Oakland Raiders

Raiders running back Isaiah Crowell tore his Achilles during a workout with the team Monday and is out for the season, according to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. Crowell signed a one-year deal with the Raiders earlier in the offseason. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Crowell's injury will put added pressure on rookie running back Josh Jacobs, who was just drafted by the Raiders in the first round of last week's NFL Draft. Jacobs now has the inside track with little competition to be a three-down running back for the Raiders, with Jalen Richard likely serving as the occasional pass-catching back out of the backfield. Jacobs should be one of the first players off the boards in upcoming rookie dynasty drafts.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports Seth Roberts and the Ravens have come to terms on a one-year contract. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Roberts was released by the Raiders on Thursday and wasted little time finding a new home. Roberts might already be the best receiver on Baltimore but he is unlikely to have much fantasy value in this run-heavy offense.

Jordy Nelson has been released by the Raiders. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: It’s a corresponding move to the team signing Tyrell Williams to a four-year deal earlier this week. It’s strange timing, however, as Nelson was already paid his roster bonus. The Raiders have been rather unconventional with their roster moves lately, and this one is no different. The 33-year-old Nelson should be able to find another home before long.

Raiders hire Mike Mayock as GM

Mon, Dec 31st 10:49am EST
By Blaine Blontz

The Raiders have hired Mike Mayock to be their next GM. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Mayock has become known for his time as an NFL Draft analyst on television. He'll join Jon Gruden, who of course also spent significant time in front of a camera prior to returning to coaching in 2018. This franchise returned to joke status this season, but Mayock and Gruden will try to turn it around in 2019. They have plenty of draft capital and salary cap space to make major changes.

Daniel Carlson converted his lone field goal chance in the Raiders' 35-3 loss to the Chiefs Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Carlson performed well for a poor offense this season and would be a strong fantasy option on a better team.

Marcell Ateman had one reception for seven yards on three targets in the Raiders' 35-3 loss to the Chiefs Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Ateman is not yet ready to be a fantasy force and was basically invisible Sunday.

Jalen Richard rushed three times for one yard in the Raiders' 35-3 loss to the Chiefs Sunday. He also brought in both of his targets for 17 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Richard had a modest game Sunday to cap a useful PPR season.

Jared Cook had three receptions for 28 yards on five targets in the Raiders' 35-3 loss to the Chiefs Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Cook was quiet against the Chiefs to end a productive season.

Doug Martin rushed 21 times for 100 yards in the Raiders' 35-3 loss to the Chiefs Sunday. He also had one reception for one yard on two targets and lost one fumble.

Fantasy Impact: Martin continued his late-season surge with a 100-yard effort in Sunday's loss. With a strong possibility of retirement for Marshawn Lynch, Martin could hold value next season as the potential starter for the Raiders.

Derek Carr completed 24-of-33 passes for 185 yards and two interceptions in the Raiders' 35-3 loss to the Chiefs Sunday. He also lost one fumble.

Fantasy Impact: Carr turned the ball over three times in the blowout loss to the Chiefs. His fantasy future is murky in an ugly Oakland offense.

Raiders linebacker Tahir Whitehead recorded four tackles (one solo) in Sunday’s 30-16 loss to the Bengals.

Fantasy Impact: Whitehead is now up to 108 tackles and one interception in 14 games this season. The Broncos are up next in a Christmas Eve showdown Week 16.

DeAndre Washington had one carry for one yard in the Raiders' 30-16 loss to the Bengals Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Washington is seeing very little volume and is not a fantasy factor this season.

Martavis Bryant has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for once again violating the league's substance abuse policy. (Source: Jerry McDonald on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Bryant is currently on IR and will be a free agent after the end of the season, but it's very likely that he's done as an NFL player at this point. The move was always a concern this season, and it finally came to fruition. If he wasn't already, Bryant can be dropped in all formats.

The Raiders picked up their third win of the season despite allowing the Steelers to get into field goal position in the final seconds of the game on a catch and lateral pass. The team finished with one sack and one interception.

Fantasy Impact: No team struggles to sack the quarterback more than the Raiders as they have just 11 sacks on the entire season. Just for comparison, Khalil Mack, in 11 games played, has nine sacks and could conceivably finish with more sacks than the entire team that he previously played for. The Raiders do have decent upcoming matchups against the Bengals (week 15) and Broncos (week 16), but their inability to get to the quarterback limits their upside at creating turnovers.

Wed, Dec 5th 8:58pm EST
By Alex Johnson

The Raiders placed veteran safety Reggie Nelson on injured reserve Wednesday with a shoulder injury. His season is over. (Source: Michael Gehlken on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Nelson injured his shoulder in last Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs. He finishes the season with 29 tackles and two interceptions in 11 games.

The Raiders have signed free agent RB C.J. Anderson.

Fantasy Impact: Doug Martin is dealing with a knee injury, and he's uncertain for this weekend. As a result, the team signed Anderson to increase their RB depth. It's not clear what role he'll hold in the near term, but he would at least be sharing carries with Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington, if not backing them up entirely.

The Raiders have placed Brandon LaFell on IR with a torn Achilles tendon.

Fantasy Impact: LaFell's season is over, and this could also end his career. He came on recently as the top WR for the Raiders, but at this point Jared Cook and Jalen Richard are the only fantasy-relevant pass catchers in Oakland.

The Raiders have informed veteran defensive end Bruce Irvin that he will be released from the team on Monday. Irvin will head to waivers where he can be claimed by any team willing to pay the approximately $4 million remaining on his contract, otherwise he will become a free agent. (Source: Vic Tafur on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: In eight games (six starts) this season, Irvin has six tackles and three sacks. Following Thursday’s loss to the 49ers, a game in which Irvin only played nine snaps, coach Jon Gruden said Irvin doesn’t always fit into the Raiders’ defense. “We’re a 4-3 team now, so in the base defense sometimes he doesn’t fit the role we need done,” Gruden said Friday, via Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area. “No disrespect to Bruce, but he’s an edge rusher. Plus, we haven’t had the lead a lot.” He went on to say “I know he’s frustrated. I’m frustrated. He’s a good player.” Irvin should find a new home before season’s end.

A.J. McCarron completed 1-of-3 passes for 8 yards in the Raiders' 34-3 loss to the 49ers Thursday night.

Fantasy Impact: McCarron entered the game in the fourth quarter with starter Derek Carr having been sacked seven times in the contest. He threw just three passes and was sacked once himself in the loss to San Francisco.

Raiders cornerback Daryl Worley is listed as questionable for Thursday night’s game against 49ers with a shoulder injury. (Source: Oakland Raiders )

Fantasy Impact: Worley was a limited participant in every practice this week. With Gareon Conley (foot) also questionable, the Raiders are thin at the cornerback position after Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie retired at the beginning of the week.
