Fantasy Football Player Notes

2019 Rest of Season Rankings
James Conner Note
James Conner photo 46. James Conner RB - (at BAL)
Conner injured his AC joint in Week 8 against the Dolphins and missed the game against the Colts. He's likely to miss another week recovering, which should leave Jaylen Samuels in the driver's seat for the Steelers. Conner has battled injuries on and off all season long, but when healthy, has delivered quality fantasy performances. There's not much to do as a Conner owner but hold him and wait for him to recover, which should be within two weeks.

JuJu Smith-Schuster Note
JuJu Smith-Schuster photo 86. JuJu Smith-Schuster WR - (at BAL)
There is no doubt about it that JuJu was the best slot receiver in football last year. Part of that, of course, had to do with Antonio Brown drawing loads of attention, and it remains to a question how he will perform outside versus stronger cornerback matchups. The target share is expected to improve but that assumes Big Ben again throws a league-high 675 passes which seems unlikely.

James Washington Note

If Juju Smith-Schuster comes back, Washington probably wouldn't be startable even in the flex, but Washington should be worth picking up just in case Juju misses another game. He'd be ranked among the top 40 wideouts with a great matchup versus Arizona.

Benny Snell Jr. Note
Benny Snell Jr. photo 126. Benny Snell Jr. RB - (at BAL)
Much like last week, there is a chance James Conner comes back and gobbles up all the touches for himself. The upside far outweighs that risk, however. Snell now has 39 touches in the past two weeks and just so happens to be coming into matchups against the Cardinals lousy defense and the Bills' struggling run defense over the next two weeks. You can bet he'll be ranked among the top 24 options in both contests if Conner is out once again.

Jaylen Samuels Note

Samuels missed Week 8 and may not even be ready to go for Week 9, but when he does return, we are almost certainly looking at the best handcuff for James Conner.

Diontae Johnson Note

Johnson is coming off a big game, but you can't rely on him while Hodges is under center, especially considering they have a bad matchup against the Bills this week and Juju may be coming back.

Pittsburgh Steelers Note

Vance McDonald Note
Vance McDonald photo 215. Vance McDonald TE - (at BAL)
You may be tempted to pick up McDonald if you need a tight end this week, but even despite several promising matchups like the one he has this week, McDonald has yet to surpass 40 yards in any game all season.

Trey Edmunds Note

Devlin Hodges Note
Devlin Hodges photo 251. Devlin Hodges QB - (at BAL)
Hodges will continue to be the starter for the Steelers, at least into Week 16, according to Mike Tomlin. Although it's not a terrible matchup with the Jets, he's likely not on any championship rosters or in any DFS lineups. He's not worth consideration in any fantasy league.
