NFL Week 6 DFS Lineup Advice: GPP (2022 Fantasy Football)

Last week was full of mixed results. We had some serious duds along the way, but we also had some guys go nuts. That’s the volatility you’ll get when talking about GPP players because these guys have low floors but even higher ceilings. The injury bug keeps making its way through the NFL, unfortunately, and it’ll surely play a factor in some of these recommendations. With that in mind, let’s get started with the quarterbacks!

The players below are ones I’m looking at for GPP considerations for Week 6:

Quarterbacks

DraftKings

Geno Smith (QB -SEA): $5,700, vs. ARI
We had Mr. Smith in last week’s article, and we’re going right back to the well. The former West Virginia stud has been showing out in Seattle, averaging over 21 DraftKings points per game. That’s fourth at the position, but Smith is outside the Top-10 in terms of pricing. That alone makes him enticing, but Arizona has been awful defensively. In fact, the Cardinals own a 23rd OPRK against opposing signal-callers this season.

Daniel Jones (QB – NYG): $5,200, vs. BAL
It’s daring to use Daniel, but this guy has shown some flashes. The former first-round pick has at least 13 DK points in all five games, posting a 16-point average. That doesn’t sound special, but it’s all you can ask for from a guy barely cracking $5K. He’s done that damage despite throwing for 200 yards or fewer in four fixtures, providing value through his legs. That dual threat makes him a dandy option against the Ravens, ranked 28th in yardage surrendered.

FanDuel

Patrick Mahomes (QB – KC): $8,600, vs. BUF
Everyone will be on Josh Allen, so this is an excellent counterattack to that chalk. Mahomes is back to his MVP ways, scoring at least 17 FD points in all five games. He’s also generating a 25-point average, attempting at least 35 passes in every outing as well. Many people might be scared off of this bludgeoning Buffalo defense, but Patty provided 61 total FanDuel points in their two matchups last season. This slate-high 54-point total would indicate that we’re also looking at a shootout!

Marcus Mariota (QB – ATL): $6,800, vs. SF
Mariota and Jones are very similar players. Both of these guys are establishing a high floor with their rushing, and it’s making them great options for DFS. The former Oregon Duck has at least 15 FD points in four of his five starts, despite averaging fewer than 200 yards per game. Something tells me Mariota will have to surpass that here to keep up with the 49ers, and he could be forced into 10-plus rush attempts against this stout defense. It will scare DFS managers to oppose San Fran, but it could force Mariota into gross production in garbage time with a ton of volume headed his way.

In Consideration: Kyler Murray (QB – ARI): DK $7,300/FD $8,300, vs. SEA
Seattle has one of the worst secondaries in the NFL, and Murray should feast against them. He’s got at least 17 DK points in every game, establishing one of the highest floors in football.

Running Backs

DraftKings

Rhamondre Stevenson (RB – NE): $6,000, at CLE
It’s very possible that Stevenson will be chalk, but he needs to be in your lineup no matter what type of tourney you’re in. The youngster has seen his carries rise in every game this season, culminating in 161 yards in Week 4. That directly correlates with the Damien Harris (hamstring) injury, and Stevenson would be unstoppable if he’s an every-down back. We say that because he’s averaging 5.5 yards per carry this season. That’s concerning for a Cleveland team that ranks 28th in rushing yards and 30th in yards per carry surrendered.

J.K. Dobbins (RB – BAL): $5,500, at NYG
Baltimore has been waiting for Dobbins to get healthy, and it looks like we’re finally there. The de facto sophomore has 85 rushing yards on 21 carries over the last two weeks, and we have to assume his workload will rise from here on out. We’re talking about a guy who averaged 16 DK points per game as the starter in the second half of his rookie season, and he should return to that stud sooner rather than later. We also don’t mind that he faces a New York team that sits 28th in both rushing yards allowed and yards per carry surrendered.

FanDuel

Jonathan Taylor (RB – IND): $8,000, vs. JAX
More people are going to fade Taylor than they should. This monster was $2,000 more just a few weeks ago, and some injuries and ineffectiveness have plummeted his pricing. We’ll take advantage of that here, with JT leading all ball carriers in fantasy points since the start of last season. Facing Jacksonville is fantastic, too, with Taylor averaging 23.5 Fanduel points in their last three matchups. Just take the low ownership and count your guaranteed 20 fantasy points.

Kenneth Walker (RB – SEA): $6,500 vs. ARI

Walker will be used in almost every fantasy format, and it’s easy to understand why. The rookie played almost every snap once Rashaad Penny got injured, and he’ll likely be an every-down back with Penny out for the year. The rookie is averaging an absurd 6.3-yards per carry and is regarded as the best pass-catching back on this team. With the expanded role and elite efficiency, Walker should wallop an Arizona team that owns a 21st OPRK against opposing backs.

