Notes
Durability is an issue that concerns me less in 60 games than it might if we were in 162, but he isn't an Ace any more. He gets hurt too much and a DL/IL stint is a killer in a 9 week season.
Chris Mitchell - FantasyData
He's no longer Ground Chuck, as the Astros and Rays were able to tap into the electric stuff that Morton has. It's hard to argue with the success that he's had over the past few seasons, but what hurts Morton - and fantasy managers - is that the breakout came late in his career. He's 35, and he said he "fully expects" to hang up his cleats at the end of his current contract. If he's the same pitcher as he has been the past few years, you're getting a steal here. But age and durability concerns have to be on your mind if you draft him.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Kershaw silenced the decline talks last year after he put up another good season with an improved SwStr%. In quality starts leagues, he was money for managers, as he consistently went six and seven innings in his starts. He's had to change who he is as a pitcher, as the velocity just isn't there, which gives him little margin for error. He's worth taking still, but he's more of an SP2 at this point.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Morton only got better after leaving the Astros, setting career bests in innings pitched, ERA, WHIP, and strikeout percentage. Batters simply don't hit his curveball, which he throws more than a third of the time, and his fastball is nearly equally as effective. In a dynasty or keeper format, things may be different, as Morton speaks of retirement often. For this year, however, there is zero reason for concern.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Peak Kershaw may be gone, but the version that remains is pretty darn good himself. Kershaw passed 175 innings pitched for the first time since 2015 despite starting the season on the IL, and although his ERA crept above 3.00 for the first time since 2008, his overall numbers remain elite. With strong win potential always present, Kershaw is a fine second starter on your staff. But his days of carrying a fantasy team are behind him.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Had the best season of his career in 2019. If he comes close to matching it his ADP will make him a big-time value
Brendan Tuma - BettingPros
No longer an ace but the price to draft him is reasonable. Can expect wins playing for the Dodgers, which can be tough for SPs to find
