The Buffalo Bills and free agent wide receiver Andre Holmes agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth $6.5 million. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Holmes, who spent the last four years in Oakland, signed with the Bills Saturday. Buried on the Raiders' wide receiver depth chart, Holmes caught 14 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns last season while appearing in all 16 games. Since Buffalo's wideouts are all career role players outside of Sammy Watkins, Holmes has an outstanding chance to enter 2017 as one of the Bills' top three receivers.

The Minnesota Vikings and former Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray have agreed to a deal. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: The workhorse finished last season with 768 yards and 12 touchdowns on 195 attempts while catching 38 balls for 264 yards. Murray signing with the Vikings likely means that Adrian Petersons days in Minnesota are over. In regards to fantasy Murray should have similar value considering he should be more of a focal point in the offense rather than participating in a RBBC approach. Do not expect another 12 TD season but overall Murray can be considered a solid RB2 to begin the season.

The Sacramento Bee believes that Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will likely sign a contract extension at some point this offseason. (Source: The Sacramento Bee)

Fantasy Impact: Most likely, it will be after free agency and the draft, allowing the team flexibility in cap space when it comes to bringing in key free agents. Carr is certainly deserving of the extension, as he has shown consistent improvement since coming in as a rookie. He makes for an interesting low-end QB1 option in fantasy leagues next season.

Category: Rumors

Matt McGloin told reporters that he hopes to have a chance to compete for a starting job in 2017. He's an impending free agent. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: McGloin won't get that shot in Oakland with Derek Carr entrenched as the starter, so he'll have to look elsewhere. One team that's been rumored has been the Texans. The connection is there, given the team's struggles and Bill O'Brien's history at Penn State with McGloin. Even if McGloin is signed and given a shot to start entering next season, he'll be a stretch as a viable fantasy QB entering the new year.

Category: Rumors

Sebastian Janikowski was perfect on both his extra point attempts Saturday against the Texans. He did not attempt a field goal.

Fantasy Impact: For the season, Janikowski converted 29-of-35 field goals (82.9 percent) and 37-of-39 extra point attempts. He's not the most accurate kicker in the league, but he still possesses a strong leg and he should be afforded plenty of opportunities in an up-and-coming Raiders offense next season.

Category: Game Recaps

Jalen Richard rushed three times for three yards and caught both his targets in the passing game for eight yards Saturday against the Texans. He made his biggest contribution on special teams, returning five punts for 68 yards and two kick returns for 38 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Richard was instrumental in the Raiders' first touchdown on Saturday, as he returned a punt 37 yards to give his team great field position. On the return, he displayed power by breaking a tackle after getting stone walled, agility to reverse field, and explosiveness to scamper down the sideline. With Latavius Murray unlikely to return for the Raiders next season, Richard could garner a significant share of the backfield with fellow rookie DeAndre Washington.

Category: Game Recaps

DeAndre Washington carried four times for 16 yards and could not haul in his lone target in the passing game Saturday against the Houston Texans. His longest rush went for 14 yards.

Fantasy Impact: The rookie from Texas Tech played in 14 games this season and rushed 87 times for 467 yards, scored two touchdowns on the ground, and caught 17-of-23 targets for 115 yards in the passing game. With Latavius Murray unlikely to return for the Raiders next season, Washington could find an elevated role in the Raiders' backfield but will probably share duties with fellow rookie Jalen Richard.

Category: Game Recaps

Amari Cooper registered two catches for 10 yards on 10 targets in Saturday's loss to the Texans.

Fantasy Impact: Cooper didn't deliver his floor, which was no catches in this case, but he didn't do much better. He's been inconsistent all season, but at least the expectations were lowered entering the playoff matchup against Houston considering Connor Cook was under center.

Category: Game Recaps

Michael Crabtree was limited to two catches and 33 yards receiving on seven targets in Saturday's playoff loss to the Texans.

