8 Fantasy Football Bold Predictions for Week 6 (2023)

8 Fantasy Football Bold Predictions for Week 6 (2023)

It’s time for weekly bold predictions. The point here is that if you follow the consensus, you’re probably going to have a good team. But in order to go from good to great, you have to take some chances. You have to do your homework and figure out where you can zig when the rest of your league (or at least your opponent this week) zags. In short, you need to know how and when to be bold.

We asked our analysts to provide a bold prediction for Week 6. Their answers and justifications are below.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Bold Predictions

What is one bold fantasy prediction (player-related) for the upcoming week, and why could it happen?

Raheem Mostert (RB – MIA)

Raheem Mostert scores at least two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. The veteran running back has eight touchdowns this season, tied with Christian McCaffrey for the most in the NFL. Yet, he’s been splitting the backfield with De’Von Achane, who has seven touchdowns this year, the third-most in the league. Unfortunately, the rookie will miss time with a knee injury, creating a prime opportunity for Mostert. Meanwhile, the Panthers have surrendered eight rushing touchdowns to running backs this season, the most in the NFL. They have given up two touchdowns in all but one game this year, and that trend continues in Week 6.”

CeeDee Lamb (WR – DAL)

“Maybe not super bold, but something has to give with CeeDee Lamb. He has been, quite frankly, awful this year from a fantasy perspective. His only monster game came against the Jets in Week 2 (11 Rec, 143 yards), and that is not good enough. This week, he gets the Chargers, where all woes seemingly get resolved. It also helps that Lamb has personally spoken to Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy about his lack of involvement, and as we have seen from the likes of A.J. Brown, Ja’Marr Chase, and Garrett Wilson this year that when you complain one week, you are heavily involved the next. CeeDee will finish as a top 5 receiver this week. He is a set-it-and-forget-it play.”
Ed Birdsall (Talking Points Sports)

Gardner Minshew (QB – IND)

Gardner Minshew can finish Top-5 in Week 6. When teams play for the second time, fantasy points decrease in the quarterback position. However, the last time was Anthony Richardson under center. This time, Minshew Mania is facing a Jaguars defense that allows the ninth-highest FPPG to be positioned.”
Joe Pepe (Beyond The Gridiron)

Austin Ekeler (RB – LAC) & Keenan Allen (WR – LAC)

“The Chargers trio dominates Dallas with three top-3 finishers. Austin Ekeler returns and re-establishes himself at the top of the RB rankings. Keenan Allen, fresh off the bye week, finishes as a top-three WR in Week 6. Kellen Moore revenge game ends with his offense doubling the Dallas Cowboys in points. Justin Herbert finishes in the top three and continues his fantasy dominance.”

Zay Flowers (WR – BAL)

Zay Flowers will finish Week 6 as a top 10 fantasy wide receiver: Yes, the buy-low window will officially close come Sunday afternoon after the Ravens-Titans game concludes in London. Flowers’ air yards have increased in consecutive weeks, and the rookie could’ve been a top WR in Week 5 had he not comically tripped on a potential 50+ yard touchdown pass against Pittsburgh. Nonetheless, we know talent is not lacking for the first-round rook here. With the lack of talent around him in the Baltimore WR room these days, however – Rashod Bateman, as the kids like to say, “ain’t it” – Flowers is OVER-due for his first-ever breakout game vs. a pass-funneling, below-average secondary in the Titans. Tennessee has allowed a 100+ yard WR in every game this season other than in Week 4 vs. a hobbled Joe Burrow & Co. – Chris Olave, Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, even Josh Downs‘ 97 receiving yards last week (yes, I’m rounding up from 95 to 100 here for the sake of this juicy stat) – show just how poor this pass defense is. The matchup, the air yards, the increasing aDOT, and the new intermediate-to-deep route role all add up to the perfect storm for Flowers this Sunday and for the rest of the season beyond. Buy low now, before it’s too late. This is only the beginning of the 2023 breakout for Sir Xavien “Zay” Kevonn Flowers.”
Christopher Dell (Betting Predators)

Rhamondre Stevenson (RB – NE)

Rhamondre Stevenson BREAKOUT game. The Las Vegas Raiders struggle to generate pass rush outside of Maxx Crosby and have a horrible run defense that has made sub-poor offenses run the ball effectively this season. They rank 10th in rushing yards allowed per game. The New England Patriots will likely be able to establish some ground game, considering they won’t be down two TDs from the get-go versus an equally sluggish Raiders offense. Keep in mind that Stevenson rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown the last time he faced the LV in 2022.”
Andrew Erickson (FantasyPros)

Jared Goff (QB – DET)

Jared Goff will throw for three touchdowns on the road against the Buccaneers this week. What makes this a bold prediction? Part of it is that the Buccaneers are a tough matchup, ranking No. 2 in DVOA against the pass. But mostly, it’s because Goff has posted some extreme home/road splits in his two-plus seasons with the Lions. Since arriving in Detroit in 2021, Goff has thrown 43 TD passes in 20 home games — an average of 2.15 touchdowns a game. In his 16 road games with the Lions, Goff has thrown only 14 TD passes — an average of 0.88 touchdowns a game. I don’t buy the notion that Goff will turn to jelly simply because he’s not playing at Ford Field. Goff has been playing at a high level. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is one of the best playcallers in the game. Amon-Ra St. Brown is expected back from an abdominal injury, giving Goff a full complement of weapons. It’s time for Goff to go off.”
Pat Fitzmaurice (FantasyPros)

Joe Burrow (QB – CIN) & Ja’Marr Chase (WR – CIN)

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase both finish atop their respective positions for fantasy in Week 6. We all know that these two have the skill and chemistry to make this happen. In fact, this duo managed to lead their positions in Weeks 6 and 7 last year. Not only is it Week 6 a year later (now that’s hard-hitting analysis), but they face a Seahawks team that is allowing the most passing yards, 2nd most QB fantasy points, and 3rd most passing TDs per game. As for Chase, he has the 2nd most receptions this season, and the Seahawks are allowing the MOST fantasy points, receptions, yards, and touchdowns to the WR position per game. It’s nice to see this Bengals’ offense cooking again, and this week should be all-you-can-eat fantasy points.”
