron Jones Signing With Vikings

The surprise of the day on Monday was the Packers agreeing to a deal with former Raiders RB Josh Jacobs. Shortly after that deal was reported, news dropped that Green Bay was moving on from longtime RB Aaron Jones. Jones had immediate interest on the open market, and he has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Minnesota Vikings less than 24 hours later.

For more on the Aaron Jones signing: Aaron Jones Expected to Sign With Vikings

Sam Darnold to Sign With Vikings

On Monday afternoon, reports trickled out that Sam Darnold had multiple suitors, including the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos. By late Monday evening, we received news that Darnold had chosen to sign a one-year deal with the Vikings. Former Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins signed with the Atlanta Falcons earlier in the day, so Darnold should presumably have a chance to start for the Vikings, though he’ll likely have competition (our own Thor Nystrom is pounding the table for them to find a way to draft Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy).

For more on the Sam Darnold signing: Sam Darnold Agrees to Deal With Vikings

Joe Mixon Out, Zack Moss In With Bengals

Late Monday evening, the Bengals double-dipped with some news, with reports that they were releasing veteran RB Joe Mixon and had agreed to terms with RB Zack Moss. Moss’s deal with the Bengals is for two years and $8M. Unless and until other moves are made, he is the presumed starter in Cincinnati ahead of Chase Brown, who figures to handle more of the pass-catching duties.

Moss parlayed his starting stint last year with the Colts into a possible starting gig with the Bengals. In the seven games he started and played at least 50% of the snaps, he finished with 21.1 touches and 98.5 total yards per game.

Moss should handle the early downs in Cincinnati this season after ranking 15th in missed tackles forced per attempt and 18th in yards after contact per attempt last year (per Fantasy Points Data). Chase Brown could eat into his pass game work as Moss was only 41st in yards per route run and 48th in targets per route run.

Update: Instead of being released, Joe Mixon is being traded to the Houston Texans.

Noah Fant Re-Signs With Seahawks

TE Noah Fant agreed to terms on a two-year $21 million contract to stay with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday. Seattle lost both Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson on the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period on Monday, so keeping Fant apparently became a priority for them.

For more on the Noah Fant signing: Noah Fant Re-Signs With Seahawks

Jacoby Brissett signs with the Patriots

The Patriots are signing Jacoby Brissett. (Source: Jeremy Fowler on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Brissett returns to New England where he started his career backing up Tom Brady. The Patriots have said they plan to sign a veteran and draft a rookie this offseason. Brissett figures to compete with Bailey Zappe for the starting job for now, and we’ll see if they draft a quarterback in April.

Gardner Minshew II agrees to terms with the Raiders

The Raiders have agreed to terms with QB Gardner Minshew on a two-year deal.

Fantasy Impact: Minshew is expected to compete with QB Aidan O’Connell. The Raiders have also been rumored to be linked to Justin Fields in trade talks.

Brian Burns traded to the Giants

The Carolina Panthers are trading Brian Burns to the New York Giants for a second and fifth-round pick. (Source: Ralph Vacchiano on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: There had been trade rumors surrounding Burns dating back to last season. He recorded at least 7.5 sacks in all five seasons of his career in Carolina, including a career-high 12.5 sacks two years ago. He’ll be a huge boost to the pass rush for the Giants.

Antonio Gibson to sign with New England

Gibson lands in New England on a three-year deal, which is essentially a puffed-up one-year deal. New England can get out of Gibson’s contract after one season if he doesn’t pan out as Rhamondre Stevenson’s running mate this upcoming season. Last season, in a breather role, Gibson ranked first in missed tackles forced per attempt and eighth in yards after contact per attempt (per Fantasy Points Data). Gibson has displayed explosive playmaking when utilized properly, as well as also demonstrating the ability to be a volume rusher when it has been called for. Gibson should work in tandem with Stevenson as the pass-catching component of this backfield, but if Stevenson falters out the gate, don’t be surprised if Gibson takes over the lead role. Gibson is an interesting RB3 with upside in 2024.

Devin Singletary Agrees to Deal With Giants

On Monday afternoon, the Giants learned that RB Saquon Barkley had agreed to a deal with their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles. While it won’t be confused for a one-for-one replacement, New York added a new RB of their own on Monday, agreeing to sign former Bills and Texans RB Devin Singletary.

