Welcome to the Monday edition of the FanDuel MLB Value Plays. We have nine games to work with on this Monday night slate. As always, be sure to check out the weather and the team lineups throughout the day. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite value options for today.

Pitcher
Kyle Freeland (COL): $7,700 at COL
Kyle Freeland has looked excellent so far in his rookie campaign for the Rockies with a 3.34 ERA through his first 12 starts. Tonight he has a decent matchup against the Pirates who rank 21st in wRC+ and 22nd in wOBA against left-handed pitchers this season. Freeland probably does not have the upside for GPP contests tonight since he’s not a strikeout pitcher. However, you could make the case to use him in cash games if for some reason you do not pay up at pitcher tonight.
Catcher
Austin Hedges (SD): $2,400 vs. CIN
Austin Hedges strikes out pretty often, but when he does have the power to punish the baseball when he does make contact. Tonight he faces Bronson Arroyo, who has the slate’s worst HR/9 rate this season.
First Base
Danny Valencia (SEA): $2,900 at MIN
Danny Valencia has been hitting well since the beginning of May and has a 0.348 batting average over the last two weeks. Tonight he has an outstanding matchup against Adalberto Mejia, who has struggled against right-handed hitters this season.
Second Base
Jose Pirela (SD): $2,500 vs. CIN
The Padres called up Jose Pirela a couple of weeks ago, and he has been hitting leadoff for them in each of their past three games. In four games total in the leadoff spot, Pirela is hitting 0.533 with two home runs and two doubles. Pirela will certainly regress, but as long as he is still hitting near the top of the order and still priced this low, we cannot ignore him.
Third Base
Ehire Adrianza (MIN): $2,100 vs. SEA
Third base does not have any appetizing value options at the moment, so if you are going the value route, you might as well punt a near minimum salary option. Ehire Adrianza does not provide much power, but he has been hitting pretty well since coming off of the DL in May with a 0.318 batting average.
Shortstop
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM): $2,800 vs. CHC
I believe that the Mets are a great team to stack in GPPs against John Lackey tonight, and Asdrubal Cabrera is one of the hitters you can use in that stack. Cabrera has not been outstanding by any means this season, but he’s still hitting near the top of the order. Lackey has struggled with the long ball this season, allowing a 2.35 HR/9 to left-handed hitters this season.
Outfielders
Andrew Benintendi (BOS): $2,800 vs. PHI
Andrew Benintendi has cooled off, but he still has been decent against right-handed pitchers this season. Jerad Eickhoff, on the other hand, has allowed a 0.361 wOBA against left-handed hitters this season.
Seth Smith (BAL): $2,800 at CWS
This game is a great one to game stack in GPPs. Both pitchers in this matchup are awful, so there should be tons of fireworks tonight in Chicago.
One of my favorite hitters in this game for cash games is Seth Smith. Smith typically hits leadoff for the Orioles against right-handed pitchers. Over the course of his career, Smith has a 0.355 wOBA and a 0.198 ISO against right-handed pitchers.
Guillermo Heredia (SEA): $2,600 at MIN
Another solid and cheap cash game option to consider tonight is Guillermo Heredia. Heredia typically hits near the top of the order for the Mariners when they face a lefty. I already mentioned that Mejia is not that great, so the Mariners are another team who we can stack with in GPPs tonight.