Fantasy Impact: Crabtree was hampered by the play of QB Connor Cook and the conservative play calling that resulted from his start. He was likely avoided for DFS purposes, and his performance was essentially what was expected given the circumstance.

Category: Game Recaps

Connor Cook completed 18 of his 45 pass attempts with one touchdown and three interceptions in Saturday's playoff loss to the Texans. He finished with a QB rating of 30.

Fantasy Impact: This was about what could be expected from a rookie, third-string QB making his first start against one of the best defenses in the league. Cook hamstrung the team's two top WRs, Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper, who combined for only four catches and less than 50 yards receiving.

Category: Game Recaps

Clive Walford caught 1-of-3 targets for 17 yards Sunday against the Broncos.

Fantasy Impact: Walford only caught 33 passes on 52 targets for 359 yards this season with three touchdowns. We saw glimpses of his athleticism, but he just did not receive consistent targets to be fantasy relevant. It usually takes time for young tight ends to develop, so there's hope for Walford, as he just concluded his second year in the league. With Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree on the outside, Walford could be a potent weapon attacking the middle of the field. If he can develop and start gaining the trust of Derek Carr, Walford could be a sneaky fantasy option next season.

Category: Game Recaps

Seth Roberts caught 2-of-9 targets for 12 yards. His longest catch went for 13 yards, so you do the math.

Fantasy Impact: Roberts dropped some easy ones in this game, but Carr trusts him and kept going back to him, including a jump ball on 4th down on the last possession. Roberts is third in the pecking order behind Cooper and Crabtree, but he does get redzone looks every game.

Jamize Olawale records one reception for eight yards against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Impact: Olawale has not been given many opportunities this season, but he has still managed to total 17 carries for 47 yards and two touchdowns to go along with nine receptions for 197 yards and one touchdown.

Mychal Rivera scores a touchdown

Sun, Oct 30th 10:28pm EDT
By Stan Son

Mychal Rivera caught all three of his targets for 36 yards and a touchdown. His longest went for 27 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Rivera has hauled in 6-of-7 targets for 66 yards with one touchdown on the season. For the season.

Category: Game Recaps

K.J. Brent caught three of his six targets for 54 yards in the Oakland Raiders' defeat to the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Impact: The undrafted rookie should not be taken at all, but with him being targeted six times it will be interesting to see if he makes the roster to give quarterback Derek Carr another offensive weapon. With Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree and Seth Roberts the three primary receivers Brent is battling for the fourth receiver spot at best.

According to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Oakland Raiders are expected to part ways with veteran running back Roy Helu (hip). Helu had struggled to remain healthy since signing with the Raiders in 2015. (Source: Vic Tafur on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The Oakland Raiders are cutting ties with Roy Helu due to his ongoing health related issues. The Raiders will head into the 2016 season with Latavius Murray and DeAndre Washington as their top two running backs.

Taiwan Jones has a knee issue and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Jones has minimal value in PPR leagues, but you should look for better options for either your playoff lineup or final week to qualify.

Category: Injury Updates

After Latavius Murray was knocked out the game with a possible concussion, it was Marcel Reece that took over the running duties. He carried three times for 21 yards.

Fantasy Impact: If Murray is out for any period of time, it is Murray that will assume the duties. Taiwan Jones fumbled a kick off return and was subsequently benched. Reece is big, fast and versatile. He has proven that he could carry the load if given the opportunity.

When rosters are trimmed to 53 this afternoon at 4pm, the Raiders are expected to release backup QB Christian Ponder. Ponder was signed as a free agent and was given a $1.5 million signing bonus to back up David Carr. He was outplayed by Matt McGloin in pre-season games, opening the door for the Raiders to use his roster spot for a more stacked position. They will carry only two QB's into the season. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: If you choose to handcuff David Carr, the guy to roster is Matt McGloin.

Trent Richardson cut

By Stan Son

The Oakland Raiders have cut Trent Richardson. (Source: Bill Williamson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It looks like Michael Dyer will be third on the depth chart behind Latavius Murray and Roy Helu.

