Fantasy Football Player Notes

Chris Olave continued his 2025 dominance and started this year on fire. Even though he had multiple trips to the medical tent, he kept returning and scoring fantasy points. In their overtime barn burner, Olave finished with 10 catches for 182 yards. We're one week in, and Olave leads all receivers in receptions and yards. This week, they face Jesse Minter and the Ravens new look defense. Outside of the opening drive, the Ravens defense smothered the Colts, holding Daniel Jones to 166 passing yards. I'm worried it will be tough sledding for the Saints offense this week. That said, even without touchdown upside, Olave's target share keeps him as a low-end WR1 even in a tough matchup.

In Week 1, Devaughn Vele finished as the WR10 in fantasy as Tyler Shough passed early and often, trying to keep up with Detroit. Vele's nine targets look nice on paper until you realize that Shough chucked it 56 times and Vele had a 16.1% target share with 69 receiving yards (1.25 yards per route run). Vele was second on the team with a 22% first-read share with one red zone and one deep target. The inflated passing volume helped puff up Vele's box score, but his per-route numbers were just okay. Vele is a decent flex this week, but the matchup is tougher. In Week 1, Baltimore allowed the 12th-fewest fantasy points per target to slot receivers while ranking 17th in yards per target allowed to the position.
