Fantasy Football Player Notes

Last year, before being lost to a knee injury (Weeks 1-6), Garrett Wilson was the WR10 in fantasy points per game. During that span, he commanded a 31.2% target share with 65.8 receiving yards per game, 1.92 yards per route run, a whopping 45.9% first-read share, and 0.087 first downs per route run (per Fantasy Points Data). With more weapons installed around him this offseason (Omar Cooper Jr. and Kenyon Sadiq), Wilson's target share and first-read share could dip some, but he'll still be the clear leader of the passing attack with (hopefully) improved quarterback play with Geno Smith under center. Wilson is a strong WR2 with WR1 upside if the Jets new look offense gels in 2026.

Omar Cooper Jr. is a viable late-round dart throw. Yes, I have concerns about the Jets' passing attack outside of Garrett Wilson. How many players can Geno Smith support in fantasy in 2026 when he was wretched last year? Considering Cooper's late-round ADP, though, the risk is all baked in, and expectations are low. Cooper has the talent to outperform them. During his final season in college, he was 36th in yards per route run, 27th in YAC per reception, and fourth in missed tackles (per PFF). Cooper displayed the ability to operate in the slot and on the perimeter in college, so don't be surprised if he is playing in two wide receiver sets in short order in 2026.

Last year, after joining the Jets, Adonai Mitchell saw a 23.6% target share and a 30% first-read share, but he did very little with it, producing only 37.6 receiving yards per game and 1.37 yards per route run (per Fantasy Points Data). Yes, the quarterback play for the Jets last year can be a large part of this discussion, but we also have to acknowledge that Mitchell saw that volume without Garrett Wilson in the lineup. Mitchell likely fills a field-stretching role for the Jets in 2026, which I don't expect to be a high-volume one. Mitchell is a deep league or best-ball option only.