Category: Transactions

Rookie running back Michael Dyer performed well Saturday in Minnesota. He carried 12 times for 45 yards, with a long of seven. He also caught one pass for negative one yard.

Fantasy Impact: Dyer looked so much quicker than Trent Richardson. With the status of Roy Helu up in the air, the backup position to Latavius Murray could be in-play. I'd be surprised if the coaching staff chooses Richardson over Dyer.

Category: Game Recaps

He had an injury filled college career. Was billed as the next Percy Harvin out of high school. Had 30 receptions at Florida and also returned four kickoffs for touchdowns.

Fantasy Impact: Nice flier pick for Oakland. The kid can fly in the 4.3s and if healthy can break a few for scores.

WR James Jones has been informed that he will be released from his contract with the Oakland Raiders. (Source: ProFootballTalk.com via CSN Bay Area)

Fantasy Impact: A somewhat high-profile free agent, Jones totaled a career-high 73 catches in 2014, but they were mostly empty from a fantasy perspective, totaling 666 yards and six touchdowns. Being released by a WR needy team isn't a harbinger of big things to come for a veteran WR, and the 31 year old Jones may be done with the fantasy relevant phase of his career, although we could've said the same thing about Brandon LaFell last year.

The Ravens have found Joe Flacco’s backup, as they have signed veteran Matt Schaub, per Sports Illustrated’s Peter King. Schaub reportedly visited the Under Armour Performance Center Tuesday afternoon and apparently didn’t leave without signing a contract, despite interest from other teams. There were reports that the Jets, Falcons, Cowboys and Titans also had interest in Schaub. (Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink)

Fantasy Impact: Schaub brings 11 seasons of NFL experience to Baltimore. Schaub is a capable backup, but has struggled for the last few seasons. Last season was a low point in his career when he was unable to keep his starting job in Oakland. His fantasy value is extremely limited as long as Joe Flacco stays healthy.

Darren Mcfadden has signed a two-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys worth up to $5.85 million. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Not quite DeMarco Murray talent but anyone running behind the Cowboys' offensive line is interesting. Even a guy who hasn't played a full season in his NFL career. It is still a big possibility for the Cowboys to grab Melvin Gordon or Todd Gurley in this year's NFL draft.

After playing nine seasons in the NFL, eight with Jacksonville and the last with Oakland, Maurice Jones-Drew announced his retirement through Twitter. The three-time Pro Bowler led the league in rushing in 2011. (Source: Maurice Jones-Drew on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: With the release of Darren McFadden and the retirement news of MJD, the Raiders currently have one running back on the roster, Latavius Murray. The size/speed combo of Murray combined with the up-tempo spread attack of Bill Musgrave portends great things for Murray next year. Before we anoint him the next fantasy stud, we must wait to see what GM McKenzie does to address the position in free agency and the draft.

Per a source, Rod Streater will not play for the Raiders this season. (Source: Scott Bair)

Fantasy Impact: This is a blow to the Raiders offense. Streater has been practicing as of late, and hinted that he could see the field soon, but this news seems to indicate that Streater will in fact be shut down for the season. His skill and leadership would have been a boost to Derek Carr over these next 3 games. The Raiders will likely look to rebuild next season, and Rod Streater could be a casualty of many looming cuts.

"The Oakland Raiders have signed RB George Atkinson III from the practice squad and placed CB Carlos Rogers on the reserve/injured list." (Source: Raiders.com)

Fantasy Impact: The undrafted rookie was likely called up as insurance for Latavius Murray, who has been officially cleared from concussion protocol. While Atkinson is not a threat to Murray's status, he was called up for 2 reasons: Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew. It's hard to imagine either backs will return to the Raiders in 2015, and it appears Oakland is ready to take a look at their running back depth to help evaluate the future. Atkinson may not even be active for Sunday's game, but for fantasy purposes it's safe to say this move downgrades DMC and MJD even further. Fire up Murray this Sunday, and hope he breaks off another long run for a score.

