Notes
There is no denying that Yelich was a first round value in 2018 and perhaps even the #1 fantasy asset thanks to a .326 average with 36 homers, 22 steals and 110+ runs and RBIs. These numbers blew away his career marks, however, so projection models all have him regressing to a high-end second round value this year
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Bregman had 83 extra-base hits last season to go with 105 runs and 103 RBIs despite being just 24 years old. Chances are high that his fantasy value continues to trend north. With that said, he is currently recovering from elbow surgery so be sure to keep an eye on his progress before picking him up in the 1st round this spring.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
After several quietly productive seasons in Miami, Yelich was the biggest breakout star in MLB during his first season in Milwaukee, finishing tied with J.D. Martinez as the most valuable player overall in standard 5x5 roto/categories leagues. Yelich showed skills progression with a top-10 hard contact rate, was more aggressive on the base paths, and benefited from a major ballpark and lineup upgrade. His numbers were also driven by an unsustainable 35.0 percent HR/FB rate and a .373 BABIP that was a tad high even for a guy who generally excels in that metric. It's therefore prudent to expect Yelich to give back some homers and batting average, and he probably won't swipe quite as many bags either. But even if he goes .300-28-18 instead of .326-36-22, he can still be a top-five outfielder, especially when you consider the plus run production numbers he's sure to accrue in Milwaukee.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
With great plate discipline and a great supporting cast, Bregman is a very safe, high-floor selection on draft day. He's an excellent bet to produce a .280 average, 25-30 HRs, and around 10 stolen bases, with big run and RBI totals thanks to the Astros' stacked lineup.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Anyone sick of hearing about launch angle will relish Yelich's MVP campaign. Sure, the career .297/.375/.463 hitter has proven capable of hitting for a high average with above-average power despite his lofty ground-ball rates. But 35% of his fly balls cleared the fences for his 36 home runs. No other qualified hitter posted a HR/FB% above 30. He's more likely to hit 25-30 homers, which is still great if he can swipe around 20 more bags for the Brewers. There's enough five-category goodness to keep him in the first round, but also enough regression concern to push him toward the latter half of it.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Bregman's superstar ascension featured a stellar .286/.394/.532 slash line, 32 homers, and more walks (96) than strikeouts (85). He finished among the top five in contact, outside-swing, and swinging-strike rates, so the elite plate approach could feasibly net a .300 average in 2019. Yet a .463 xSLG suggests he hit his power ceiling, which is concerning considering the drop in steals (10). Drafters now must also monitor his progress from offseason arthroscopic surgery on his elbow, making Bregman a dicey proposition in the first round.