In Consideration: Raheem Mostert (RB – MIA): DK $5,700/FD $6,500 vs. MIN
Mostert has established his dominance in Miami’s backfield with a 69 percent snap share in Week 5, and he’s always proven to be an effective runner when given the opportunity.

Wide Receivers

DraftKings

D.J. Moore (WR – CAR): $5,100 at LAR
I might be an idiot for going back to Moore, but I just don’t believe he’s a $5,100 player. This dude was at $7K at times last season, ranked sixth in the NFL in targets. The production hasn’t been there but playing in 97 percent of the team’s snaps while posting a 24 percent target share indicates that some positive regression is right around the corner. A new coach and quarterback is a good way to get him back on track, and you better believe Carolina will throw a ton to keep up with the Rams.

Romeo Doubs (WR – GB): $4,800 vs. NYJ
Aaron Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, and one of these guys will establish themselves as his top target. This rookie looks like the best bet outside of Allen Lazard, playing in 92 percent of the team’s snaps since Week 3. Most players who play that much are $2,000 more, and we have to capitalize on this sub-$5K price tag from a player in such a profitable position. Facing the Jets is great, too, with NY owning a 19th OPRK against opposing wideouts.

FanDuel

Cooper Kupp (WR – LAR): $9,400 vs. CAR
This price tag will scare some people away, but Kupp is the de facto free square with how he’s been playing. He’s on pace to set an NFL record in receptions after leading the league in fantasy points last year. He’s simply the best option in DFS, scoring at least 19 FanDuel points in all but one game. Not many quarterbacks are doing that, and it’s pretty much on par with what he did in a historic 2021 campaign.

Diontae Johnson (WR – PIT): $6,300 vs. TB
Johnson had a million “almost” catches in Week 5, and it’s clear a big game is right around the corner. The Steelers’ top receiver leads the team with a 28.2 percent target share, recording double-digit targets in all but one game. That’s impossible to find from such an affordable player, and it’s just a matter of time before the volume turns into production. Tampa is a terrifying matchup, but Pittsburgh should have to throw a ton as a massive underdog in this game.

In Consideration: Chris Godwin (WR – TB): DK $6,100/FD $6,800, at PIT
Godwin has played 68 percent of the team’s snaps while picking up 16 total targets over the last two games. If those trends continue, Godwin will be $1,000 more on both sites in a few weeks!

Tight Ends

DraftKings

Cade Otton (TE – TB): $2,900 at PIT
You must scroll far to find Otton, but this pricing is criminal. We all know Tom Brady loves his tight ends, and it looks like Otton will be the guy in the absence of Cameron Brate. He led all tight ends with 74 snaps in the Week 5 fill-in, picking up six catches for 43 yards on seven targets. Anybody playing that much at this price is intriguing but getting a blossoming rookie below $3K with a quarterback like Brady is brilliant.

Zach Ertz (TE – ARI): $6,000 at SEA
Ertz has returned to the stud we saw in Philly. His increased role is the main reason why he sits third in total snaps and fourth in targets among all tight ends. That usage has led to Ertz recording at least six receptions in four straight games. It’s hard to find six targets from anyone at this position right now, and it feels likely to continue with the Seahawks surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.

In Consideration: George Kittle (TE – SF): DK $5,100/FD $5,700 at ATL
Kittle has been terrible from a fantasy perspective, but it’s just a matter of time before he gets hot. Facing this 28th-ranked Atlanta defense is a good way to get rolling, and this might be the lowest we see Kittle’s price all season.

Defense/Special Teams

DraftKings

San Francisco 49ers D/ST: $3,700 at ATL
This pricing is bizarre. San Fran has looked like the best defense all season, leading all D/STs with 12 DK points per game. They could keep that going against this atrocious Atlanta offense, sitting 23rd in yards per game. They also possess one of the worst offensive lines, and we have to believe Mariota will be running for his life all day long.

Green Bay Packers D/ST: $4,600 vs. NYJ
People might be scared to use D/STs against the Jets after their 40-point outburst last week, but that’d be a mistake. This team surrendered the most fantasy points to opposing D/STs last season and owns a 23rd OPRK this year. Green Bay is a terrifying matchup for Zach Wilson, too, with the Packers ranked Top-10 in points allowed and yardage surrendered. They also enter this game as a 7.5-point favorite, with NY projected for just 19 points.

In Consideration: Lox Angeles Rams D/ST: DK $4,100/FD $4,400, vs. CAR
The Rams have one of the most talented defenses in football, and they could feast against this 32nd-ranked offense with a new quarterback and head coach.