Backup tight end, Brian Leonhardt, was taken to the locker room with an apparent concussion. He had a concussion last week as well but was a full participant in practice this week. (Source: @BairCSN)

Fantasy Impact: Leonhardt has caught 6 balls for 35 yards on the season so there is little fantasy relevance in this news. With the Raiders getting clobbered in St. Louis, this may be the best news for the day.

Denarius Moore inactive Sunday

Sun, Nov 30th 12:15pm EST
By Dale Redman

Raiders WR Denarius Moore is a healthy scratch for the game in St. Louis. Moore has fallen out of favor in Oakland. He has not played a snap in two games. (Source: Scott Bair on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Moore had fallen behind James Jones, Andre Holmes and Brice Butler on the wide receiver depth chart. With the impending return of Rod Streater, Moore had no place in the Oakland's offense. Moore has most likely played his last snaps in Oakland, it goes without saying that it is safe to move on from Moore in fantasy leagues.

Denico Autry blocked a second-half punt that Brice Butler recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.

Fantasy Impact: Butler remains buried on the depth chart, and is not worth a roster spot in any formats at this time.

Second-year receiver Kenbrell Thompkins was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders on Monday after being released by the Patriots, according to the teams official site. Thompkins has struggled with injuries this year and has only been active for two games and posting a total of 6 catches and 53 yards on the season. (Source: Raiders.com)

Fantasy Impact: As an undrafted rookie free agent for the Patriots last year, Thompkins showed some promise. He finished his rookie campaign with 32 receptions for 466 yards and four touchdowns. With Rod Streater out with an injury, Thompkins might find some playing time although will start out behind James Jones and Andre Holmes on the depth chart. Given the Patriots released him despite their glaring need for playmakers at the receiver position would make one hesitant to think he will have much of an impact this year.

Oakland's DST records two sacks, one fumble recovery and an interception returned for a touchdown in their 35-32 victory over the Carolina Panters

Fantasy Impact: Oakland's Week 12 victory produced their highest DST fantasy points on the season. While allowing 32 points is not ideal, the pick-six in the second quarter, along with two sacks and one forced fumble, was more than enough to make up for it. Oakland now totals 17 sacks, 10 interceptions, nine fumble recoveries, one blocked kick, and one touchdown on the year. They have continued to improve throughout the year and could become even more explosive if Aldon Smith is able to return.

Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith is expected to sign with the San Francisco 49ers when free agency begins. (Source: Mike Garagolo on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Malcolm Smith had a nice season in Oakland last year recording 103 tackles, one interception, and two forced fumbles. Smith should earn a starting nod in what seems to be a pretty decent 49ers team being put together. Smith would be a nice value add in any late IDP draft.

After filing for his reinstatement in the fall, Smith will be eligible to be reinstated in March as long as he remains out of trouble. However, this past weekend's incident could deter his reinstatement if he was involved in any wrongdoing. If the league grants him his reinstatement, Smith will join a Raiders defense that already employs a pair of prominent pass rushers that include the 2016-2017 Defensive Player of the Year, Khalil Mack, and Bruce Irvin.

Category: Rumors

Khalil Mack recorded an interception, a sack, a fumble forced, a fumble recovered and a touchdown. The touchdown came on an interception return from six yards out from Cam Newton. Mack becomes the first player since Charles Woodson in 2009 to record one of each in a single game.

Fantasy Impact: Mack is arguably the best IDP player in the NFL this season and is in the top-10 in sacks through 12 weeks. Mack will look to improve on his 9.0 sacks on the season vs. the Bills in Week 13.