The journeyman running back took over the Houston backfield in Week 8 after a Dameon Pierce injury and never let go of the starting gig. 11.6 points per game as the RB23. Nothing new for Singletary, who has been a rock-solid fantasy producer when given starting opportunities in the second halves of multiple seasons throughout his NFL career.

For more on the Devin Singletary signing: Devin Singletary Agrees to Deal With Giants

Austin Ekeler Headed to Washington Commanders

Austin Ekeler is leaving the new-look Los Angeles Chargers for the new-look Washington Commanders. The veteran RB reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year deal with Washington on Monday afternoon. The most interesting part is perhaps that the deal only comes with $4.82M in guaranteed money, and it’s only worth up to $11.43 million over two years.

He likely forms a frustrating committee with Brian Robinson in an Antonio Gibson-plus role for Washington.

2024 NFL Draft Guide

Gus Edwards Agrees to Deal With Chargers

The Gus Bus is headed to Hollywood.

Former Ravens RB Gus Edwards agreed to a two-year, $6.5M deal with the Las Angeles Chargers during the NFL’s legal tampering period on Monday. Later in the day, Chargers RB Austin Ekeler agreed to terms with the Washington Commanders.

Gus Edwards finished the 2023 season as the RB32 in points per game (10.4). Edwards entered the year with 13 career TDs and scored 13 rushing touchdowns in 2023 alone. No RB had more carries inside the 5-yard line than Edwards.

For more on the Gus Edwards signing: Gus Edwards Agrees to Deal With Chargers

Saquon Barkley agrees to terms with Eagles

Saquon Barkley will sign a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal is reportedly worth at least $37.75 million, could be worth up to $46.75 million, and includes $26 million in guaranteed money.

It’s a hefty contract by the standards of the RB position, but the Eagles are getting one of the more talented running backs in the league. Since entering the NFL in 2018, Barkley has averaged 98.8 yards from scrimmage per game.

The 27-year-old Barkley figures to play a workhorse role with the Eagles, who had a vacancy at the RB position after D’Andre Swift agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears on Monday. Kenneth Gainwell figures to serve as Barkley’s primary backup, and it’s hard to imagine any of the Eagles’ other running backs playing a fantasy-relevant role in 2024.

For more on the Saquon Barkley signing: Saquon Barkley agrees to terms with Eagles

Kirk Cousins agrees to four-year deal with Falcons

The most anticipated 2024 NFL free agent domino fell Monday afternoon, with Kirk Cousins agreeing to a four-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. This has a major impact on both the Falcons and Vikings, and it will affect the primary fantasy playmakers from both squads.

Cousins will be 36 years old in 2024, coming off a major injury. The Vikings QB suffered a torn Achilles against the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. He led the NFL in TD passes (18) before his injury. Cousins was the fantasy QB6 overall, averaging just under 20 points per game.

New Falcons OC Zac Robinson will likely design an offense similar to the one Kevin O’Connell uses with the Vikings, given that the two stem from the Sean McVay coaching tree.

Josh Jacobs agrees to sign with Packers

We have our first major surprise of the NFL’s legal tampering period, with news breaking early Monday afternoon that the Green Bay Packers had agreed to terms with former Raiders RB Josh Jacobs. Not long after this news dropped, word came out that the Packers are releasing RB Aaron Jones.

Jacobs had a rollercoaster 2023 season, starting slow but then performing well until a quad injury knocked him out of the last four games of the season.

2024 Fantasy Football Best Ball Draft Kit

Gabe Davis agrees to deal with Jaguars

The Jaguars are expected to sign WR Gabe Davis to a three-year deal. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The Jaguars were able to strike early in the wide receiver marker by landing Davis. The 24-year-old wideout tallied 746 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 45 receptions last season. Davis should be a key player in the Jaguars’ offense in 2024.

Tony Pollard to sign with the Titans

The Titans are expected to sign RB Tony Pollard. (Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Pollard is coming off his second consecutive 1,000 yard season with the Cowboys. The move will give the Titans a strong duo of Pollard and Tyjae Spears as they prepare for their first season without Derrick Henry. Pollard should remain a top fantasy running back option heading into the 2024 season.

