Notes
Only 38 players had an ISO of more than .160 with a K% lower than 18 percent in at least 400 plate appearances. Guerrero has his name there with the likes of Cody Bellinger, Alex Bregman, Ketel Marte, Nolan Arenado, Francisco Lindor, Xander Bogaerts, and more. Guerrero was never going to live up to the expectations in his rookie season, but it was still a damn good season. The generational talent shouldn't be overlooked due to an OK debut. He crushes the ball, and it's just about hitting fewer groundballs in his second season. Oh yeah, he's only 21 years old. Invest now, or get left behind.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Josh Donaldson showed that he wasn't quite done yet, as he had a big prove-it year in Atlanta after missing chunks of two straight seasons in 2017 and 2018. Donaldson had his elite plate discipline and power all season, and now he enters a lineup that led baseball in home runs last year. What's not to love? Well, we can't really ignore that he missed those two large chunks because of injury, especially with a 34-year-old. Between the chance of injuries popping up again and just really an overall decline in the skill set due to his age, there are yellow - not red - flags when considering Donaldson.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
It wouldn't surprise anyone if Guerrero batted .330 with 40 homers this year but we are still talking about a kid who didn't outperform Brian Anderson, Renato Nunez or Todd Frazier last year in similar plate appearances. His upside is breathtaking but there is unquestionably some risk at his ADP.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Donaldson played it right, betting on himself with a one-year deal and turning in a patented monstrous power season with the Braves. He'll now move on to the Twins where you can expect more of the same. Not only do the Twins boast one of the best all-around lineups in baseball, but park factors actually favor Target Field over Truist Park for home runs and doubles. Expect a repeat of 2019, with perhaps a little more.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Yes, Donaldson hit 37 homers last year with 90+ runs and 90+ RBIs but this is a player who missed 160 games over the prior two seasons and won't offer average or steals to counteract the injury risk. With that said, his upside looks nice in the 9th round.