Bruce Irvin was only able to tally one solo tackle against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Impact: This is Bruce Irvin's first year for the Oakland Raiders. He was highly touted, coming from the stout Seattle defense, and was paid handsomely for it - signing a four year, $37,000,000 contract. However, those dollar signs are not transferring into statistics so far this year, as he only has 19 solo tackles, two sacks, and four forced fumbles. Irvin will be a player to watch for the second half of this season.

Perry Riley amounted three solo tackles in the Oakland Raiders Week 9 victory.

Fantasy Impact: Perry Riley, having only played in five games for the Raiders this season, has now amassed 15 solo tackles to go along with one forced fumble. Oakland has to be thrilled with this production, considering Riley was brought in when LB Ben Heeney was placed on the IR and LB Malcolm Smith was dealing with a groin injury. Smith is now back and Riley looks to be a solid addition to an ever-improving Oakland defense.

Ben Heeney accumulates the third most tackles (six solo) on the Raiders defense in their Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Impact: In 15 games played last season, Heeney totaled 31 tackles for the year. Fast-forward to this season and Heeney is on pace for 72 tackles, more than double the amount of his rookie season. The 2015 fifth round draft pick is certainly progressing in the Ken Norton Jr. led defensive unit.

Mario Edwards is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after suffering a strained hip on Friday night against the Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact: Last season Edwards recorded 33 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble for the Raiders defense. Losing Edwards certainly hurts but having Bruce Irvin playing opposite Mack eases the pain a bit. At most I would drop the Raiders D/ST one ranking but come down to it, I would draft them over majority of others.

Safety Nate Allen picked off Drew Stanton in the Oakland Raiders' win over the Arizona Cardinals. Allen capitalised on an overthrown ball intended for John Brown before being tackled at the Arizona 10 yard line setting up another Oakland touchdown.

Fantasy Impact: This is encouraging for a defense which many people are high on. Allen adds another option in an ever improving secondary and could well tempt drafters to take a shot on the new look Oakland defense. The Raiders' D/ST is a matchup based starter but the potential is there for them to be the difference for your team.

Oakland Raiders safety Reggie Nelson has returned to the field after finally recovering from an ankle injury he sustained in the Bengals playoff loss last season. The veteran safety is one of multiple defensive additions Raiders General Manager Reggie McKenzie brought in. (Source: NBCBayArea.com)

Fantasy Impact: For the Raiders it makes their defense even more tempting with their new ball-hawking safety back in camp. Teamed with first-round draft choice Karl Joseph, who is expected to earn the strong safety starting job, the blend of youth and experience make for a tantalising well-balanced secondary. The Raiders D/ST is a sleeper candidate this year.

The Oakland Raiders and CB David Amerson agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension worth up to $38 million with $18 million in guaranteed money. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: David Amerson is entering his fourth season in the NFL and his second with the Raiders. Amerson had a remarkable season in Oakland in 2015. In 16 games, the corner tallied 60 tackles, four interceptions, a forced fumble and a whopping 26 pass deflections, which led the NFL (tied with Marcus Peters). Oakland's defense is an up and coming force that should be viewed as a sleeper in the upcoming fantasy football campaign.

The Oakland Raiders bolstered their offensive line this offseason when they signed Kelechi Osemele from the Baltimore Ravens. Osemele is outstanding in pass protection but is also a force in the ground game. Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave told the team's official website that Osemele is a "tremendous run blocker." “We’ve seen that on film when he was in Baltimore. He’s good in pass blocking. We anticipate his run blocking to help our run game be more productive.” (Source: The Official Website of the Oakland Raiders)

Fantasy Impact: The Raiders finished 28th in the NFL in total rushing in 2015 with1,457 yards and seven touchdowns. Latavius Murray will benefit most in the wake of Kelechi Osemele's signing as he is the starting running back on an up and coming Raiders team. Coming from Baltimore, Osemele is accustomed to playing in an offense that emphasizes the run so the adjustment factor is slim for the veteran guard.