For more on the Tony Pollard signing: Tony Pollard Agrees to Deal With Titans

D’Andre Swift agrees to three-year deal with Bears

The NFL legal tampering period kicked off at 12pm ET on Monday, and the Bears wasted no time in agreeing to terms with one of their top targets. Former Lions and Eagles RB D’Andre Swift has agreed to a three-year $24M deal with Chicago.

The big payday might seem somewhat surprising, but Swift is coming off a very solid season as a rusher versus expectations.

In fantasy, Swift was the was the RB17, averaging 11.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, accounting for nearly 70% of the backfield rushing attempts for the Eagles. RB25 in points per game.

Still, on the year, Swift was never fully emphasized as a receiver, being swapped for Kenneth Gainwell at times of third downs and inside two minutes. As a result, he only ran a route on 37% of dropbacks (29th) – although he posted a strong 21% target rate per route run.

For more on the D’Andre Swift signing: D’Andre Swift Agrees to Deal With Bears

Michael Pittman Jr. re-signs with Colts for three years

The Colts signed Michael Pittman Jr. to a three-year deal worth up to $71.5M with $46M guaranteed. (Jordan Schultz on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The Colts placed the franchise tag on Pittman with hopes of working out a new long-term deal, and they were able to work out a three-year deal. With Anthony Richardson currently on track to be fully healthy by the start of the season, Pittman should continue to post the steady production he has been doing as he enters his fifth season with the Colts.

Pittman Jr. proved his alpha status all year long in the Colts offense with 109 receptions (7th) on 156 targets, accumulating 1,152 yards, averaging 10.6 yards per catch. Like Josh Downs, he had an equally bad TD production with only 4 TDs. Even so, in 16 games, racking up 195.7 fantasy points (WR15 overall), which averages out to 12.2 points per game (WR19). Nearly 1300 air yards (33% air yards share), with a 30% target share to boot – 4th-highest among all WRs. Pittman comes with a super-high floor that could be further unlocked with better TD variance in 2024.

Russell Wilson Signs With Steelers

Late Sunday night, on the eve of the NFL’s legal tampering period, reports broke that former Seahawks and Broncos QB Russell Wilson is signing a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the Broncos on the hook for the majority of Wilson’s salary, he is expected to sign for the $1.21M veteran minimum in Pittsburgh.

The 35-year-old Wilson threw for 3,017 yards in 15 games last season, with 26 touchdown passes and eight interceptions. Wilson’s completion percentage (66.4%), yards per attempt (7.2) and passer rating (98.0) all improved after his disastrous 2022 debut with the Broncos, but there seemed to be friction between Wilson and first-year Broncos head coach Sean Payton, who benched Wilson for the final two games of the season.

Tee Higgins requests trade after franchise tagging

Tee Higgins has requested a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals after extensions talks have ceased since last year and receiving the franchise tag earlier this offseason. (Source: Adam Schefter via Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: According to Schefter, Higgins wants to remain in Cincy but after no talks of an extension have materialized, he wants to find a new home instead of playing on the franchise tag. This is huge news to the wide receiver market and no doubt teams around the league will be calling Cincinnati about their young star.

Kendrick Bourne returning to Patriots on three-year deal

The New England Patriots and WR Kendrick Bourne have come to terms on a three-year deal worth up to $33 million. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: A few days before ultimately signing back with the Patriots, Bourne said he would prefer to return to New England in 2024, and the team got the deal done shortly after. Halfway through last season, Bourne tore his ACL, but he said he plans to be ready to go by training camp. He may be off to a slow start in 2024 because of the injury, and he’ll be adjusting to a new man under center as well with Mac Jones now in Jacksonville.

Mike Evans Re-Signs with Buccaneers

Mike Evans has agreed to a two-year deal with the Buccaneers worth $52 million, including $35 million in guaranteed money, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Evans, who turns 31 in August, has played 10 NFL seasons, all of them with the Bucs.

After scoring only six touchdowns in 2022, Evans had 13 TD catches in 2023, tying Tyreek Hill for the league lead. The seventh overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, Evans has topped 1,000 yards in each of his 10 seasons in Tampa. With a 1,000-yard season in 2024, Evans would tie Jerry Rice’s record for most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons by a receiver. Rice went over 1,000 yards in 11 straight seasons from 1986 to 1996.

Evans currently sits 10th among wide receivers and 27th overall on the all-time touchdown list with 95, tied with Raiders WR Davante Adams.