Charles Woodson will retire after the 2015 season, ending what will most certainly be a Hall of Fame career. Included on his resume are a Heisman Trophy and a Defensive Player of the Year award. (Source: NFL Network)

Fantasy Impact: After 18 years, Woodson is still flying around the field trying to keep the Raiders in the game every week. Without a doubt, one of the greatest defensive backs to ever take the field.

D.J. Hayden picks Rivers

Hayden had ten tackles and one interception in the Raiders win over the Chargers on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: I wouldn't go adding Hayden as an individual D-Player just yet, but the Raiders defense is beginning to look stream worthy.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Oakland Raiders are afraid defensive end Justin Tuck suffered a torn pec against the Denver Broncos in Week 5. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Tuck played 67 percent of the Raiders defensive snaps. He started every game and led the team's defensive line in fantasy points. Tuck had 10 tackles and one sack through Week 5. Mario Edwards is the likely candidate to replace him in base sets.

Curtis Lofton tallied four tackles (one solo) Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Impact: Lofton is a good run stuffer, but a liability in pass coverage. As a result, defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. replaced him in passing downs with rookie linebacker Neiron Ball.

Ray-Ray Armstrong records a sack

Sun, Sep 27th 5:13pm EDT
By Stan Son

SF

Ray-Ray Armstrong tallied a sack Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Impact: The former safety turned linebacker is undersized as the Raiders strong side linebacker. After losing outside containment in the first two games, Armstrong did a much better job setting the edge against the Browns. He should not be considered for fantasy.

Sio Moore traded to the Colts

By Stan Son

Linebacker Sio Moore was traded to the Indianapolis Colts for a late-round draft pick. (Source: Scott Bair on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Moore had fallen out of favor with new Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio. He was also recovering from a hip ailment. I doubt he will have any fantasy impact but let's see what Chuck Pagano has in store.

Patriots agreed to terms with CB Tarell Brown on a one-year contract.

Fantasy Impact: Tarell Brown is a veteran who played for San Francisco and Oakland who should give the Patriots depth in the secondary. He struggled last year with the Raiders but will be given a chance to earn a starting position with the Patriots. The Patriots should have one of the better fantasy defenses if they can continue to strengthen the secondary.

He's 6'0/203 but can run 4.4s at that size. Had a jumbled college experience by leaving Kansas, going IUCO, then returning to Kansas.

Fantasy Impact: He'll serve as depth for the team.

Valles (6'5/251) tallied 18 TFLs, 13 sacks and four forced fumbles as a 16-game starter in college. He was third-team All-ACC in 2014. He ran a 4.83 forty with a 36 1/2 inch vertical and a 10-foot 1' broad jump at the combine.

Fantasy Impact: He is a raw talent, but projects to develop into an intimidating edge presence who can stop the run.

Overall, a good athlete with good range. Has durability issues.

Fantasy Impact: There is a place for him on the team. He is a good open-field tackler with adequate coverage skills.

Recently cut by the Oakland Raiders in a cap-saving move, Antonio Smith could be on his way back to the Houston Texans, where he spent five seasons along their defensive line. Smith would provide additional depth on a defensive line that has already added Vince Wilfork this offseason. While not strong in run support, he can still get after the quarterback even at 33 years old. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Despite the low level of sacks last season by Smith, he was one of the best 3-4 defensive ends at getting pressure on the quarterback last season according to Pro Football Focus. The Houston Texans' front seven is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the fantasy community. While the secondary still needs help, the Texans have clearly improved along the defensive line this offseason, even they don't sign Smith.

Patriots signed Chimdi Chekwa to one-year deal, per league source. (Source: Pro Football Talk on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Chimdi Chekwa has played the last four years as a reserve with the Raiders playing mostly on special teams. He will be competing to do similar duties with the Patriots.

Khalil Mack recorded an interception, a sack, a fumble forced, a fumble recovered and a touchdown. The touchdown came on an interception return from six yards out from Cam Newton. Mack becomes the first player since Charles Woodson in 2009 to record one of each in a single game.
